Great episode with Bob Sargent. He's put together our annual race at Taylorville's Christian County Fair. Always a great time! Thank you for that!

Mr. Sargent is one very smart man. He does his homework and uses his common sense and is highly skilled in this sport. He's a national treasure. He's successful because he listens.

There were some great 'NASCAR Nights' at Grundy County Speedway when NASCAR was at Chicagoland. Guys like Matt Kenseth, David Stremme, and a lot of others would come and race on the nights before NASCAR weekend.

Streaming definitely has done some damage. My husband and I have always said, that when there's streaming it should only be available to people that are at least 200 miles from the track being streamed. And, yes, the promoter should receive a percentage of revenue for that particular night

9:30pm would’ve been great last week at Thunder Road (Barre) for my 12yo and 8yo grandkids…
24:55 promoters do need to translate into ticket sales. There’s a whole ambience with a big crowd… they need to have a reason and a fortitudinal motivation to be there live. FLO should/could serve the tracks even better with ‘something’ in the program that wanders through the stands. That’s a big ask but excitement can be engineered- not scripted or falsified but real excitement translated to viewers - maybe even some kind of ‘parity competition’ between drivers at other regional tracks that will never run at these other tracks, and tie it to the fans in the stands. I know- a tightrope.
But racing is a show, an orchestrated circus. Make every week an event. It needs to be marketed that way.

@KennyWallace racing is NOT dying nor is it dead. Politics will try to kill it and ban it cause of the oil/fuel, developers will buy out the struggling tracks and redevelop them. But there are tracks that are thriving! I personally no exaggeration have not missed a race at my 2 local tracks since 2008. I attend every Friday and Sunday as long as they run, I take some work off for bigger shows WOO sprints and Lates, XR super series and local track promoted big shows. But in the past 5 years we now have the largest late model count in the area, fans are attending our tracks, especially 1 of them does really really well. We have streaming almost every week, we run 5-6 classes weekly and we have very very good cars coming to our tracks. Mabey in Illinois dirt racing is dying, but up here in Minnesota and Wisconsin we are thriving. My 2 local tracks are doing the best they done since the 90’s ( there wasn’t as much entertainment or technology to keep people busy then. It takes good cars. Good equipment. A good race track and a well run program and ppl will come. The main thing killing race tracks is low car counts, boring racing, or value of the land. Kenny, please do a show with Bob tall cool one Pierce, Russ Ebert ( Dan Eberts dad) and you need to get Scott Bloomquist on man. Love ya Kenny but dirts not even close to dead. Not in my hood. NASCAR is dead to us our dirt racing is so good and competitive and plentiful May-September.

Kenny loosing tracks is like loosing bowling centers it's been going on for years. I was a bowler for 50 years. Many of the bowling centers I competed at are no longer there. The property is more valuable than the business. So it becomes something else. Participation is much lower now because of the state of the economy. That's why I stopped it's a matter of survival. Fans can't afford the travel and the cost of tickets and concessions. That's my take on the situation. John from Hayden Idaho

I will admit he puts on a show but he is terrible for racers.

I've never been to one of his races, but are you saying his payoffs are low?
