An Unrelentless Drive To Make It Brought Jefferson Hodges To JRM and Team Penske | Dale Jr. Download

  • Dale Earnhardt Jr. reconnects with a figure from his past when he sits down with Team Penske NASCAR team manager Jefferson Hodges.
After growing up admiring his Uncle Dale Lemonds’ racing career, Jefferson found his way into the racing world through Rick Townsend’s late model stock outfit in the Richmond, Virginia area. From there, he’d make his way onto the NASCAR Cup scene thanks to Tommy Baldwin, who was working for Junie Donlavey Racing at the time. When the Donlavey team began to slow, Jefferson returned to Townsend and found his footing as a team leader and crew chief.
Jefferson would play an integral role in the progression of JR Motorsports from a late-model stock team to one of the leading organizations in the NASCAR Xfinity roster. Jefferson had found success in the late model ranks with driver Mark McFarland, and after taking home a NASCAR Whelen All-American Championship, the two were destined for Charlotte. Through a driver switch up, the two found themselves at JR Motorsports, and when success in late models led to the possibility of expanding into NASCAR’s secondary division, the number-88 Xfinity ride was born.

Honestly think JR knows it wasn’t great. He was still racing at the time Eury SR Robert G LW was handling a lot for him. If you listen to a lot of these you see the involvement of those guys. Kelly ran the overall business side of it from the start. I think he got more hands on as time went on. But Hodges admitted once his boy gets fired he wasn’t great to deal with, but it worked out bc they brought Brad in. Worked out for both parties so no hard feelings

Great post! Jefferson Hodges may not be as visible as some others, but if RP sees value in you, that just may be
(Short of DaleJr!) the best possible thing for a hometown racer! Just ask Rick Mears or Tim Cindric or Joey or Brad the list goes on and on!
But, that college diploma sure didn't hurt!!
Not many people get to see RP from the inside!
IMHO in America, Roger Penske is the man, full stop!
Plus, I love that he uses Chevy engines in his Indycar team.
And who just won the first race of the season driving for Roger Penske, Josef
    Newgarden!
Jr knocks it out of the park on the DaleJrDownload!!

If "relentless" means refusing to relent or take pity; not diminishing in determination, speed, effort, etc.... then wouldn't "unrelentless" mean the opposite?

I was just about to write a similar comment. I believe the word they were searching for is "unrelenting", which carries the meaning the context would suggest was intended. Note to Jr.: please purchase a dictionary and thesaurus for whoever is writing video titles. This is far from the first time vocabulary deficiencies have resulted in a nonsensical word salad.

ps....... Can we get a TJ episode throw it back to how you guys became friends ONLINE to present??
I had the chance to compete in a heat race 3-08-24 with Dale Jr., TJ, and Tim Dugger,
    after racing online myself since 1993 as 83RacerX {your long lost brother Speed Racer}
I had always been extremely intrigued at how many people Dale has met, in his online racing life.
that would not otherwise have found themselves involved to the level they are now in Nascar without the direct intervention of Dale Jr.!!!
I grew up watching Dale Lemonds as well as many others and been involved building, crewing most of my 52 years.
I got to know Jeffersons Father King Hodges and His uncle Dale and Cousin Chris,
I was there the night they signed the lease at Langley after Dale Lemonds Death and I also worked for Shawn Balluzo, who jr. raced with a few times Back in the90's sundrop days
Life has a path and looking back on it Jefferson and I have a lot in common, would love to reconnect with him sometime.
and yes Everette, Elton, and Roger Sawyer's cars were always just a little nicer...
devils in the details and they just showed thru the craftsmanship and dedication to the pursuit of ultimate perfection.
    Robert L. in Hampton Virginia
ppss and dont forget to have tj and dale jr tell you about the goodys dash car they brought to langley and was a second faster than the field.
TJ put on an impressive display that day, even thou he didn't go for the win.
he was fast and I for one, knew TJ had a Hot Hot car...lol

"How to make it in NASCAR" ???? - You don't! - Take it from me. 9 years of life working for those people 2000-2008, The France family. Worked outside the 1600 Halifax Ave France Estate protecting Bill France Jr. and Betty at night as a security officer after we lost Dale in 2001 due to the cooks. Then after Bruce Kennedy was killed in plane crash July 10,2007, I lacked judgement and offered my personal protection services to Lesa and Ben Kennedy, again at night in a car, while they slept. My problem, I asked for a raise to better my living condition at home, only to be forced to resign. That's your NASCAR you may want to work for/with. Was and has been the worst decision of my life. I worked 9 years at POVERTY wage. All this I can easily prove. Someone is going to hear/read about it.
