- Henry Big Boy Revolver .357 Magnum Review. This is one I've been waiting to get for over a year. I'm a big fan of Henry Firearms and this makes a great companion with one of their 357 Magnum Lever Actions. The Retro Look but with a strong action to handle full house loads.
Thanks to Henry for their partnership @HenryUSA
Big thanks to Fiocchi USA for Supplying our ammunition! @FiocchiUSA

I have no idea why anyone would make a fuss over the design. This is an absolutely beautiful revolver, classic style and so exceptional.
I love the older revolver look and the blued
revolvers, leverguns, now henry just needs to get into side by side shotguns so we aren't stuck with only turkish imports
You should have a look at real SxS shotguns. None of the. Coming out of turkey…
People would complain about the price because they're want Turkish/Brazilian prices for American-Made
CZ makes a nice hammer gun.
Henry should have made it with an octagon barrel.
Now they need to make a 1911 with a brass frame.
Still a ton of MIM parts and bad QC, just more expensive. If you want quality western-style guns it makes more sense to pony up for old American guns or Italian repros.
I'd be willing to bet they're working on a .44 mag version to go with their lever guns in that caliber.
Absolutely ❤😊
Then 45-70??
Actually, in the owners manual for the revolver they mention a model chambered in 22 lr and wmr....... Maybe we will see some of that in Shotshow 2025.
I got a lemon unfortunately, but I own multiple Henry rifles, am a huge fan and this guy is brand loyal. After three returns the screws backing out, the cylinder locking with factory ammo, Henry replaced it, and the new revolver is like activating dead eye in Red Dead.
So glad Henry finally got into revolvers!
Now they should try the pump-action shotguns market.
Why?
@@homeofinventions Because they make incredible quality stuff…and their customer service is superb.
I have their 22wmr carbine, and two SAA revolvers. I’m into the old cowboy stuff, so I’d like to add a Henry revolver.
Not sure if I want 357 though. 45 Colt is my preference for a Henry.
@@Ira88881 If they were so good, you wouldn't need customer service.
@@homeofinventions I wanted to buy the large loop lever for my carbine and called. Can’t buy. They sent it for free…not even shipping cost.
Get it?
And the one thing you’ll never have a leg to stand on is disparaging Henry quality. It’s an argument you’re gonna lose.
You said that a revolver is slow to load, which is true except for the ones that you can use a speed loader with, but the good thing about the 357 is that if you have a home intruder 6 shots of 357 magnum should be more than enough for someone who knows how to use the revolver
Bluing is more resistant than modern folks give it credit for; it was the standard for rust protection once. As long as you wipe it with an oily rag once in a while or after it gets wet, it’ll last for years.
Indeed. And blued guns are better for shooting in bright sun especially if you are facing into the sun. Sights on stainless guns can disappear into a blaze of glare.
I've been waiting for Sootch to review this gun ever since it came out! Thanks :)
Thanks BB, I've been wanting to get one since they were introduced and I wasn't disappointed.
My first revolver is the SP101 in 327.
I wanted a lever to pair it with but Henry was not making it in stainless. Ruger crushed that dream as well when they have no interests in making a Marlin stainless 327.
Had to settle on a Taurus 602 357 and the Rossi R92 357 both in stainless.
Granted the ammo is cheeper then 327, but to have my original caliber in a matching pair would had been better.
I have a couple Henry rifles and love them. Thier company surprised me, never saw the owner email a customer, but that shows they believe in the product and customers. Id love to have this revolver
We need more 8 shot revolvers. I've never heard anyone complain that an 8 shot 357 cylinder was too big. It's simply not.
Not too big for wearing on the hip maybe. I wouldn't want to carry it stuck down my pants.
@@wizardofahhhs759 when you see all the -shit- accessories the pistol brigade bolts to their pew-pews, even a 9 shots cylinder would look quite quaint. 😏
@@kittytrailindeed. I always keep my sidearms simple. Iron sites, no accessories.
I never heard anyone getting shot by a 357 that a single hit is inadequate.
7 shots are better.. Much smaller than an 8, little bigger then a 6.
It looks like Henry was emulating the Colt lighting.
Yahoo, no red dot!!! I love plinking, hunting, collecting revolvers. They are just fun. Single actions of all stripes, double actions from very small to very large, I like them all. They all do not take the place of my carry gun, a G19 or G43X, depending upon what I am wearing, going, etc. This one is on my list, though not a priority yet. Good review as always, thanks.
Most popular? “old west” combo of rifle and revolver was Winchester rifle and Colt single-action revolver in 44 WCF (.44-40). At times .38-40 or .32 WCF were popular, too.
Thanks for the explanation of how and why Henry made it look the way it does. Before your review I didn’t understand the whys.
Beautiful design. I am particularly fond of the Bird's Head model. They both remind me of pistols that LEOs of the 20's & 30's might carry. Thanks for your review!
It does look a lot like a colt police positive
We need more old school steel and wood firearms, I'm a fan!
Yeah, I agree. It is reminiscent of a Police Positive. My grandfather gave me his old Colt Police Positive before he passed (we miss you Gpa!). It was his duty weapon a long time ago and was also his favorite gun. It has become my favorite over the years as well. I love that thing. That revolver is what got me into reloading. The ejector rod on the Henry is definitely more beefy than the Colts. I'm sure it'll never give anyone a problem. I wouldn't mind getting one of these. I'd opt out for the birds head if I could though, it just looks well balanced. I think everybody expected some type of SAO revolver from Henry, but I like what they did with this one.
Thanks for the video Sootch.
I love it hope Henry keeps it up
Finally a revolver companion for my buck 110 folding hunter.
Well hopefully the revolver doesn't fall apart after a few months of use like the 110 does...
Ain't sure what you're doing to your 110.. I've had one for years that my dad had before me. No issues
The 110 is notoriously the best lock back out there for the price it's possible you bought a lemon but more possible you bought a knock off. @@AncientCreature-i2o
Buck 192 vanguard would pair perfectly as well
Sootch got that big iron on his hiiiiiiiip!
Good morning here from Brazil 🇧🇷. Wonderful revolver, a work of art. Congratulations on your purchase and thanks for the video. I love revolvers.
that is one of the best marketing strategies ive seen by a gun maker recently quality, effective, nostalgic

I upload reviews a few days early for Patreon Members :)
Mama was Model 13 and papa was Charter Bulldog and uncle Blackhawk gifted front sight.
What not to like?
Loved Rugers 6'5 .357 .security six ....
Good on henry. Another solid revolver on the market is always welcome. They are smart. Many build a bond and trust with their gun company, and henry makes great rifles. A companion revolver in same caliber is a nice option.. cool that now people can have a "matching" set all from Henry.
That's a beautiful revolver.
These remind me so much of the long-discontinued Ruger Security Six.
To me it looks like they borrowed a lot from Charter Arms in the design of the revolver. The crane and ejector assembly looks a lot like my Bulldog. I used to have a Security Six and I'm a big fan of that revolver too.
Maybe even a slight resemblance to a webley.
Hah just made the same comment. Very similar. Great pistols.
Looks like fun! Does look retro kind of like a Charter Arms Bulldog to me. Wish it wasn't so expensive though.😮 But I do like that rich blueing and the brass accents are really great looking. Eight shots? Nice+ as well.
Saving for one now to go with my Henry rifle Lin the same caliber great pair and I really like the retro style not everything has to be tactical nowadays. Good grief
Most encounters are done in 6 or less. Yes we all like to think more is better but training is king. Oh and yeah most people that carry never have to use it. Thabk God for that as well
I own 2 henry rifles. A brass bigboy 44mag and a steel 30-30. Both pre side gate. And both are hunting rifles. And get shot alot. Ill keep both. Awsome rifles. And they both bring home the deer and bear meat.😊
I love my Henry repeating arms. 👍👍
The birdshead version is very nice! Very intimidating weapon
Another terrific review. Love Henry. Have the 45-70 and AR-7 - both superb
A revolver you don't buy for any real reason: because you're an adult and as an adult you can, budget permitting, buy things just because you like them.
And there's nothing wrong with that. I want the birdshead one because it's an absolute vibe.
For anyone not okay with the brass for whatever reason, Remember Birchwood Casey makes a product called Brass Black.
I have the Henry big boy 357 rifle and I think that I just might have to buy this revolver as a companion piece
I was hoping Henry would come out with a nice Peacemaker but ahh I'm not going to scold them . I have my Taylor !
Plenty of Italian replicas
@@logangodofcandy Yep
This is the one Sebastian uses in Evil Within 😎
Wow this guy sure is aging well! He looks great
I want you to say “ Thumbs way up!”.
I’m kind of surprised Henry didn’t first go with a SAA revolver, rather than a DA. Except for the lack of adjustable sights and an ejector rod shroud, it looks great !
Id like to see them come out with a top break SA.
So many beautiful guns and so little time! 😉😉😉
...and money. These things cost a mint these days.
Experienced burns on knuckle wear a nice glove
That vintage look doesn’t look out of place
Long live original America, not only in guns
Reminds me of the Ruger Security Six.
That looks so close to a police special but chambered in yours truly. Beautiful.
Reminds me of H&R revolvers.
Either that or a old-school high standard revolver?
Not for me. The Henery has a lot more quality & better looking than the H & R square frame. Brass frame, wow this is a beauty. The birds head grip is dandy. They are going to see a bunch of these. watch & find out.
@@armedfarm3429How much they pay you people to give such great replies for their products? Must be a lot.
Love this revolver.
Good review, Sootch.
Great review! Savin’ my money.
I think it’s gorgeous.
I would carry it ccw anytime shoulder holster or hip love the looks but again im a boomer
Nice.✌️
I’m interested to see what used values are. I don’t think it will retain value like a S&W, Colt, or Ruger. These are selling at the price of premium revolvers so we’ll see..
would run one of these, in a crossdraw holster as a EDC if I ever get one.
Mine is in the 700s in production urs seems to be in the 11000s but thought that was cool have had mine bout a year enjoy it all the time the SA is great an the DA i personaly need to work on it
Hope that thay make a model with a adjustable rear sight and a longer barrel id love a classic style target revolver
Love it!! This will most definitely be a future purchase!!! I think birds heard grip for me . Fun fact they actually had Smith and Wesson retool there new service revolvers with out the crane guard because they were finding mud getting trapped in there in WW1 trench condition's! Classy Revolver Imo!!
Ejector rod housing not crane catch
Hello Sootch, Finally you made a vídeo about the Henry Big Boy 357, this revólver is very beautiful, i like the old school style. I think that Henry Firearms should try the pump-action shotguns market, i think that it will be a big hit.
Thanks Joao! A quality pump action Shotgun would be great to see. They make a 22 pump action rifle that's one of my favorites. 👍
the Ithaca 37 is great, with a mix of classic design and quirky sleekness. 😼👌
Make a 2" barrel and I'd grab one
The rear sights are terrible. That was a mistake using the carry style. Also the fit in the upper hand is not good. It slides in the hand and rocks the webbing of your hand with that metal back strap. I can see it happening while you shoot too. Other than that its fun and looks good and seems well made.
I'd carry this IWB or in a hip holster any day.
Please I hope they make larger frame models in 45 Colt. Make them beefy to take 45 Colt Magnum level stuff so I can pair it with my 45 Colt Big Boy rifle.
I know it is old school, but I don't have any safe queens. I acquire more than collect. I still prefer ejector rod protection, regardless of how heavy the rod is. I have seen unprotected rods being bent. Of course it was a old, much used revolver. Too,a steel frame would be good.
POW+POW. Love it !
Honestly Im still waiting for a 2in model with a bobbed hammer
I'd love to see a review of the Heritage Roscoe
I’m definitely getting one!!!
Looks like a Rhone Saturday night special... those little German revolvers
They are beautiful firearms. Question: why would you not EDC this revolver? Why would you suggest it’s a safe queen?
The only gripe I would have is that they price their items way too high. I mean when a lever action costs more than a decent AR or AK is really ridiculous. I still want that revolver though, but it means I got to budget.😅
Local gun shop here is selling these for $813. It's a bit pricey for a basic .357 revolver. Charter Arms has a fixed sight 6-shot .357 for 300 less than that. For 100 more, you can get a Ruger GP100 with 7 round cylinder.
those are great revolvers. i'm hoping that maybe they'll make one in the same size in .45 colt (5 shot).
I want it in 45 Colt but in Six shot .
@@eddierudolph8702 either way, both would be good.
I can’t get any groups out of mine at 10 yards. My colt and vaquero were inside of 2” so a little disappointed. It’s a bit better with 357. I reload and use the same loads for 5 other revolvers might have to develop a round just for this little revolver
Good gun i like revolver
Which Smith & Wesson frame type is this closest to?
Will this revolver shoot the buffalo bore hot loads ? They are some very powerful 357 bullets and can damage a revolver that is lightweight and not up to shooting such a powerful load
I get the whole classic aesthetic thing, but if they just added a rib to the barrel and/or a housing for the cylinder plunger it would be GORGEOUS. Even a beefier barrel would have drastically increased the looks. Still very nice though.
Hopefully we'll some variations/models with those features in the future, Henry seems pretty responsive to their customers.
@@dlmsarge8329 I'd definitely like to see it. The build quality looks really good though. It has the feel of the golden age of revolvers from the 1950's to the 1970's. I've yet to see one in person, but it LOOKS like they're putting some attention to detail and quality craftsmanship in it.
Sir, there were no 454 Colt lever action rifles in the Old West. It was a late 20th century happening.
Looks nice, but my question with Henry products is always durability.
Looks like a Henry, nice review.
I've had mine for a year and love it. It looks like something Frank Hamer or Jelly Bean Brice would have carried. It handles heavy duty .357 with no problem. It is more of a collectable, range gun for me, but could easily be a woods gun.
Nice but not my cup of tea. For $900 MSRP, I'll spend my money on a real classic revolver. In fact I've recently purchased two - both S&W .38 Special hand ejectors - 1947 and 1953 vintage But thanks for the review! Love your work.
I love the traditional look. Been toying with getting a revolver and I think I'm sold on the Big Boy with the gunfighter grip.
I'll be getting one.
Henry should make a SAA style revolver with a flip out cylinder, like the Diamondback sidekick or the high standard double nine except in 357, 44 or 45 cal
I agree that would be great!!Also a coltish birdshead thunderer/lightning,no 1 makes 1
@@stevenwatkins3634 Exactly!! Would be great!
19:35 $928 for a work of art. Worth it.
Nope.
No way 😅
For $300 more you could get a real gun, a Python. And just about any real gun like a Ruger, S&W, or a Colt 1911 for $900.
I got a Rossi .357 m971 vcr it’s a budget solid wheel gun
Those older Rossi revolvers are top notch. I have the Model 68 and 88. They rival S&W in quality. Thanks
@@sootch00I had one. For a year. Spent most of the time being fixed by the goonsmyths. Best to go with Smith or Ruger.
Lefty version available?
Sweet ❤😊
thanks sootch for making me spend another 900 bucks on just another one to collect dust but i feel i may need this in my collection
These have been $750 in my area for about a year.
he'll probably have to spend way more to move in your area just to save $150 you know... 😋👆
just needed a real rear sight and the aesthetic would have been tops
If Charter Arms, High Standard and Harrington and Richardson had a baby this is what it would look like.
It would’ve looked great in Dale Evan’s or Gail Davies holster.
I love this gun
