    Having listened to a few podcasts on the England performances in recent weeks, not a single mention of the impact Felix Jones is having on the England set-up. For me watching the substitution strategy vs France, very much as per that of SA. empty your tanks for 50 minutes and trust that those coming on will make a difference, and for me they did. After all FJ is a double World Cup winning coach, not sure any other member of the England set-up can match those credentials.

      England had players missing throughout the tournament as well, Lawrence, Martin, Smith and Manu for the first three matches, Mitchell the third match, Feyi-Waboso and Cunningham-South for the last match. That’s not even including Willis and Arundell who can’t be picked whilst playing in France and Farrell due to the break he’s taking.
      Naming missing players is just an excuse, you play with the available players.
      Look at France missing their talisman in DuPont and his lieutenant N’tamack, hell even wales were missing players.

    Great show again Jim. You can see England building nicely, and the 6N was really tight for the most part this year which made for a cool tournament. Loved watching the passion in Italy. Glad we faced the 'then' England and not this one in that Semi-Final. Eales is a great baller!

    At last England showed what they can do both in the pack, moving a bigger pack around and matching them physically, and especially in the backs. Ford had his best game for England in a while, I’ve been a critic but he managed the game as he did in a different way in Marseille last September. Unsure of the blitz defence, the centres were caught out too often, but better to press on with that. We have the players on the field and on the bench now to open anyone up so I’m very optimistic, even after Saturday.

    England were the best team in the world last week…..oh wait,,,, then France beat them, they are third in Europe currently. Semi final in the World Cup was because they were on the easy side of the draw.
    The rugby gods didn’t like Ireland naming a 6-2 bench against England. If Ireland named a 5-3 bench Ireland could (would) have won. Fine margins. Calm down England.

    As a neutral fan I do think England have done very well after a pretty awful start. I wouldn't be putting too much importance on the World Cup as they had basically 2nd rate opposition. If you'd have put them in the South Africa/Ireland group, England would have gone home early.Just looking at the 2025 fixtures, Ireland with both France and England at home are probably looking at a 3rd 6 Nations championship. It was less about England beating Ireland, it was more more about İreland having an off day. What backs up my opinion ? Italy almost beat England, İreland beat them 36-0, İreland beat Scotland, Scotland beat England, Ireland smashed France, France beat England. Borthwick had a bit of luck against Ireland, but he's not good enough for international coaching. England have been mediocre and I don't expect them to be winning any trophies in the next year or two. Ireland,South Africa, New Zealand are the creme de la creme of World rugby. They might lose the odd game occasionally but they're a level above everyone else. What's it now for Ireland ? 18 or 19 wins on the trot in Dublin? That's pure class.

    • @tomb2840
      @tomb2840 Місяць тому +2
