- From the day Rhys Thomas suffered his second heart attack in the gym at Parc Y Scarlets his life was never the same again. This is the WILD story of the Wales prop, from playing test matches in Cardiff, to nights spent in prison cells to laying on the sofa for 10 hours a day playing FIFA.

I was a younger border at the same school as Rhys. He played first team with Habana. Popular guy, used to run over defenders. Glad to hear he’s on the straight and narrow - wish him all the best 👊🏼 great as always Jim
What a incredible story. 😊😊
Absolutely brilliant Interview
What a great (wild!) interview! The time just flew. Couldn’t believe that was over one and a half hours! That’s some roller coaster of a life story but ultimately positive, uplifting, thoughtful and hopeful.
Stay well Rhys mate ..... I'm thinking of you ...as you were the last of the "OLD BOYS" !!!!
.
You are FANTASTIC !!!!! mate !!!!!!!!!!
I am 57 and a whole generation my age can relate to Rhys's story on so many levels. The we have to keep the rugby community alive and well.
Absolutely fantastic interview. Came to it after reading a crappy clickbait wales online story but I'm so glad I did. Jim the personal stories outside of rugby are fascinating and you do a brilliant job of asking great questions then just listening. Rhys also so engaging, so happy to see him doing well and wish him all the best. I took a lot from this, thank you both!
Thank you ❤️
Fantastic interview. What an inspirational chat. I’m an ex-rugby player with a few 24hrs of sobriety and this really resonates with me. Thank you for this.
That was an honest, open and humbling share by Rhys. Thank you Jim for arranging this interview. Very informative and amazing how even with the worst cards dealt in life, we can still make a real difference.
Wow! What a story. One of the best interviews/podcasts I have seen in a long long time. I was enthralled. Thank you for sharing the story. Rhys is a great storyteller and his honesty is brutal at times. Jim is a good interviewer and gives his guests space to talk and tell their story. Brilliant!!
Glad to see Rhys looking well & having the strength to come through all the trauma. Made me emotional listening to his story. Love your channel Jim 👍🏼
Fascinating and insightful
Jeezuz , could not stop listening…what an honest interview- Thank you
Hands down the best podcast/video i have ever listened to. This guy would change alot of lives not just in sport but banking, law any high pressure high performance job/environment..his experiences are so prevalent in people I work with. Good luck to him ❤
We had him today doing a mental health talk absolutely amazing
Inspiring stuff what a journey so buzzing to hear breath works helps others
What a story - everyone should listen to his life & learn from his journey. God bless you Rhys & your family
Very moving. I also have a very strict SA school background (they were great schools, however). When I came to the UK - we moved backwards and forwards 4 times (so-called Soutie in SA) - I wanted to do anything to fit in. I had a SA accent - and was considered a foreigner. I was also considered a Soutie in SA by then as well - so not at home anywhere - but I loved South Africa and still do. Therefore, when I did finally come to the UK for good for A’Levels, I also went off the rails. I can associate with Rhys’s story. Wish him the best. It isn’t easy coming from a very strict environment and moving to a far too liberal and completely crazy society in the UK.
That was amazing, not what i expected, I knew about Rhys Thomas the rugby player and some of the health issues he had faced but not Rhys Thomas the man and his emotional journey. It was massively thought provoking and totally enthralling. Not sure if Rhys will ever read these comments but I would like to wish you good luck and happyness going forward and may your continued journey be both long and healthy.
Wow, such a traumatic experience over such a long time. I hope you find a new direction that can give you rewards you deserve. Your resilience and honesty will help so many others. I’m not surprised at Roger Lewis a truly horrible person.
Great work Jim and Rhys. 🤟
Brilliant interview Big Jim .

Brilliant story
My professional sporting career ended at 21 due to injury. Took my hgv licence and been driving for last 26 years.
Thanks for sharing that bro, somehow even though its a sad anecdote, its in a strange way inspirational. recently ended my own career due to injury...
@@valleyfield43 people always seem to feel like its worse if its a sporting career ended by injury. That's the breaks when that's the path you choose. I know loads os soldiers had to come out because of injury and people don't to think that's as bad.
@@bennyhill2073this is the thing it’s the addiction to adrenaline dumps both completely different but both very similar
Absolutely PHENOMENAL story, sad he went thru what he did, before seeking the help needed at day one. Live Long n Live Large Big Man, Good Luck for your future
Fair play lads, feel like I've been on a roller coaster!
This ought to be goooood 👀
Top man is Rhys 👍 👌

Subbed.

remaarkable
“ it’s only on the weekends “ that’s way way way too much! Once a month on drugs and booze over 2,3 years would be excessive . Every heart issue athlete should know better . U can’t drink every week and do drugs and expect to be ok. Great player but it’s common sense ! From a Welshman
With the loadshedding we have in South Africa he'd be F'd...a crazy life story.
Great honest story Rhys. Lekker Boet
