Hey from Hawaii and i use rock salt around the border of our garden and property boundary and never seen them for awhile. Did it twice almost a year and a half ago.
Spread a circle of diatomacous earth (sometimes called diatomaceous sand) around a plant they like and place bait inside the circle. Invasive slugs are attracted to beer (yes!). Diatoms are super sharp, and they cause the slugs to abrade and dry out.
for the snails... im a farmer from hawaii so all i can tell you is what works here: coreys PELLET form slug bait. just toss it all over the garden. done. you can get a box of it at walmart.
@@TheStuartstardust I think he said last episode he dropped that project because it would be too expensive. We haven't gotten an update on Model D though, the diesel tesla. Hoping to get some vids on that one soon.
Thanks for leaving in all the problems and troubles and not making it seem like it is instantly done. I know that, you know that, but man does it give "some people" a lot of confidence that they don't have skills to back up.
I'm from Trinidad, nice. The snail issue came and it's been a battle since. Most electric cars are the Chinese manufacturers BYD, MG, GWM. Hyundai has a few and so does the EU guys. Not many public charging stations, only Porsche has some free charging stations.
The input impedance of the meter is megaohms so it’s not telling you much, the leakage current could be micro amps. The leakage current will be due to the BMS itself. It’s important not to try to start it while the pack has a split in it (wire between them not connected), as current could try to flow through the BMS and blow it up. You were lucky that the crash sensor had tripped :)
Richrebuilds my dad's helper was from Trinidad. I became his helper later. 😂 He wanted to be called Black Joe. In California, they would gasp when I said, "Black Joe where do you want me to go." We've been fabricators since the 70s. People really don't understand what it takes to build a one-off vehicle. It's not like you call the factory for quick questions..lol. and parts stores are hilarious 😂. I'm sure you've gotten that experience 😂
The beat will do 86 just fine. They're limited to 88 from the factory. Super cool to see this swap. Factory beats are so absurdly gutless. Watch out for snap oversteer though, they're light as hell up front
Wow! What a great project. I really enjoyed this video and the skill that you and the team have in understanding how everything works and using that skill to create a new vehicle. Two thumbs up!
This really shows the difference in electrical engine technology. I remember doing a quick look at Koenigsegg recently. They have two electrical engines listed, the Quark and the Dark Matter. The Quark weigh 29 Kg and is supposed to deliver 600 Nm of torque and 250 kW of power. The Dark Matter is larger at 39Kg but sports 800 HP or about 597 KW and 1250 Nm of torque. Now these are extreme, but I heard that the latest Bugatti has an even stronger ter KG electrical engine to support the ICE engine. Tesla also have some impressive electrical engines, but quite a bit heavier. The Model S Rear Small engine weigh in at 90 Kg and consumes up to 250KW or about 300 HP and have a max torque of 330 Nm. So it seems that electrical engines have been improved a lot faster than the development of new battery chemistry. We repeatedly hear about "the next big thing" in the battery business, and it alwasy seems that within ten years they will be incredibly improved. But looking back it's been these ten years for at least 30 years now, possibly longer.
I hope you find another back wheel, that Beat gonna be hella cool with those wheels lookin like rimz on there - get that thing done, I can't wait to see the progress!
Please incorporate the archamodo dash screen to the beat gauge cluster. And handle bar controls on the dash like you did with the ev ratrod it gives it the 'OEM' touch 👌. And props to you for keeping it short
I would assume the vehicle needs to have a backup for the speedometer even if it has a GPS based system. You need a fallback if the gps is not reachable. Great video. I enjoy those! 😄
5:12 Grounds. You can see they use green/yellow instead of brown for ground. I would try to run a wire connnecting ecu and module cases to ground terminals and then to battery -ve. Sure you've thought of this, by the time I get to end of vid!!
God damn that shit looks so fucking complicated to me! Props to you guys for being able to figure All this shit out... Hope you guys get it up and running, would love to see it on the road!
I have a selection of Small, 80`s Euro Fiats I rarely use these days, so I`ve been thinking about doing something like this, especially thanks to new emissions laws here in London, they are fundamentally banned.. My smallest one, a Panda 750, with 34bhp, Is 670kg-ish wet, my basic 1.0 45bhp Fiat Uno is about 720kg. Being 5 seater hatchbacks, theres a lot more room for batteries, & the rear axle area is fairly uncluttered (in fact the Panda has enough room for a live rear axle, thanks to them being available with 4WD, which also opens up the possibility of hybrid 4x4, with an electric transaxle on the back, & the petrol FWD left operational up front, for drive, charging, or range extending). Apparently a Beat is 760kg, so I`ll be interested in seeing your final performance figures..
This is something you probably already know, but when you have unexplained voltage like that, try to see how much current it can supply to see how leaky it is. I used to work on high voltage stuff and sometimes you'd pick up a large voltage difference like that, but if you tried to light a lightbulb or something there wasn't enough current to do so. In situations like that the case needed to be grounded to stop people from getting shocked with what was effectively a static charge.
They just need figure out how to work in an always on cloud connection and RFID tags to make sure you aren't using any unauthorized or expired scent modules. Then it could really be the juicero of air fresheners.
I don't know how to build electric anything, but I like seeing car projects like the Mini. I kinda thought we'd get to see this one finished after 3 episodes instead of in theory it'll work and do this. I get problems happen and not every project is smooth sailing. Oh, well. Wonder what the next build is going to be.
The 'tilt sensor' is an inertia switch, that opens when it detects enough g-force. a tap with a screwdriver on it is usually enough to trigger. It's to shut down after a crash. Also...D-sub connectors on the outside of the batteries?? hmmm..
Are you sure you can't eat the snails too, Rich? The French consider them a delicacy. Escargots - Nissan even named a tiny cargo van after them (S-Cargo)
Always enjoy your projects over the years, and this one should be a blast. Too bad the eHot Rod and the Spark EV ate gone as making the hot rod a rear motor using the Spark EV parts could yield a very entertaining Track T type roadster and assuming it too would be much lighter than the Spark it should prove to be pretty quick. Wish I was younger and had some talent then I'd do it myself😊

Hi from Trinidad
Hey Rich it would be cool to meet up, I'll come with my Honda beat here in Trinidad

You don't give us enough credit rich, we want the fiddly details, we want to do what you do so learning is essential.
I totally agree
He could double up on views by dropping a video for normies and one for us dorks, id probably watch both.
Yep 2nd channel Rich.
Yes I’m black and also agree
99% are never building an EV. If you wanted to build like him, you would
I can't believe Rich has roots in Trinidad and Tobago. Big up from Tobago Rich!
Makes perfect sence. Some of the best people
Welcome to Trinidad and Tobago. We are probably what we call "pumpkin vine" relatives as we are related to some Benoirs on my mothers side.

I do that here in Scotland for the slugs.... We get a LOT of slugs.!

86 MPH is gonna be crazy in that car. Top speed with the ICE still in it was like 70. And that’s 70 mph at redline.
Pretty sure my Cappuccino was limited to 86mph or something. Definitely more than 70, and nowhere near redline. Was the Beat that different?

Ok, good. That bms connection makes me feel better about the 'wtf why voltage?!?' issues.
