I have favored Novak this year. I don't think he is coming tired like he did last time from a brutal RG win and then a lot of of trouble getting to the final here. Seems this time Alcaraz is coming with a lot of mileage and has faced many 5 setters and long matches in the last 5 weeks. Also don't think wind is going to be as big of a factor as last yr. On the downside Alcaraz might not come in as nervous as last year, rewarding a set, but he hasn't been at his best, serving a big bad but has bailed himself out with good 2nd serves, and Novak ofc has the knee problem, have not seen how he fares in a long match, but still gotta go with Novak
@@aurei7775 good points, Alcaraz has a lot of mileage but not as much as you state. Remember he has hardly played in the clay season due to injury and saved himself for the FO, yes he played two five setters there but that was the semi and final. Also, didn't play much at queens and while he has played more than Novak has plenty of grass court match play (sets played). Novak has more in the tank but has he faced opponents like Medvedev? So it's a trade off. Carlos has to focus on every point though
@@z1az285 Yes but Alcaraz did not play these events for a reason and could see he is nowhere near 100%, serving sticks out which is needed on grass & there is still question marks on Alcaraz when he is in these brutal matches, how he will handle himself. Novak is fresh and knowing novak he is ready to die for that slam. I see him just going into overdrive mode, I think he also realized playing the endurance game with Alcaraz does not work, he will go all out on every point and try to win asap and give no breathing room for alcaraz, i think he will leverage his freshness for this match, he still has way more experience, Alcaraz tends to come into nervous into matches, let's see if his knee and all holds up because losing is just not an option for him, I see lots of running from both players, and Novak just has to make sure the knee and legs are fine
@@aurei7775 He is serving at 132 mph, the serve speed is not an issue. But he has definitely put a few more hours than last year, which was no cakewalk. he had tough battles with jarry and berretini. we will see how both rise to the occasion but one fact is certain. Carlos cannot afford cheap errors and yes novak will definitely go into full attack mode. we will see how carlos responds
@@z1az285 Watched every Alcaraz game and he seems quite far from his best and very vulnerable. I..e even in the Humbrt match apprently humbert had more total points, shows that Alcaraz needs to outclutch to win. Like this podcast also said it's not about playing harder but smarter, and I think Alcaraz will get better but he still plays real hard to win and it has shown to be costly many times, and i would not be surprised if it will come to haunt him here if not the USO. With Novak he also learns from matches, i.e struggles vs new comers a lot, even vs that Fearnley guy, and I think Novak that has the best team of medical experients, statisticians, tacticicians will find weaknesses and learn from last yrs defeat, which i believe was the 1st time they played on grass. Also wind was a factor, not sure how many it will be this time, and novak has a pretty bad track record in very windy conditions
@@aurei7775 Actually this is what JCF said about the upcoming match..."Even so, Ferrero considers Djokovic the favourite, despite the fact that he has recently recovered from a meniscus operation, which forced him to retire from Roland Garros. “If we’re realistic, because of the experience he has of these kinds of finals and the number of titles he has at Wimbledon, the favourite is Djokovic,” Ferrero said. “Obviously, we know the potential Carlos has. In the team, we like to think that if Carlos plays well he will make things very difficult for Novak, but we know Djokovic’s level. Even on bad days he knows what to do and how to come through those problems, so we’re expecting a very high level in the match from Novak.”
The facts are that Carlos hasnt looked too good the whole tournament , 5 sets with Tiafoe who Novak would destroy in straight sets , losing first set to both Paul and Meddy , while Novak won his last 2 matches in straight sets , if Carlos has a slow start he will quickly find himself down 2 sets , Novak simply underestimated Carlos last year and it cost him the title , a mistake he won’t commit twice !!
I mean draws have to matter when you make comparisons like this. Alcaraz played a top 15 and a top 5 player and still looked extremely good in the final sets of those matches. Idc how musetti’s grass season was it’s still his first gs semi and Nole didn’t even have to play a quarterfinal. Given the Nole dropped a set to Fearnley you can’t guarantee that he would’ve beaten Tiafoe in straights cuz he never had to play someone near that level with that style
And Alcaraz has had the experience of a Wimbledon final and win. As he said he will always be nervous on center court, but he will be better prepared this time. One thing is certain, it will be a battle. Alcaraz is not musetti. Period
Joel, a slice is offense when the opponent has no effective consistent slice themselves, or poor net game. It's often a setup shot in those scenarios for aggression, li Fed used to do oh so often. But against Novak, he can deal with that slice with just as good, likely better one himself when compared to Mussetti....and even with a drop shot or aggressive backhand. The slices the Italian produced, rarely created offense against Novak...hence the Gill argument that it kind of came across as defensive.
The"problem" with Alcaraz, for both him and his opponents, is the fact that he is a living chaos of tennis. The guy has no plan ans tactics and that is very hard to play for him but also very hard to play against, you cant prepare against chaos. The fact that Alacarz can somewhat control that chaos is why he is so hard to beat, but on the other hand Djokovic is like a best calibrated machine that knows exactly what he is doing. If you asked me at this point of their careers who has a higher peak game, its probably Alacaraz. On the other hand Novak can play his peak game for a much longer period of time on the court, Alacarz has had many lows during this Wimbledon and its expected in the final that he has at least 1 or 2 sets where Novaks 80-90% will be enough to win them. I also know that there wilk be at least 1-2 sets where Alcaraz will peak his game and will be at 120%. Feels like all in all we will have 2 lower level sets from Alcaraz and 2 incredible Alcaraz sets and 1 set that will be the decider where both players will be at around 90%. Incredible contrast of styles, robotic % game vs chaotic mix of power and talent.
You know there are some interesting things Novak has said of late. One was during the semi final victory - his story about being a kid with a dream - normally reserved for when he wins a slam - I think he lacked belief that he could win Wimbledon even before the final started, and pre-empted his speech. Secondly, the use of the present tense to talk about his tennis in general, rather than specifically the alcaraz match. He said "I am a step behind" or something similar, post match. He knows this is about more than just the knee and the final.
She's certainly very good looking, without a doubt. But Amy's knowledge, thought processing and understanding of my favorite sport just makes her dreamy!
@@rajeshsmusical Totally, no one said Carlos is unbeatable. As he himself said, he feels nervous on center court and has taken time to settle in but he has experienced a center court Wimbledon final, so hopefully he will be locked in. Nothing less will work vs Novak. Did I ever imply otherwise? Incidentally Carlos can serve big and returns extremely well. So both will have their hands full. What are you smoking?
The people who were saying will nole win another major were just dumb to be honest. These people were acting like nole was losing in the first and second rounds of majors. I think the tennis world needs to learn how to chill out some. The way they react is so over the top.
Djokovic is yet to win a major in 11 months . In fact he hasn't even beaten a top 10 player this year. I predict alcaraz to unofficially retire him on sunday
When will u all learn...in about 2015 Novak reached GOD mode. That means barring injury, and lack of motivation, if he wants something he gets it 9/10 times. I am not guaranteeing slam wins, but when Novak says slams are a priority don't count him out. It was obvious the motivation was back at RG. Hoping Novak gets 25 on Sunday....as he says, Alcaraz has a lot more time to get other slams 🙂
@@kingnole4237 Nadal & Djokovic are at opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to how they approach medical matters. Nadal had no issue with listening to the so called experts who recommended getting multiple countermeasure injections, whereas Djokovic said no.
I think Joel is right. Musetti wasn't simply relying on defense. He used short slices in combination with big redirected top spin strokes to move Fritz and Novak around the court.
@@andrewadams6081 Yeah, definitely. Carlos served 35% first serves in set 1 vs Medvedev. If he does that, he will get hammered. So, he has to raise his level. Be locked in, from point one
Really want Alcaraz to win Wimbledon tomorrow. I think Alcaraz has a point to prove tomorrow. I think Alcaraz is going to make a statement tomorrow. I feel it will be a 4 set match tomorrow for whoever wins.
I don't have a concern about no top 10 win or a title this year. However, I do have concerns about Djokovic's long point recovery and rally tolerance. Lower body injury means no cardio leading up to the tournament. 3-4 wks of just rehab means cardio wise he'll be at a disadvantage. Sinner (hip) felt that in the 5th at RG and Novak will struggle here. Also, thought he was a bit slow in and out of the corners and Carlos' ball will have alot more heat than Musetti's did. Plus for Novak, Carlos has dips so I see Novak getting at least a set but ultimately won't be lifting the trophy.
Musetti did frustrate Djokovic with his defense today, slicing the ball back deep. At some points Djokovic was rushing and trying to finish the rallies quicker but ended up making errors.
@@edkiely2712 Easily said after it was over but it was closer than the match vs Rune for sure. If Musetti won set 2, who knows what’s gonna happen. But overall Djokovic was a bit better in rallies he would grind out Musetti anyway.
@tehatte "If the bullfrog had wings he could fly!" "If Roger executed one more ace/point, he'd be a 9x Wimbledon champion!" Novak was never in jeopardy of losing control against the hot-headed Musetti, let alone in danger of losing the match!
The Djoker got DENIED!!! Complete beat down by the new KING of wimbledon and future GOAT of tennis. 👑💪🇪🇦 And to those Djoko riders, better get used to King Carlos winning GS on a regular basis in the future. Djokovic needs to retire now. Have a goooood night! 😂
He was disqualified from the US Open because he accidentally hit the referee. They invited him, let him enter Australia, then imprisoned him and deported him. They did not let him enter and play in the USA. At Roland Garros they put him to play from 11 pm to 4 am. Then, when he complained that it was slippery, they didn't want to wet the clay, so he got hurt. He has been playing in a hostile atmosphere for 20 years. Why? Because he is from small, freedom-loving Serbia, because he is not a globalist model, but a brave heart with a free soul. Enough is enough.
And in first half of 2018 Novak hasn't beaten any big opponent, also at Wimbledon in his first 5 matches. Then he beat Rafa in semis (who won Roland Garros 5 weeks before). Hope Novak can do similar thing tomorrow.
Novak has been improving from match to match, and he will need to improve some more for the next match against Carlos. Not only must he improve, but he needs to find a way of beating Carlos in 4 sets. If this match goes to a deciding set, Novak will be in trouble. I am obviously a Novak fan, but I have to give the edge to Carlos in this match. I hope I am wrong.
The contrast was indeed apparent, nay evident. Whilst Nole made the elegant edifice called Lorenzo look rather ordinary, he wasn't the same experienced craftsman on the day against Carlitos - his unparalleled patterns deserted him, his giant leaps to the net did make him look like a flurried Prince of Grass (Fedex hasn't been dethroned yet!) attempting to throw a spanner in the works but alas! Weren't we told at a Quantum Physics class that the past, no matter how grand and imposing, is powerless against an unknown present moment - in this case, Carlitos. The experience of 10 Wimby finals did not come to his rescue, why just why! The best ever 'return-er' of serve was left clutching at straws! Time remains a trickster. It's time for Novak to hear his own words - "He has nothing to lose." Frankly, Novak has indeed nothing to lose, nothing to prove to anyone. With a strapped knee and age against him, he shone in the third set like the champion that he has come to be! This loss will not crush his spirit nor rush him into oblivion. On the contrary, he will make a mark on clay - Olympics, no less, and move like a gazelle at Flushing Meadows! Patience! ❤🔥🎾
Exactly! While ANY surgery is a hurdle to overcome; as Dr. Sutterer pointed out, Novak playing, and playing well, is not to be seen as some "miracle comeback." Listening to ESPN and other analysts, you'd think he had a heart transplant!
My issue is Novak isn't fully fit ..he is still recovering, it doesn't appear jarring because he had an easy draw...he hardly had to do much. Against Alcaraz, it will be a problem
So, I do disagree with Nole not being tested though. Don’t those 2 grueling come from behind 5 set wins at Roland Garros count? I mean come on. That’s what defines Djokovic and it was on his least favorite surface where he had to absolutely grind. I truly believe those 2 huge wins were massive misses in your assessment. Thoughts?
Why do I keep hearing people say Novak hasn’t been tested, Carlos hasn’t been tested either. Meddy is not good on grass, he beat a sick and injured sinner. As if Novak needs to be tested on grass anyway
Well the pressure is all on the kid. The last time a match was played with such age difference - leaving aside last year's Wimbledon and French open - was between Connnors and Rosewall way back in 1974. Connors destroyed Rosewall in that match. Novak is not only 16 years older than Alcaraz, he has been out of form this year. To compound his misery, he had a meniscus tear and a surgery. Most expected him - particularly very jealous Fedal fans - not to play this Wimbledon. But he disappointed them playing and frustrated them reaching the finals. There is no excuse for the kid to lose to this weakened version of Novak; he should win it in straight sets; if it goes to 4, it will be a crime; if it goes to 5th it will be a disgrace; if Novak wins it will be utter abomination for the kid and he should quit tennis for good .😂😂😂😂
@@jonasbertilbellander No pressure. With a lame leg he reached the finals and thst is a miracle in itself. Even 3 days before the Championship, he wasn't sure he will participate.
Whoever doubted him is a fool. Djoker is the dark lord of optimization, absorbing any god's ability and leaving behind shrivelled dead space where there is no light and is vacuum. Roger's last remaining records are never safe. He better stay hidden in the hotel.
Hi @gill good preview again! But I notice that this time the Wimbledon main courts are far less greener than ever before.. and also the skidding and speeds seems way slower... is it done to suit Alcaraz????????
Touch, yes Alcaraz has edge....but overall net game??? Are we watching the same players. Djokovic right now one level above Alcaraz there.... certainly Alcaraz has potential to exceed that in the coming years because Djokovic started developing the net game so late in his career....but right now, no way is Alcaraz better at net when it comes to using it as a strategy....maybe reactionary net game given his touch....but who uses net game primarily in this reactionary way?? When it comes to using it as a weapon, Djokovic has the level up imo
The Djokovic story thus far is his joke of a draw. Alcaraz has beaten players with a combined 14,201 ranking points, Djokovic just 9,530, and if you pull out the de Minaur walkover, 5,700 points. Alcaraz should win on Sunday--it would be the just result.

Really? He has menisectomy knee surgery and two weeks later he's moving like this, and you guys aren't at least a tiny bit suspicious about the the speed of the recovery? Is there a signle example in the history of sports where someone recovered this quick with purely legal, natural treatment?
Djokovic knows a lot about holistic medicine. It's on the fringes because modern mainstream medicine, which is basically the big pharmaceutical corporations, see it as a threat to their dominance & they are constantly attacking it & trying to make it illegal.
Lol sure you must be a Rafa fan. Why would you doubt Novak for any suspicious stuff? He literally gave up the USO and AO so as to not take an experimental "vaccine". He could've taken it and won those tournaments. Or him being who he is could've produced a fake certificate and got entry (cos the so called vaccine didn't prevent one from getting the disease). He didn't do either. And it's not just sudden recovery. He has primed his body to be this efficient for over a decade now. It's really sad to see haters clutch on to vague things to discredit Novak but will not utter a single word when Roidal was clearly using stuff.
Carlos didn't have a tough draw either. Novak tough guys were eliminated early. Even Alex was not a threat to Novak and pkayers do get walk over and now Novak git one and it's a big deal. People always watched Novak draw and make a big deal about and sickening guys. What did Novak do to all of you. Just stop it.

You can always tell by novak's eyes and speech what his energy and attitude is.. he's looked much more positive, focused and elevated above all the records and history this year and isnt pushing. No doubt he wants to break records, but he kind of dodged it in the press conference when asked about tying roger's record. it almost feels like he knows getting to the final at all this year is a blessing and he isnt putting as much pressure on himself to win but knows he can if he can serve well and keep the level up. I think if he can stay in that mindset of gratitude instead of feeling like hes still proving something - he can win. Last year there was a heaviness and stress about him even though he was winning more. I think all the things that happened out of his control this year was the "yoga" he needed to let go a little of the pressure he puts on himself. And he will be the underdog so that always bodes well for him.
I just wish he wins #25 and #8. Dont care if he doesnt win a slam from here on if he can get this.
Bro has been saying this for every slam😂😂. Dopovic has had enough luck already
What a great tennis show! I just learn and enjoy a lot watching the three of you talking about this noble sport!
Period
Agreed.
Carlos was lucky at that day
@@kingnole4237 Winners make their own luck. I don't care if it's Novak or Carlos. Simple as that
Joel, a slice is offense when the opponent has no effective consistent slice themselves, or poor net game.
Because he relies on coaching too much, kind of BS that tennis allows this now.

Let’s go Novak 💪💪💪💪

Nothing less will work vs Novak. Did I ever imply otherwise? Incidentally Carlos can serve big and returns extremely well. So both will have their hands full. What are you smoking?
The people who were saying will nole win another major were just dumb to be honest. These people were acting like nole was losing in the first and second rounds of majors. I think the tennis world needs to learn how to chill out some. The way they react is so over the top.
Yeah, it's like those people saying in January that Djokovic would win the Golden Calendar Grand Slam in 2024 - that was very dumb!
Djokovic is yet to win a major in 11 months . In fact he hasn't even beaten a top 10 player this year. I predict alcaraz to unofficially retire him on sunday
Doesn't look like those ppl are so dumb after all!🤣 Today could easily be Novak's last Slam final!

I think Joel is right. Musetti wasn't simply relying on defense. He used short slices in combination with big redirected top spin strokes to move Fritz and Novak around the court.
If Novak is fully fit and agile, He will win. There is no wind factor to help Carlos this year. Hope the legend makes more history 🙏💪
People forget Novak was a set point away from going 2-0 last year, should of been straight sets. Then the win picks up and Novak loses focus
Not me. Novak is the GOAT but in my mind it's time for him to move on. This is the Sinner/Alcaraz era. I'm ready for a change 🤨
And a lot will depend on how Carlos serves and returns. Most important, Carlos cannot afford lapses.
I think if Novak serves 70-75 % first serves in he will win!
@@andrewadams6081 Yeah, definitely. Carlos served 35% first serves in set 1 vs Medvedev. If he does that, he will get hammered. So, he has to raise his level. Be locked in, from point one

I hope Novak wins. I loved his comment that he will cheer for Alcaraz 😂 Always looking for a psychological kink / advantage

Last year Djokovic served bad in final hope this will not repeat
@@kingnole4237 Djokovic didn't serve "bad". Alcaraz returned everything
Patience! ❤🔥🎾

@@iya3757 I mean, yeah that's true. There's something that just feels weird about this recovery speed.
