2007 - 2021 : Nadal skipped 8 GS's and 27 Hardcourt Masters.. BUT.. not a single clay GS or Clay Masters was missed
Amazing how Nadal can NEVER be injured during his much preferred clay season for 15 years straight !!!

There's a reason the H2H is close between him and Djokovic. Last 10 matches: 7 on clay, 2 on HC, 1 on grass, none on indoor HC. 70% on a surface played about 30% of the season!

Interesting debate about Alcaraz wanting to meet Djokovic on the final. Joel and Amy clearly feel very differently about what they would prefer 🙂 not sure Carlos would want Sinner instead though. Also there is a stark contrast in his approach to Jannik's who, when asked about potentially meeting Novak in the semis, said that was far too far ahead to think about, one match at a time..maybe neither approach is wrong, it's what works for them.

This was a few years back, but a reporter asked Rafa if wanted to play Nole in the final. His response, was no, I'm not stupid. It was such an honest answer. I think when a player is very young, they may look forward to playing the best in final, but most people would like to win the tournament. I think Carlos need to focus on Carlos, this is a slam, it is not easy to win.

There is a very good reason that Nadal -.despite claims of being injury prone and quitting many grass, hard and indoor tournaments throughout his career - hasn't missed out even playing a single French open except for last year. Even this year, he will in all probability play the French open and even win it. Afterall, didnt this disingenuous man win the 2022 French open despite administering intravenous injections to his leg before his every match as his team claimed.
In contrast, you have Novak who has been unfairly accused often of faking injuries by Fedal fanatics but has played in all French open since he started his professional career.
So the question of who fakes injury for a good reason and who is real is rather obvious. Even between 2017-2018 when Novak was struggling with an elbow injury he never quit matches. He infact generously gave credit to his opponents, even ranked outside top 50 then, for defeating him.
In the current circumstance, Nadal claimed he has a micro (very small) muscle tear which might indeterminably impact his performance in a five set match. That is the most bizarre excuse one can give and still the biased western media has so much sympathy for his plight without raising logical questions.

Joel is wrong about wanting to face Novak in AO. Amy is correct if you want to win you don't want to face the Goat. His only goal this season is to even up H2H against nole, deny nole RG and olympic gold (all on clay). If i cant be THE GOAT atleast i will have some say in denying nole winning everything there is in tennis (only olympic gold eludes him) 💪

So true. Their last 10: 7 have been on clay, 2 on hard, 1 on grass, and no indoor hard. For a surface played significantly less than hard, that is very telling. Both that Novak can consistently go deep in clay to face Nadal, and that Nadal either cannot go deep into HC tournament consistently, or that he is avoiding Djokovic.

Secret Sauce of longevity for Nole is working GRRRREEEAAATTTT!. Novak is his own biggest chalanger/adversary. AO-24! Let's see what happens. Let's get more out of 2024! Rafa injury just too bad for his comeback - think he will not be 100% and it's just unfortunate-so NOT hopeful he will be back in top=tier form. Djoker wrist/elbow issue seems to be non-factor at this point - FIRST ROUND for Novak was EPIC with Dino! Think Grigor, Yannick, Meddy & Carlitos are the biggest challengers. Nole wins it all for #25. Thanx Amy, Joel & Gill. Cheers, Milan

  • @marekwichniarek268

Amy is wrong at that point - obviously Alcaraz wants to play against Novak in the final. I don't follow his interviews a lot but still heard quite many times how he wants to be the best in the history, and to be the best you need to beat the best, and he says it's Djokovic right now. And I like that honesty - if that helps Alcaraz I'm not sure but that's other thing. I appreciate him being honest. The other thing is if there's any logic in that because he can only play Novak past his physical prime, Novak absolutely doesn't have legs and cardio of his 2011-2016 self right now. Even in 2018-19 he didn't have. So in case of losing finals/semis against Novak all this talk can possibly hurt Carlitos more than help him. It's more probable that Alcaraz will of course be winning more against Novak than losing from now but it's still very young Alcaraz versus very old Novak. It's not 6 years like between Novak and Roger, not 1 year like between Novak and Rafa. Those are proper, relevant rivalries - not between the guys with 16 years gap. It can be very interesting - but we don't watch either prime Novak or prime Carlitos right now.
