Very helpful. I am new to Sea-Doo fuel systems but this instructional video will help me get a 1996 Sea Doo bombardier XP running again. Thank you so much!
Really appreciate you making this video man i got 2 seadoos same year as the one your working on that have always been giving me problems. Maybe now after watching your video i'll be able to get them back in the water
One thing I would suggest on the zip ties is, make sure you use outdoor rated zips as they are designed to be more weather resistant. He may have used the outdoor zips but often the white/clear ties are not the outdoor ones. Hope this helps.
On the selector valve,I would have installed the hoses, then installed the valve. I wouldn’t use zip ties on a fuel system, not equal pressure all around the nipple,it can pop off from vibration of the ski and motor.
I generally concur with your comment regarding zip ties, & have a pinch tool for the OEM metal clamps. However Seadoo does have a special zip tie for this purpose. The little squared end that holds the locking mechanism is curved on one side. This allows it to conform precisely around the fuel lines. You have to specify, & I’ve only seen them at the dealers. I used them on a ‘95 SPI, they work, no leaks.
Thank you so much for the video bro I was having a hell of a time this was the only video that actually helped me figure out exactly what I needed to know
One of those rubber orings you stacked in the fuel selector before putting the nut on went on the other side of the plastic. Like you put it on the selector before putting it back in the hole. Not a big deal just avoids metal rubbing on the body of the Jetski
I have the exact same model 1996 GTI. At WOT I was getting 42-43 mph. But lately, the ski starts out that speed, but after a few minutes I detect it bogging down slightly, and WOT produces 37-39mph. If I shake it up, it will then go back to 42mph for a few minutes and then bog down again. I can also detect that the RPM is not quite maximum. I must mention that this started when the tank had 1/4-1/3 gas left. when I bought the ski a month ago, it hadn't been used in 4 years and I emptied 5 gallons of nasty gas. I didn't get it all, but I filled the tank with fresh gas hoping to dilute the little bad gas I couldn't pump out. I have concluded that my present problem is a fuel delivery problem. So the first thing will be to check and replace the fuel filter. I'm not the type to do a complete fuel system rebuild, just change suspected parts one at a time until the problem is fixed. This video is excellent.
Great sound and angles were very good you made it look easy. You covered all steps I'm about to help my friend with the same fuel problem thanks for sharing
I just bought an old sea doo with the green goo! I did the same. But the pick up lines in the tank were completely gone. You might want to replace them as well!!
Ok I have a question I took the motor out put everything back except one line. I can’t figure out where it goes or I don’t see it. Hopefully you can help. I’m gonna try and send you a photo.
I did rebuild my carburetor and hoses but it's not priming fuel from the pump another post said to mix oil and fuel and dump some in the carburetor how did you get fuel flowing back through the system thanks
I have a 98 seadoo xp the fuel lines are no connected to the fuel selector knob? Any idea for this? It started in guys driveway ran for a bit now won't turn over. Union inspection I notice no lines to fuel selector.
Great video- thank you for making it. I have 94 seadoo spx. previous owner took out the t for the vent line and now just has the hose going to vent below the rail on left side of seadoo. There are 3 vents on my seadoo (one below left side rail, one below right side rail, and one up top. Wondering which line goes to which vent hole? You almost showed where the t vent lines go from your gas tank.
Adam Paganelli hey Adam I have a 99 gti 3 seater I took it out it idles perfectly fine i took it for a spin then it bogs out bought the ski a year ago and I’m barley taking it out the guy I bought it from said it was running fine and all just the ski sat there for a yr with fuel but I put the stabilizer seafoam in it turns on easily idles nice just bogs out when I give it full throttle what should I do?
@@rolfbach2721 yea i told the wife im selling these dang boats and getting a camper. all yea gota do to them is washem and grease the bearings once in awhile. ok well maybe we`ll have both love me boats to. lol
Please don't use a vacuum cleaner / shop vac to prime fuel lines or remove old gas. Gas vapors plus spark from electric vacuum motors equals a very bad day. Tons of great info in your videos. Keep them coming. Any chance you'll be working on 951 or 787 Seadoo engines in the future?
I can’t find any videos of replacing the pickup lines that go into the tank. Mine had disintegrated from ethanol corrosion. They are immersed in the fuel inside and out. One of those, the reserve fuel, is longer than the normal line by an inch I suppose. The clear lines had turned to gunk and completely lost their function. I’m going to use conventional rubber fuel lines this time and I will keep an eye on them. There is a big difference between 1992 fuel and present day fuel. Clearly these factory lines aren’t suited for today’s gas.
I know it's been a few years since this video was done. Do you have an estimate of how much fuel line you used. I'm in the process of doing exactly what you have done in this video. Thanks!
Hey mate, Appreciate you putting this video together. I'm in Australia and bought one if these seadoo off a mate. It was supposed to be running ok but wasn't, I've rebuilt the carbs. I still need to replace the fuel lines. But he's installed a fuel pump into it and I'm wondering if they originally had one. Does yours have one or does is just run off vacuum?
green gue in the fuel system? I had a red Gue in my system and the only way to break it down and remove it was clean all old gasoline out of the tank first. The pour Acetone into the tank. Swirl it about with a long wooden stick and the extract it with the fuel pump extractor? Then more acetone and a clean new white rag! DONE! Obviously we removed the fuel pump module in our 2003 sea doo GTX DI before the steps mentioned?
Good job Adam but I must say I seen so many ways you could have put clamps on not zip ties when you're going down a waterway in a hose comes off and that gas or spilling everywhere you'll wish you had not used zip ties on. Actually know someone who did the same thing you did and the jet ski blew up caught fire 60゚ Burns
I would not use regular zip ties. The dealer has ties made for this. They have a curve on the little locking block, so they conform to the fuel line, exerting equal pressure
Great video but i just gotta say someone totally did you dirty because they bought 2 pto carbs meaning they bought 2 of the exact same carbs instead of buying the left and the right one. The only reason it matters is because you had to use a y connector on the return line of the carbs. When you shouldn't need to do any of that. I reccomend that you take a good pressure test because i almost guarantee you can get some more performance out of the ski if you use hose clamps
For this application I don't think Zip ties would be too much of an isue. Potentially yes they may not clamp as well as the metal clamps but I would trust them for fuel lines
The truck is to use the lay flat zip ties. They apply a much better equal pressure all the way around the fitting. If you have to use the regular kind. use two and make them so the square tightening part is opposite each other .

Hey Adam, this video is great!! The first video I can find on this with quality content. I just bought a 96 seadoo SPI and it is bogging at about 10-15mph. It fires right up and ran the first couple of days I had it out. Yesterday I had it out and after running for about an hour it began to bog at full throttle. What would you start to work on? Thanks.
Sidney paxton did you end up fixing your issue mine seadoo is bogging out also ran fine for a bit then bog out at full throttle idles good and starts up easily but bogs out
@@josecollazos6 also, once found a mouse nest that was blocking the airflow in another seadoo. Fixed the bogging issue! Could be something simple.. start with the easy tasks and go there!! Ever tried seafoam?
This guy does not know anything about rebuilding seadoo first of all you want to make sure you get a aftermarket selector valve because if you go buy New Old Stock for that model from a Seadoo place it will not run because the new fuel swells the rubber grommet up in the selector valve and shuts off the fuel second he's running a crap acid-filled battery those are junk you have to have a solid cell battery then also you want to do away with the regular Seadoo filter and run a inline filter you always want to check your low and high speed screws to make sure they are close to the book and you want to run the Clearblue racing line and do away with the old black or gray lines also you want to upgrade your two oil lines immediately then you want to take your main gas line and always do a pressure check to make sure that your fuel system is holding pressure in the tank to force the fuel back if you have a bad gas cap seal for tank valve it will cost you a piston it will create a lean condition because of lack of fuel pressure this guy doesn't know anything

On the selector valve,I would have installed the hoses, then installed the valve. I wouldn’t use zip ties on a fuel system, not equal pressure all around the nipple,it can pop off from vibration of the ski and motor.
I think that happened to mine... about 1 - 2 gallons of fuel in the hull after just about 20 mins of trying to get it to start on the water.
