Building The Ultimate Hot Rod In 20 Minutes - Ford Free-T
Вставка
- Опубліковано 19 жов 2024
- In 2019 we completed our build series on the Ford Free-T and have it carefully tucked away in preparation for the 2020 driving season. We figured it would be a great start to the year to show what the car started as; a pile of free parts, and show off the final product. The Free-T started as a slap together down and dirty hot rod that we could thrash on at the local racing events, but the plans and vision changed. The Free-T has become a one of kind car, and we hope you enjoy watching the whole process! Thanks for watching and be sure to subscribe, 2020 is going to be unforgettable!

I am 81 years old and lived through a lot of the early classic hot rod times and what I have just witnessed you build is a fantastic example of highly skilled fabrication. Well done fellows.
Thanks so much for watching!
It makes you realize the amount of hard work that has gone into building this and the result is stunning.
Still can’t believe how lucky Mike was that day he set himself on fire 🔥
We still ride him hard about that!!
Well that is the No1 video of 2020 already 🙌🏻
Nailed it !
For sure!!!
Oh man ! i completely forgot what you started with !
I can't believe you looked at that pile of floppy flimsy sheet metal and decided to build a car out of it ! Awesome car and and a great build series !
I'd love to see an episode called
'' How Free Is That T ? ''
Man hours , what did you buy sell & trade . How close did you get to a free T
Be proud all of you who made this possible. Thank you for everything; the adventure, the skills & knowledge expressed, the fun, the fubars, the fantastic education & entertainment. This video alone deserves an award. Excellent, excellent efforts all 'round. Very well done Iron Trap Garage!
Thanks for watching!
All I can say guys is Wow! Beautiful car. It puts a smile on my face to see that their are still real Craftsman out there such as your self.
What I like about this video is for people who just found you.
Don't maybe understand Hot Rodding or just curious in what it takes to do a project.
Thumbs up as always. 👍👍👍
I'm always amazed at the quality of your workman ship, It's a gift that few people have.
Gramps
It is amazing to see the time-lapse on the Free-Tee Hot Rod build it really showed all of the hard work that was put in on it. Just one thang to add I would love to see Free-Tee go down the road once the weather clears up.
I'm an old hot rodder all most 80 love your make anything work mindset can't do too much stuff anymore living in an Apt complex you remind myself in the 60's
I look forward to watching you next video.
Thanks for watching!
Watching this montage makes the "free-t" look like it was a piece of cake.
Those of us that watched the build series know better, nice job and I hope Ya'll can enjoy it for many years to come!
Truly amazing the before and after, this is how a t should be done, hope to see it out this summer at the shows
You nailed the look and feel of a V8-T.
Sweet! A ton of work was well worth it.i love the sound of that flat head
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing! When you first started on the Ford Free Tee, I thought it was to be a build without Ford components so I didn't follow it, but she is a work of art!
Build without Ford components? You jumped ship way too quick haha. Thanks for watching!
hahaha instead of "Ford Free Tee" it was "Free Ford Tee". What a beauty it is and has "Traditional Hot Rod" all over it. Matt is not only a great builder but also has a great eye for traditiona hot rods the way we built them back in the day. Way to go Matt!
Apart from the great craftsmanship I always get so relaxed being in that garage of yours. Have a great 2020 guys!
A permanent record of craftsmanship and hard work. I like other viewers forgot what you started with !
That has to be one of the coolrst builds I've ever watched felt like i was there right with you all tools and yalent in hand that was amazing built to the hilt tight and right loved every thing about it at 70yrs old now that ride brings back everything a hot rod was to me my dream ride😍❤😉 one of those and a 57 T-Bird. Maybe a Vincent Black shadow what more coulda fella want well maybe a young Stevie Nicks😍😂😁✌
Amazing work! And to think you built her from the ground up in only 20 minutes! Very impressive!
I love that build .....need to win the lottery to get one built similar here in the 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Awesome montage. Great video to start the new year. You guys inspire me to get off my butt and get out in the shop. Keep em coming. Fan for life. Thanks.
Great video and what makes it even greater is not having typical head banging music so typical of these car building videos! Thumbs up!
EDIT: 6:02 Never mind......
OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhh ''' WOW '' THE INTERIOR IS BEAST '' !!!!!! .. GREAT CHOICE AWESOME TASTE...
TOTALLY CLASSIC ... I WANT ONE .. ACTUALLY THIS ONE .... LOL .... WOW !! ... DAMN THAT IS ALL FREE HAND .... NO STENCILS
NOW THAT IS OLD SCHOOL ARTISTY ... BEAUTIFUL WHAT '' NO '' RUMBLE SEAT SHUCKS ...
Some of the very best sheet metal fabrication I've ever seen!
When I found IronTrap the Free T was nearly finished and there was too many new things in progress to go back and catch up, so this was a nice vid to watch. You have done an amazing job, she looks fantastic and the level of craftsmanship is second to none. I don't know if you have heard of Bad obsession motorsport, Project Binky, but your's and their channel are my 2 favorite on YT on cars. Keep on keeping on and Happy New Year.
Dale Skidmore checkout cold war motors as well. Another fantastic channel!!
@@patmclean1951 Cheers Pat, I will.
@@patmclean1951 I second that. Great efforts & good fun by all involved.
Thanks Matt. Really makes you appreciate the work that went into the build. And that flatty sounds incredible. Can't wait to hear it live
Thanks for watching!
We love this car. The first build my wife and I did was a T- Bucket back in 1987 - 1988. It wasn't steel but it was an old Speedway body. Watching this car come back to life was a walk down memory lane for us. Thank you for all you and the crew bring to the table, for all your fellow Hot Rodders. Happy New Year.
That’s awesome the wife and yourself built one together! That’s what it’s all about! Creating lasting memories and building something with your own hands!
One of your top 5 videos of all time. Great start for 2020.
This is the kid of car that pops to mind when I hear the words "Hot Rod."
Build a complete Hot Rod in 20 minutes? They do that on TV, all the time! Lol.
Thanks for showings us how hard....and fun, it really is! Happy 2020!
Tony B
Luscious engine song. Stunning over-all build. A dream ride for anybody.
This just came up in my recommendations. Never seen anything before by these guys. One of the best fabrication videos that I've ever seen. Makes me want to try harder to get good myself. Amazing.
Thanks so much for watching!
👍 That is a great build Bro!
Kudos to you for evolving to here!
Then, you fired up the Flattie!
Yeah, baby!
Hi guys, beautiful work, many hours of effort and sacrifice invested in finishing a work of art of mechanics, as I always tell you I speak Latin Spanish and I understand very little of what they say in the videos but it is exciting to see them work giving signature to Every piece of sheet metal, with a lot of neatness and passion for what you do, I hope I have not bored you with my comment and I hope that the Google translator manages to translate correctly what I wanted to express. I send you a big hug and many blessings for you and your families In this 2020 that has just begun, his friend from Argentina.
Gents: I've watched hours of Matt TIG welding and have never seen a foot pedal control. I thought there was one involved? Keep up the great work and thanks for the many hours of enjoyment.
Matt uses a thumb controlled tig welder instead. Some folks are better with thumb than foot . :)
After a 💩 ton of work, the payoff moment @19:44 . Listen to the music! Well done!!
Thanks for watching!
Such a great build, your assortment of skills is amazing. Well done!
Thanks so much!
"Wow that was a big project."
"Hear that?....... so solid."
It was a heavy metal pleasure to watch this "Free T in 20 min." vid. Matt is the super-best of all old- school hot-rod craftsmen!
Haha those little clips are funny to watch for me! Those little victories help you get through a long project! Thanks for watching!
The work you did on that tranns tunnel is a work of art... Nice!
This has been the absolute best build series I have ever seen. The amount of build time you showed was excellent, and it showed just how difficult it is to build a car from scratch. This wasn't a buy all the parts and put it together with a how-to manual, this was a create each part by building it and then create the next and on and on. I was truly amazed by your ability to think on your feet and change your mind in mid-stride. This is a stepping stone to bigger and better things to come and I wish you all the luck in achieving your goals, and I hope to be here watching it all come true.
Thanks so much for the kind words David! These are my favorite cars to build and are so satisfying when done!
@@IronTrapGarage I like when you say "when done." There were times I'm sure you might have thought oh my God this is going to take forever, like when you were doing the tunnel and floorboards for instance when it was done you sat down in a chair with a look on your face of pure relieve and satisfaction, I do know what that feeling is like also.
Have really enjoyed watching the progress from start to finish, you’ve built a bad ass little hot rod there Matt well done 👍🏻. Keep those videos coming they’re an inspiration that has got me back in the shed working on rebuilding the motor in my 50 Pontiac 🤘🏻
It takes a real craftsman to do what you guys do. 👍👍
Thank you!
Holy 💩 Mike, an unbelievably incredible 20 minutes!! Great selection of video from probably 600 hours of footage. I have an idea brewing...🤔
Absolutely love the look of this car! One of my favorites, for sure! 🇺🇸👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸
What a fantastic way to start out the new year! That “little car” is a BIG FREAKING SUCCESS !!! Thank you for bringing us along.
Awesome twenty minute fast forward Free T new year recaps of the prettiest car on UA-cam. Great stuff thanks for taking the time and putting this video together guys.

Thanks for watching Gordon!
You can be proud of it, it's perfect in every way
Watching this video of you guys building ball the welding going I could sware I could smell that O zone smell youi get from all that welding, And you get watch this car come to life, I always love the T roadsters I had glass 23 T bucket I put together from part from a wreaked car 30 Chevy boxed frame Pontiac Fire bird rear end. home built wooden pick up bed, Small block Chevy V8 power glide trans, I never finished the car had to sell it to support my family, wasn't happy with way tha radiator was higher the the cowl but did get to see it finished and on the road. Well I did do most of the work. it didn't come close to what your doing but was fun putting together. Your T looks great.
Wow what an artist. Craftsman, artist, engineer. Very Very cool. BUT....I just noticed how cool your hat is. DUDE, where can I get a hat like that?
Yep craftsmanship at his finest catcher from what you started with to the finish there's no comparison of any of the old model t that I've seen done anyone doing that kind of Percision work should be very proud of their craft very beautiful car awesome 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 ten thumbs up for you boys
Thank you for brightening up new year day guys . Happy 2020 😎👍
This was awesome video Matt! It just blows my mind about how much work you put into project. Showing all the skills you and your friends have . The editing and the music was great ,I really enjoyed this, a great job 👨🔧.
Thanks so much for watching Mario!
About that music, what's the song? I know it but can't place it.
Only in America, we love our cars. Great job!
Great skills, great helpers and great tools = a cool ride. Free T is a peach.
Afternoon Matt, I remember this video when you first recorded it, man, y'all have come a long ways in a short amount of time...
BEST VIDEO EVER!!!!!! ( Great editing Mike , love it!!! PERFECT).😎
Wow. Wow. and wow that was so much fun to watch. and hard work. nothing worth having is easy.
Hearing it come alive at the end was amazing!
Nice to see a 20 minute quickie with the "show" then the proof she's not a trailer queen. You're a true Craftsman!
All that work, and what a reward!! hell of a job guys, what a beautiful little rod.
Absolutely outstanding time lapse video that filled in a lot of the effort that Y'all put into building the "Free T" project. She's a priceless Rod Matt 😎
Thanks for watching!!
You guys are amazing. Metalwork Genius! I could get all bent and jeally over all the tools and the sweet shop you do your craft in, but hey...even if I had all the proper tools like you use.....could most average shade tree guys even use them to your know-how and experience? I think not. I’m still jealous over your collection of the proper tools. 😂
Wow , you've built a truly beautiful traditional-style hot rod . Thank you for making these videos for us , too . However I'm more than a little saddened about the sheer amount of bad vibes flying around here . I hope it doesn't get to you too much fellas . Rise above when you can . Good vibes from a poorly old guy in UK . Major respect . Pete
It may be free... but your time and experience is worth thousands$$$ fantastic work 👍
One of my favorites that you've built beautiful Thanks Matt. I want my own hot rod
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. It's mind boggling the amount of man hours that go into a project like this and it is hard to grasp it until you see a video such as this. I'm curious what the final tally is on the "Free-T". Keep up the excellent work, am anxiously waiting the completion of your next project.
VERY PERFECT, VERY HARD WORK, VERY NOSTÁLGIC. GOOD WORK, LIKE TO SEE. GREETINGS FROM PORTUGAL🌞🌞🌞🌞
As much fun watching it this way as in segments.. turned out really nice
That thing is SUPER COOL and if it ever needs a foster home , I am Here.
Happy New Year !
I've watched many of your videos, but this one required me to subscribe. Totally legit build brother. Much respect for your skills, and those of your team's as well.

Everything that you guys did to build this is a dying art...
That’s a big compliment. Thanks!

Happy New Year to the Irontrap crew. You are a lucky guy Matt for all that helped along the way. It also looks much better in person. Congrats.
That thing turned out ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL guys! 👍
Thanks for watching!
Well you guys made it look easy! NOT!! WOW to think what you started with and then turned it into a true good looking HOT ROD!! You need to find that hat Matt with the small bill. You looked like you could have been a guy building that in the 40's. haha Can't wait to see Mike do some drone footage of you cruising down the highway in it. Love that freaking sound of the Flathead with those pipes on it.. Great work guys, can't wait to see what 2020 brings. HAPPY NEW YEAR........
You guys are absolutely amazing craftsmen............... but you already know that don’t ya?!?! It is such a pleasure to watch someone take what you did and do what you did to it. I’m so proud of both of you, and anyone else that may have lent a hand.
What state are you guys in?
Keep up the good work and the awesome videos and stay safe out there brother!!!
Thanks so much! We’re in Pa. outside Philly.
Car turned out amazing !
Thanks so much!
This is a fantastic compilation video! LOVE it!!
This makes me want a shop,so bad omg
EDUCATION through ENTERTAINMENT.
You have demonstrated several aspects of an ULTIMATE build, but for me the pinnacle was the replacement of the wood frame with the square tubing.
We have 25 pre-1950 cars in our collection, 1 of those is a 1938 Packard Hearse. From the "A" pillar back, the body framework is wood with sheet metal attached to the wood with tacks. The lower ½ of the "A" pillars and 4 side doors' wood structure desperately needs replacing. We have learned a lot, addressing the replacement of wood with metal.
Thank you for taking us along on this educational journey.
Just an insignificant thought - I am here to learn from you. I, personally, would like more point by point 1-sided conversation and less time listening to very good music.
Awesome ! regards from Norway , have been following all the videos
Thank you for watching!
Wow! What a gorgeous T !!!
Reason I just subscribed and rang the bell... just a few days ago. The Free T and so much more.
Subscribed. Absolutely brilliant build from amazingly talented guys.
