Interestingly, in the original story, part of Puss in Boots' story involved him going up against a shapeshifing ogre that could transform into different animals and managing to kill the ogre when he tricked him into turning into a mouse and then pouncing on said mouse to eat him. That's why Puss was known for killing ogres and was hired to try and kill Shrek.
As a cat lover, the DVD menu alone had me giggling my ass off. And as someone who grew up watching Desperado from an exceptionally young age, casting Salma Hayek opposite Antonio Banderas was just too good to be true.
25:01 "They can put him together, right? That's what the thing says." "All the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't put Humpty back together again." Didn't quite ace that bit. :P
To be fair, at no point in the Humpty Dumpty rhyme do they actually say hes an egg, so.... 😅 Its basically a story of a dude falling off a wall and dying horribly while everyone tries to save him 😂
Little Boy Blue come blow your horn, The sheep’s in the meadow the cow’s in the corn. But where’s the boy who looks after the sheep? He’s under a haystack fast asleep. Will you wake him? No, not I - for if I do, he’s sure to cry.
"What are Humpty's arms and legs made off?" Now we're asking the big questions. Also, the original Humpty Dumpty may have been a cannon that fell off a city wall and shattered, the origin is unclear.
I’m excited yall are reacting to this one because that means the SEQUEL is next! And that one is one of the best movies of all time! Glad yall acknowledged that in the video 🤣
The next Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is so good. Enjoy it when you get to it! I wasn't a massive fan of this one. Pinocchio won the Oscar for best animated movie, but I really loved The Last Wish and wish it would have won. I think one of the major factors is the stop-motion animated style of Pinocchio put it over the top. It was brilliantly done
Pinocchio deserved to win. It had more effort and creativity put into it. The Last Wish was good, but not quite as amazing as everyone was making it seem.
Since watching this film, I've been unable to say 'Puss in boots' other than the way Antonio Banderas does. It comes up more often than you might think...
If you're interested - Humpty Dumpty was the nickname of a huge cannon (for its bulbous shape) that when fired took down the supports, so it "fell from the wall". During the conflict, they tried to get it back on the wall, but couldn't.
Many of the Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes were thinly veiled political statements of the time. For example: Ring Around the Rosey was about the Black Plague, and the markings on the skin. Humpty Dumpty is thought to be about King Richard III (humpbacked King) who "fell" at the Battle of Bosworth Field in 1485. Dreamworks doesn't necessarily follow the Mother Goose rhyme, but becomes a character for their own story. Simone's cat must have known the story was about a cat!
Correction: there is no evidence that Ring Around the Rosie was ever about the Black Plague. That interpretation only emerged sometime after World War II and has never been proven outside of vague interpretation of the lyrics.
Humpty Dumpty was a code word, amongst dissidents, to refer to a King(I forget which one). They wanted him dead, and the rhyme let them express that sentiment without being arrested. Sort of an old fashioned "Brandon", but more clever😊
Little boy blue/come blow your horn/the cows in the meadow/the sheep's in the corn. Where is the boy who looks after the sheep?/ He's in the haystack fast asleep
Mother Goose Tales is just a collection of stories, from all over the world. Just like the Brothers Grimm, who collected tales and retold them, but didn't invent them.
There are those who believe that Humpty Dumpty was a parable for King Richard III of England.... He had a humpback and he was defeated at the battle of Bosworth Field. (You have to say the field's name with a royal English accent, though...). Hence the reason for the King's men not being able to save him or his reign. The original lyrics included the lines: "Four-score men and four-score more, could not make Humpty Dumpty where he was before." That's just one belief, though. Great reactions!
There’s no sense to such things George, why is Goofy an anthropomorphic dog but Pluto is just a dog, why is Foghorn Leghorn a talking rooster when all other chickens are just chickens etc.
This might mess your head up, but there's no lore saying Humpty Dumpty is an egg! It's most likely the rhyme was made in reference to a cannon. Gun crews would name their guns things like Jumping Jack, Bouncing Betty, Jack Flash. And maybe Humpty Dumpty in reference to the sound of a black powder cannon. It falls off of the wall during a siege, the horseguard attempt to recover the gun, but it's scrapped.
Puss as a character is pretty loosely based on his actual fairytale, yea. But his actual character is more inspired by Zorro from the movie Mask of Zorro. Zorro is played by Puss' voice actor, and he became pretty popular! So when he was given the role for Puss, they made his character a reference to Zorro (Puss' outfit and usage of a sword is specifically inspired by Zorro's design, as well as his personality!)
There is a Puss in Boots short called The Three Diablos that's between this movie and the last wish. If you like the Puss in Boots series then you like that as well.
I'd just like to comment on your production quality. Sitting here watching, just thinking of how comfortable it is to watch your videos. The separate audio tracks. The audio quality of both mics and the movie, muting either when necessary. The lack of jarring jump cuts. You guys sitting in the same screen position throughout, so never have to chase you round the screen. Compared to the countless other reactors I watch, you guys are S-Tier. Truly an example to be followed. And now I've kissed your ass enough, I'm gonna suggest 2 minor things for your consideration. 'Slow-mo repeat jump scares' so we can catch it again without having to rewind, and round off the corners of your portrait frames for the sake of my OCD. Love you guys. Keep it up. x
This movie is a classic. One of the best villains ever!!! His motivations made sense. I felt bad for the guy. Look at the way you guys are repulsed by him. 😂 Imagine being him as a kid. This is one of my favorite animated movies ever!! Remember Humpty was ALWAYS there…😂😂😂😂😂
George was obviously never flogged by a Toulouse drake when he was a kid. I had an angry drake grab the front of my shirt and beat the hell out of me when I was five. My grandmother made his liver into pate' and served the rest of him for Sunday dinner. Humpty Dumpty seemed pretty creepy. The only thing that would have been coming out of a goose chick would have been fertilizer, not eggs. Good reaction though.
Yes, fables were often cautionary tales intended to threaten children into compliance. However, the shorter nursery rhymes were sometimes disguised political commentary.
Yall would love the animated movie paws of furry, the legend of Hank, is Mel Brooks remaking blazzing saddles as a family animated hour n half movie, he did this a few yeara ago, just to prove he could, all original writes get after it and reuse many of the same jokes, n word is replaced with dog
I don't know if you guys are familiar with the Flight of the Conchords Band/show (it's a play on words about a classic movie you guys should also watch called "Flight of the Concord" but there's a song called hiphopopotamus. .. and they talk about Steve and every time I hear him say Josh I think about that it's worth a listen/watch the video.. did Steve tell you that perchance.
I've seen so many reactions for The Last Wish that I forgot you two haven't seen it. It is a MUST. For me, it's tied with Wreck It Ralph and The Mitchells vs. the Machines for best animated movie of all time.
"Little boy blue, Come blow your horn, The sheep's in the meadow, The cow's in the corn. But where is the boy Who looks after the sheep? He's under a haystack, Fast asleep."
Love the Antonio Banderas / Salma Hayek reunion. Never noticed how hot her voice is since I'm constantly awestruck by how hot She is. 😍 Y'all should definitely check out Desperado, it's an Action Masterpiece (and fairly hilarious in places as well).
Puss in boots the last wish actually had me invested while I was watching it with my kids. It’s probably the best puss and boots. I’m looking forward to the new Shrek movie
I wonder why Puss in treated like he was in this movie? Does San Ricardo not have TV's? Also, couldn't they have at least implied as to the time when this movie took place in?
George and Simone, if you ever want to see something incredibly weird you can watch "Puss In Boots" (1988) with Christopher Walken singing and dancing as Puss in live action...
The part of the 'Puss In Boot' fairy tale that Shrek 2 used was that he killed a pair of ogres (by tricking them into killing each other) and was, therefore, a 'Great Ogre Killer'.
Wait. Did you two already watch Shrek 3 and 4? I don't remember. If not, then you have to watch them BEFORE the second Puss in Boots movie. Because the next PiB movie takes place AFTER Shrek Forever After.
The Humpty design reminds me a lot of the original Sonic the Hedgehog design that thankfully never made it past the trailer. Too many human features on something that shouldn't look remotely human makes for a nightmarish uncanny valley.
Since it's a bit on theme, have you ever considered watching "Jack the Giant Slayer"? It's a movie I've barely seen anyone talk about online, I think it would interesting to see movie reactors covering it.

That's why Puss was known for killing ogres and was hired to try and kill Shrek.
Well well, so it wasn't a silly excuse to introduce Puss into the series? Very nice bit of trivia.
As a cat lover, the DVD menu alone had me giggling my ass off.

Humpty was a cannon...
@@FanaticalRanger Humpty was a siege tower
@@FanaticalRanger WELL. I. FORGOT THAT AND ALREADY WROte the comment okay? And I was a little stoned at the time. Stop bullying me.
? ok then?@@TheGoIsWin21
The egg thing was based off an old drawing associated with the tale a little later
George has never met a farm guardian goose. they can be mean nasty birds
Antonio Banderas's voice is perfect for Puss in boots.
Chupacabra is a mythical creature from Puerto Rico that supposedly drains the blood of goats. Hence its name Goat Sucker.
You should do Rango. Btw, I love Georges shirt.
Little Boy Blue come blow your horn,
The sheep’s in the meadow the cow’s in the corn.
But where’s the boy who looks after the sheep?
He’s under a haystack fast asleep.
Will you wake him? No, not I - for if I do, he’s sure to cry.
The dance fight song called Diablo Rojo is so amazing.
"What are Humpty's arms and legs made off?" Now we're asking the big questions. Also, the original Humpty Dumpty may have been a cannon that fell off a city wall and shattered, the origin is unclear.

The mother goose is so pretty imo. The pure white shiny feathers...
Can't wait for them to watch the sequel.
One of the greatest movies of all time.
15:44 I love how bummed Puss is in the rain.
The egg is deep in the uncanny valley. The face is human but not human. It's nauseating
George really can ruin any situation with overthinking.
The next Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is so good. Enjoy it when you get to it! I wasn't a massive fan of this one. The Puss in Boots fairytale is actually originally from Italy not France. The Puss in Boots in these animated movies is Spanish.

The whole golden egg thing with humpty’s death so soposed to simple ky be a metaphor that in the end despite what he did Humpty had a heart of gold

I only clicked because I thought it was Last Wish, lol.
Yeah I completely forgot this one existed
A lot of the characters in this world (and movie) are based on nursery rhymes. Most of them aren't that long or deep (2 verses or so).

I just believe that all sentient animals/objects in Shrek is due to wild magic.
This is a great movie but the sequel is truly a piece of art!
This isn't a TV studio, Josh...Pearl jam "Even Flow" live reference..... 😂
I think all animals are sentient in this universe but only some can speak

The oOoOO cat is why I watched the movie.
Squared up with a goose when I was 9 lil shits are vicious
React to Small Soldiers. It's a fun 90's gem.
Simone - at the beginning that was Eddie Vedder before a live concert performance of Even Flow wasn't it?
Wow a PJ reference.. TURN OUT THE LIGHTS!

I appreciate that Pearl Jam joke at the start 🤣🤣🤣
Puss In Boots, in the original, did in fact kill an ogre
"is it a dinosaur!?" technically yes.
I get that the Humpty character in this could be seen as unsettling, I never saw him that way though. I don't know. How, else do you do an egg?
"Little boy blue,

5:24 Wow, that the first time I heard a Canadian actually say "eh" after a sentence😁
We tend to do that. 😅
Darth Vader: "Give it up, Luke, I'm yer father, eh."
Luke Skywalker: "Take off, ya hoser!"
That is not how Humpty's fairy tale ends Simon 😂 😂
While Shrek 3 is pretty meh, Shrek 4 is a great emotional wrap up so I'd highly recommend getting to it as some point!
Shrek 4 is a masterpiece.
Puss in boots the last wish actually had me invested while I was watching it with my kids. It’s probably the best puss and boots. I’m looking forward to the new

i dont actually see the video yet but the cover is a masterpiece jajaja xD

love this one more then his second movie which i don't care for that one

Wheeler Walker Jr did a song that's definitely about this story that everyone should go watch the video for 😎
“ITS NOT A TV STUDIO, JOSH!! TURNS THESE LIGHTS OUTS!!!! ITS A FUCKING ROCK CONCERT!!” ‘By Eddie vedder 😊
Humpty wasnt a golden egg. He faked his death. Hes dancing at the end with the golden goose in the golden egg costume
The part of the 'Puss In Boot' fairy tale that Shrek 2 used was that he killed a pair of ogres (by tricking them into killing each other) and was, therefore, a 'Great Ogre Killer'.
It's the best sci-fi cold war fiction film ever about bringing up the ship from the ocean floor.
Wait. Did you two already watch Shrek 3 and 4? I don't remember.
If not, then you have to watch them BEFORE the second Puss in Boots movie. Because the next PiB movie takes place AFTER Shrek Forever After.
No they did not. Kinda strange.
For fairy tales you guys should react to The Brothers Grimm.
"It's a kids movie...They're not gonna kill the horse..." *quietly weeps as a member of GenX"
Mother goose was a real person
Nice Pearl Jam reference Simone
You’ll love the second one. It’s so great.
