They were composed mostly of Catholics from Louth and Drogheda. Fought in various campaigns including the Boer War. They were formed long after the Battle of the Boyne. I believe Loyalists have a very limited understanding of British culture and history. Irish Republicans a very limited understanding of Irish culture and history.
