- The Troubles were an ethno-nationalist conflict in Northern Ireland that lasted about 30 years from the late 1960s to 1998. Also known internationally as the Northern Ireland conflict, it is sometimes described as an "irregular war" or "low-level war". The conflict began in the late 1960s and is usually deemed to have ended with the Good Friday Agreement of 1998. Although the Troubles mostly took place in Northern Ireland, at times violence spilled over into parts of the Republic of Ireland, England, and mainland Europe.

So there is no Irish/Welsh/Scottish civilization, and if you take Britain down to its true place its just the English hegemony. Which included France/Italy/Spain/Portugal, so those nations though powerful aren't civilizations either. But make up the Catholic civilization. So its to be expected that the English Empire would form into a civilization, which again is fascinating to me because its a naval based civilization and it is the most powerful and advanced civilization we know of. As much as the politicians try to push the Anglo-Sphere and CANZUK, all of each make no sense and can't work. In the end the former colonial states will break apart and the English people within those state will seek for form their civilization. Just as all the other great civilizations before did.

It's strange, but many loyalist songs seem to stem from republican or at least Irish songs. The melody of this one is taken from "The Wearing of the Green", hardly with orange lyrics: "they are hanging men and women for the wearing of the green".

@Jerrymyphone: Don't assume that every Catholic is a Republican. A survey carried out in 2011 suggests that 52% of the Catholics favour staying with Britain, with only 33% wantig a united Ireland. Although that may seem slightly dated it gives you an idea.
Given the current influx of foreigners into the Republic, I suspect, that reunification is not imminent. In a couple of decades from now there will be hardly an Irish population left.
