Do you not realize that the British were between the Americans (already an independent nation, not rebels) and the Gulf of Mexico? Like seriously, if the American army was running towards the gulf then they were running straight into the face of the British. I don’t think you made the point you thought you were making. By the way, the war of 1812, of which this battle was part, was not a bunch of British rebels against the king, but a free and sovereign nation fighting the unwarranted invasion from the British.
