Ali crossed the line with this. It pushed Frazier into a rage, which physically damaged Ali and psychically damaged Frazier. They were born to fight each other, but this did cross the line.

I've always said this. After the second fight frazier didn't like Ali but didn't hate him either. But leading up to the third fight is when he actually started hating Ali.

@@jahleelx9270 I remember seeing this video of Ali pulling out the gorilla and hitting it. I knew he was talking about Frazier. This was years and years ago. At the time I though it was funny, but later thought it was disturbing. The great Black nationalist Ali, calling another Black man a gorilla in front of a predominantly white press. Ali did a good as portraying Frazier as this menacing bad guy, but if you saw Frazier back then he was always very nice when being interviewed. I can see why it fired up Frazier into a rage - especially by the 3rd fight.

@@mikem591 yes. I say this because if u watch ali frazier 2 after the fight ended he seemed at peace and thought it was even when Cosell interviewedhim. He still didn't like him, but he didn't indefinitely hate him either. The gorilla taunting in public is what fueled his dislike into hatred.

When its Ali who serves these kinds of tongue-lashing and makes Gorilla jokes, they call it 'A clever psychological tactic', 'All For Fun', 'He didn't mean it.' blah blah blah. When its Joe Frazier or any other common american who makes the same ephitet, they call it 'Racism'. If y'all are crying "Justice for George Floyd!" and are the same people laughing with the reporters on the video and are enjoying this random act of rudeness by an african american to a fellow african american, y'all are HIPPOCRITES and are making a fool out of your own selves 🙄

By the time he got to Lewis he was absolutely shot. They even mentioned it in the Botha fight right before he knocked him out. And a good eye would have told you he was never quite the same since leaving Rooney.
Question: Was Tyson as good a fighter after he left Rooney?
What we don't know with Tyson was how good he actually was or could have been if he continued to progress, especially given how young he was and his improvement as a fighter from 18-20, 20-22.

But hey, being called a Gorilla can also be seen as a compliment (if used right).
I saw a program about how Gorilla's are very loyal; loyal to their family and protective. They are quiet and go about their business but if you fuck with them, they will pound their chest as a warning. Come closer and move pass that warning, and they will attack.
So yes, I guess Frazier did fit the remark of a Gorilla although not in the way Ali used it. I don't find Gorilla's ugly either nor bad.

Jimmy Young gave Ali a boxing lesson to end all boxing lessons.
Then Don King's bought and paid for 'judges' gave Ali his travesty of a 'decision.'

    • @Whyavier

+Shaw Brothers A pity we have another poorly educated boxing fan here. If you weren't so ignorant and deluded, you'd know Ali begged to quit in his corner while Frazier demanded to get sent back in, despite being blind. Furthermore, Frazier's blindness was only half due to swelling from punches. He was blind in the other eye his entire career due to a training accident and still turned Ali into a quivering wreck and made him beg for mercy, lol.
I suppose it gives you some comfort to live in the fantasy you've created for yourself since Ali's career post Manila was a series of beatings Joe set him up for. Must hurt that your flawed hero got dumped by his young gold digging hoe immediately after he retired and became incapable of performing.

+Shaw Brothers So infatuated with Clay but unable to take his own word on the matter. XD He personally confirmed his desire to quit in Manila in his biography. Must really infuriate you that Larry Holmes made Ali quit and never lost a second of the fight.
I see it's not really Ali you're defensive about... more militant black politics and perhaps Islamic extremism. You're unable to even acknowledge Ali's deterioration and disgrace during the 80s. To you, the man died when he stopped licking Elijah Muhammad's balls, huh? Means nothing to you that after he'd been humbled by his disease, he repented his racism and regretted kicking Malcolm X to the curb to get assassinated? I expect you don't actually know that, being your knowledge on Ali is obviously very limited.

Unable to do anything except out-box the champ. Yeah it was a yawnathon but Young got the job done in his way.
Young's wins over Foreman and Lyle out-strip any individual wins Holmes had. To my mind he also deserved decisions against Ali, Shavers and Norton. That's a better resume than many heavyweights. He lost a lot of heart when he didn't get the Norton verdict and was out-of-shape and unmotivated for most of his subsequent fights.

The same trainer that helped hone his skills and continued to get him better all the way up to Spinks. Same Trainer who had him undefeated and kept him active which is very important for a fighter.

Young was at least landing clean shots and out-working Ali in most of the rounds.
Young's display was no more pathetic than Ali turning up overweight and barely landing a decent punch all night, a recurring theme in his later title defenses.
Nor was Young putting his noggin through the ropes any worse than Ali's tactics, like trying to hit Young with his forearm or going minutes without throwing a single punch. In headier times he'd have been thrown out of the ring for not fighting.

LOL,no Ali. I love you man, but if you fought George Foreman again, you would've been DESTROYED. Which is why you ducked him afterwards.

Trafalgar Lawn oh please bitch ali was the man who could adapt to any way of fighting if george wouldve surpassed ali's tactics (which they had in first fight)...what do you think ali-the greatest wouldve stayed calm and do nothing? man come out of your fantasy

    • @trafalgarlawn7124
      @trafalgarlawn7124 9 років тому +1

Abdul Mouiz if that's all true, why did ali never give him a rematch? Instead, he kept ducking him for tomato cans. Look, I think the Ali that beast Sonny Liston twice could beat Foreman, but he was past his prime when he fought Foreman and got really lucky. The rope a dope would never work again.

Trafalgar Lawn You're obviously blind. Watch the fight again. Ali was toying with foreman. Ali even winked to a person in the crowd.

Kammy Why did Foreman destroy Frasier twice? Why did Ali give two rematches to Foreman and a bunch of has-beens, but ignore Foreman for the remainder of his career? C'mon man, use your head. Do you know how much money Ali would've gotten out of a Foreman rematch?

Bruno exposed Tyson that he wasn't as good without Rooney and proper training. Roger Mayweather actually discussed this with Tyson's fall.
Holmes wasn't 42; I think he was 38. Holmes wasn't in his prime but Tyson did knock him out cold. And Holmes went on to fight some quality opponents and never was knocked out again. Beat Mercer, lost to McCall by decision and lost to Holyfield by decision.

Yeah, Foreman smashed Norton too, but Norton gave Ali nightmares. Most people today say it was 2-1 for him and he was robbed in last fight from clear win. It was more of a trash talk, show and way to promote the fight than serious statements by Ali, although he was angry at Joe too for still calling him Cassius Clay.

@King2011ish That's bullshit and you know it. Ali thought that ANY athlete who didn't actively talk about Civil rights was an Uncle Tom and he would tell them so. What pissed Ali off was that Frazier made the comment that he was glad they both worshipped the same God,when they were both analyzing their first fight with Howard Cosell.Frazier was trying to pay Ali a compliment and Ali didn't take it so.

There was everything wrong with Cassius Clay as far as he was concerned and since it was his name and he didn't like it, especially since it was the name of a slave owner who owned his ancestors, a proud man like him had every right to despise it.
Secondly he became a muslim and chose a muslim name for himself. Not many muslim casius clays since in Islam the name of a person has history attached to it.
Lastly Ali wasn't being racist. He was one of the strongest advocates of black rights.

There's no excuse. Ali is better than Frazier. 3 fights in which ali won 2 times. 2nd time easily and 3rd time making Frazier quite the fight in the 14 round. Even when he lost the 1st fight he gave Frazier a good whooping. Frazier was in the hospital for more to than a month.
