The extended prechorus at 2:02 is one of the greatest moments in indie rock for me; an almost-rap/Blondie quality to it that just blows me away every time.

As much as the song is a flat-out banger, I can't express how much the chorus has come to speak to me. "The fallen are the virtuous among us, walk among us, never judge us..." It's true. For all my own worst decisions, for all the things that shame me and judge, I've never felt more accepted than by those who are just as broken.

I know it's been 11 damn years, but I'm still going to respond. Alex has a degree in theology and this song shows it well. To the best of my understanding, the idea is that if Jesus existed in our period of time, he would be hanging out with "the fallen" - people, who are usually looked down upon (homeless, poor, etc), instead of choosing the company of what is your average conservative Christian is

Alex's lyrics are right there with Julian Casablancas' and Alex Turner's, FF deserve more recognition. But then i remember that they sell huge venues cause they have fans everywhere. And their videos were always on tv and in ads when I was little, so i guess they are fine ;)
