    You're actually supposed to use a rubber mallet (or a hammer wrapped in a rag) to tap the rivets down into the slots.

      thanks for mentioning this! a couple viewers already mentioned this in the comments and I only put it together for the video. I took it apart right after since i didn't have the aquariums yet at that time.

      Yup I ended up using a mallet my second time around putting this rack together. I initially thought it was slip on, but then a viewer commented and mentioned the hammering process and it was definitely more secure 👍

  • @MrYou7050
    @MrYou7050 Рік тому

    Ummm, it is indeed a perfect fit, but there is a tiny distance between the board to the aquarium. I assume the weight of the water will make it flush??? Or it’ll be a disaster if it’s not even sitting on the edges. Suggestion??

      If you believe the rack is not safe I would suggest looking for a new solution for a aquarium rack. You can build one out of wood for a safer result

      I have a specific corner which this stand is perfect. I ended up buying a thicker board, with some mallet smashing, it worked. Turns out to be expensive though, $200+. Nontheless it’s perfect!

    Are the shelves partical board? And did you add the braces for added support?

    • @BryanLa
      @BryanLa  3 роки тому

      I didnt add anything or modify these shelves in any way. The shelves seem to be thin wood, but these tanks are supported by the corners and what holds these tanks up in place is the metal frame of the rack. The wood is just there for extra support? It's too thin to support the tank alone but I just left it on

    Finally found someone with video of the same thing I'm researching. How are they holding up? Is water an issue with particle board?
    I'm about to officially jump off into crazed fish nerd territory with moving from my 1 10gal on a "real" shelf into a rack system to have room for growth. I assume I'll have 3-5 tanks before long.

    • @BryanLa
      @BryanLa  2 роки тому +5

      yo!! thanks for reaching out, I appreciate it. the rack is holding up good and surprisingly enough, the water isn't really an issue for my setup. I've spilled water on them, overflowed the tank on them, and just regular daily exposure to aquarium stuff. nothing noticeable yet. But... I will note that if you use something other than a 40b (the perfect tank to fit in these racks), I would switch out the boards with something more sturdy. The tank actually sits on the metal portion of the rack, and the particle board is just there. if you put any tank on just the board it self and it's not touching the metal rim, it will crash through. out of the box, I would only put a 40 gallon breeder on this rack. anything else (smaller or bigger) the rack will need to be modified.

      @@BryanLa Awesome, thanks for the report and advice! Glad to hear the overall system is working out, I'm probably getting some kind of rack/shelving this weekend.
      I'm likely going to look for one of the metal shelf ones, then throw some (possibly water treated) plywood (Not particle) on top since I AM indeed looking for a variety of size tanks.
