I truly appreciate this video. I’m in the process of opening my store and this set up is one of the most simplest and effective ways to keep maintenance stress free
We use polarized sunglasses or polarized filters to check to make sure the glass is not tempered before drilling. To prevent blowout on the back you can clamp a piece of wood to the back with spring clamps. Another trick is to take a shallow plastic container with the bottom cut out and lay a bead of modeling clay on the bottom as a water dam to drill submerged.
Yahoo! Chickens! ❤️ Thank you for posting this video. Was very interested in where you got your racks. Also, great tips on drilling the holes in the tanks! All this information is going to be very useful. Thank you!
Your content and fish room is awesome from what I have seen! This is almost exactly what I need for starting the first real rack in my fish room! Just ordered the Edsal on Walmart, conveniently it was on Rollback for $140! Thank you!
I have three similar racks. Each holds a 40 breeder and two 10's under each one. The rack for the 40's at the pet store were very questionable. Great video.
Fish Boy this was a great vid. Didn't know you, and your vid popped up after watching someone else's vid - I clicked for the video name and thumbnail. Glad I clicked. Useful, direct and replies to comment questions - things I appreciate. Going to look back at your past vids next.
Hey Fish Boy, about drilling 10 gallons and not coming out perfect, you should try putting a piece of wood on the backside with pressure to help you make a perfect cut/hole without chipping, just as you would do when drilling wood. Great videos and great information. Keep up the great videos. Saludos y bendiciones from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
So glad I came across your channel! Your room it awesome! Can you tell me how far down you cut your overflow hole so that it pairs up with the PVC elbow you have in your other videos. I want to make a template as you suggested. Thanks for any input you can give. Cheers!
I love your collection it's crazy how amazing your setup is compared to other youtubers you deserve 2.3 million subscribers hope that happens because you'll deserve it
Hey, Fishboy and viewers. I know it's been a couple of years since this video was posted, but I'm considering this same rack for my own set up and I was hoping you or a commenter could help me out. These shelves are supposed to be 18 inches deep. That should be wide enough for a 40 breeder (36" x 18" x 16"), but I've found detailed measurements for Marineland tanks that say they're actually 36 (5/16)" x 18 (9/32)" x 16 (3/4)". Would that extra 9/32th of an inch make it too big too store safely on these shelves? I'm very nervous about overhang, but I can't understand how these shelves got so popular if they can't even hold tanks with the same nominal dimensions they have.
That rack should fit 2 40 breeders on each shelf. It takes a little work to angle it in, but it will fit . To fit them in, put the right tank all the way to the right and push it all the way back, and then angle the left tank in (at an angle). As you scoot in the left tank at an angle, straighten it out and it should fit in perfectly. Then pull the right tank back and align them together so it wont look so weird and wolah, you have yourself 2 40 breeders per shelf on an Edsal 77"W x 72"H x 24"D 4 stand...Ive done it a few times and those were my techniques....hopefully it helps.
Question : I would love to know what lighting you are using to light the tanks. It looks like your getting great plant growth with what your using. Excellent video
If it works for you then so be it. You’ll always get differences of opinions. But at the ending of the day it’s what most matters to you. Keep them coming my friend. 😉
Great video. I set up a rack similar to yours but I have a gap between the wood and the metal wire shelf. Do you have a gap? If so do you put anything in between?
That little bit of blowout, you’re getting on the backside. If you wish to clamp a piece of wood front and back you would eliminate that so your guide piece as you were doing with another solid piece on the back clamped in position.
Love your videos. I was curious how you are able to keep the water level so high in the tanks even though they’re drilled. Most of them I don’t see the water line below the rim. Was it hard to figure out the plumbing on the water change system? Do you have to use pvc glue to keep the joints from leaking?
Great video. I am currently in the middle of figuring out a rack solution for a 65 gallon a a couple 20 gallons. It looks like you have two 75 gallons on the two foot deep shelves - do you have additional support under this other than the sheet of plywood on the shelf surface?
@@fishboy1415 sweet. I have loosing sleep over this thinking the weight would break through on the side that was not supported by the edge of the metal frame.
Wait, those are 20g huh? So 1 rack is long enough to fit around 5 "20g tank" and 7 "10g tank" per layer. Are you using a brand name light that is long enough to light one whole roll of tank or are you using custom built LED DIY?
I don't mess with the racks when they are holding that much weight. I'm also fortunate enough to not be lacking space I don't need to save on a few inches
Love the videos. I hope to have a fish room in the future. I’m looking to start doing videos as a fish channel how would you go about doing that. Also since you are planning to start a fish store I hope to be there if it isn’t to far from me :)
You don't have to take off all the tanks just the tanks on the bottom row and then you can take the wood Off And then you don't have to take off all the tanks and you can still get the rack And then you can just put the bottom tanks again on
Lmao are we kin folk 😂😂 of all the braces to leave off it had to be the bottom. That sounds like something I'd do or have done before. It couldn't have been one that was easy to get to. Great looking fish room
the amount of effort to keep SO many tanks in such great condition goes to show how much of an exemplary aquarium hobbyist
The layout of your fish room sets the bar. So cool
How is this guy not more popular!
The quality of these fish and tanks is incredible!
I truly appreciate this video. I’m in the process of opening my store and this set up is one of the most simplest and effective ways to keep maintenance stress free
I never get enough of this setup. Now to see what residence go in them. Can't wait.
Thank you sir for giving many of us something to strive for. The most unique and cleanest fish room on UA-cam.

If you use painters tape before drilling it will help the slipping and helps with the chipping

If you put some blue painters tape on the back side of your drill cuts you can prevent some of the chip out.

Great idea with the wood to get the placement right, thanks.

Great video and enjoyed your fish room.
Really like your rack setup.
wow those racks hold a lot of weight. really like your guppies, just started with them, been doing discus for 40 plus years. great fish room

Another nice video. Will look forward to the video on your lids. Have you already shared what your plans are for the new rack?

I'm actually filming that video right now 😂
@@fishboy1415 brilliant! Looking forward to it
awesome fish room setup! I need to get working on mine lol
Hi, how many gallons do they have in each layer? Planning to get one and put two 75gallons. Do you think shelving can hold the weight of both tanks?
Great video. I set up a rack similar to yours but I have a gap between the wood and the metal wire shelf. Do you have a gap? If so do you put anything in between?
What's your light schedule and are those regular led strip?
What lids do you use for your aquariums?
Where do you get those lids on the 10 gallons?
hi please tell us about lighting, substrate and ferts..thanks ,Good stuff
Eco complete, thrive fertilizer, light: www.ebay.com/itm/282218192814
Ok so can you tell me briefly how you got into the fish hobby and how you grew it .
Sir what is the thickness of your 10G that you drilled?
Always a great video 😊 I’m hoping to have a fish room like that someday lol 😃 I’m uploading my first video today
That little bit of blowout, you’re getting on the backside. If you wish to clamp a piece of wood front and back you would eliminate that so your guide piece as you were doing with another solid piece on the back clamped in position.
What kind of wood and size do you use for the shelfs?
Would the rack system from Walmart support 2 125 72 in Long 18 in wide approximately 1,300 pounds apiece
What lights do you use? I want ones that show the fish and grow plants without needing a lid
There's a video on them in the build playlist
I love your fishroom

Just the plywood added. I wish I got plywood that was a little bit thicker but it's holding up just fine

Hi! fish boy , could you make a video how to set up your water filter systems at the back of your fish tanks?

Eco complete
How soon do boesemani rainbows start breeding? Will they start laying eggs as soon as they start sexing out?
Seeing as you are fairly new to the UA-cam scene. You should do a Q&A video with all the questions you get asked. I know i have a bunch for ya hahah.
great video, i think you forgot to put the descriptions for the links
Whoops! Added, thanks :)
In case anyone is looking to buy one, that's a diamond holesaw not a drill bit.

What's your reasons for not joining your racks/making them one contiguous rack?
I don't mess with the racks when they are holding that much weight. I'm also fortunate enough to not be lacking space I don't need to save on a few inches

is it better to do sides or back??? did you order any of Dan's rare Rainbows????
Not sure about the question, but not ordering any rainbowfish unfortunately
This is the best system
what lighting are u running
How do you heat these tanks? What’s the bill like?
When you reach a certain number of tanks, it makes more sense to heat the room rather than have many heaters.
👍
You can always tape the part of glass that you're about to drill...
You don't have to take off all the tanks just the tanks on the bottom row and then you can take the wood Off And then you don't have to take off all the tanks and you can still get the rack And then you can just put the bottom tanks again on
Yes, luckily that's all I have to do instead of taking them all off
