    PLEASE READ. PROBLEM SOLVING:
    PROBLEM #1: If your Drone is not recognized by BETAFLIGHT CONFIGURATOR when you plug it into your computer using a USB Cable it is because your USB Cable is a CHARGING USB cable and not a DATA USB cable, or you plugged the USB Cable into the WRONG port on your FPV DRONE (there are two ports to choose from). Or, your drone requires POWER, so plug in a battery on your drone. Or finally, your computer belongs in a museum and it is missing the correct USB Drivers (you can download them by clicking on the link on the BETAFLIGHT CONFIGURATOR screen).
    PROBLEM #2: If you watch the video FULLY and follow the instructions CORRECTLY, then everything will work perfectly. However many have not watched the video to the end, and missed the part where I mentioned that in order for everything to work, you must buy an FPV Drone that has the DJI 03 Air system in it and select the PNP option for the Receiver. If you selected the ELRS or TBS Nano (crossfire) receiver options then you MUST also own an ELRS RADIO Transmitter or a TBS CROSSFIRE RADIO Transmitter, because your DJI Remote 2 RADIO is not compatible with the ELRS or TBS Crossfire receivers. So this then means that when you are in BETAFLIGHT CONFIGURATOR and click on the RECEIVER TAB, nothing will happen when you move your JOYSTICKS. If you made this mistake and did indeed order your new FPV Drone with an ELRS or CROSSFIRE receiver, you have a 50% chance that you may be able to turn ON and OFF certain UARTS within BETAFLIGHT CONFIGURATOR so that your new drone IGNORES the ELRS or CROSSFIRE receiver and instead listens to the DJI Receiver. If you can do this, then your new FPV Drone will recognize the joystick inputs from your DJI Remote 2. To know which UARTS to turn on/off you will have to contact the company that sold you the FPV Drone. If you can't be bothered to do this, then buy yourself an ELRS or CROSSFIRE Radio and you'll be better off in the long run, especially if you plan to stay in the FPV Hobby. Just be sure to buy the compatible radio (i.e., ELRS radios ONLY work with ELRS receivers and TBS CROSSFIRE Radios only work with CROSSFIRE receivers). If you don't know where to look, then start by having a look at RADIOMASTER: radiomasterrc.myshopify.com?sca_ref=1533892.NyogGjqq0k
    PROBLEM #3: Some viewers will have purchased the CORRECT DRONE, with the CORRECT RECEIVER and have no issue connecting to BETAFLIGHT CONFIGURATOR and see that their DJI REMOTE 2 JOYSTICK inputs are recognized, and then perform all the configurations correctly, and hit the SAVE button each time a change is made. But when they they disconnect from BETAFLIGHT CONFIGURATOR and then try to ARM the motors (get them spinning) the FPV Drone does not ARM. 99.9% of the time this is because your drone has a GPS unit (usually placed on the very rear and often referred to as GPS RESCUE), and the GPS won't let the motors arm until it receives the minimum number of satellites. You can turn this off in BETAFLIGHT CONFIGURATION if you go into the EXPERT section (look at top of screen and turn on EXPERT, then go to the GPS FAIL SAFE tab and enable or disable the option, then hit SAVE). So if you leave it ON, then it means you must be outdoors with a clear view of the sky and the drone must get the satillites. Once the FPV Drone has enough sats and knows where home point is, it will then let you arm the motors.
    PROBLEM #4: Ok, so you have no GPS on your drone and you think you did everything correct but it still won't arm. This can be due to you NOT having the left throttle joystick all the way to the bottom when you try to arm. Or you have a FLIP OVER AND CRASH option on the drone and it is engaged (must be off). Or you simply DID NOT ASSIGN the switch correctly to the ARM function. Check the MODES tab again in BETAFLIGHT CONFIGURATOR and also check the RECEIVER TAB. When in the RECEIVER TAB press or flick your ARM SWITCH... do you see any bars moving? If not, then that is your problem.
    PROBLEM #5: Your DRONE is toast because for some unknow reason your brain told you to click on the button in BETAFLIGHT CONFIGURATOR that said UPDATE FIRMWARE. Yup, your drone is toast. The only way to fix this is to contact the company that sold you the drone and get a DUMP FILE. Then you have to go to the CLI TAB in BETAFLIGHT CONFIGURATOR and install it (watch UA-cam videos and you'll see how it is done). Don't forget to SAVE at the end.

      I turned off GPS fail safe mode and i'm still not able to arm my motors. I am running a SpeedyBee V3 F7 stack, DJI 03 air unit, Dji remote controller 2, DJI goggles 2. I see input from controller in betaflight and have image when connected. However once i disconnect from Betaflight im still having trouble.

    This is by far one of the best videos explaining how to get your DJI remote controller 2 to your FPV Drone. Most of the other channels focus on the down side of using this controller and how it disconnects along with the video transmitter, completely disregarding that most people own DJI at first as it is the most user friendly and well known drone company for beginners.
    Excellent video and I will definitely recommend to whoever else is getting started and only have the DJI remote controller 2.
    Thank you for making this video!

    Once again Steve, so so good! An excellent tut that got me up and running using an Acrobee 75, Goggles Integra and a RM TX16S MkII. Everything you did worked perfectly, apart from one tiny little step which may be helpful to other newbies like me... the bind process on the Goggles Integra is the same except you have to long press the Power Button on goggles integra and wait for the intermittent beeps, then it will connect seamlessly. You are such a great teacher and explain things really easily. Thank you from a Skippy Down Under!

Switching over from the avata, can’t deal with it’s tumble issue anymore…would really love to see a similar video covering more binds in beta flight, like gps and setting up angle mode. Thank you. I’m pretty sure ANGLE, HORIZON and MANUAL (called ACRO/AIR) was shown in the vid. Also when you get into the real FPV hobby you’ll soon ditch the DJI REMOTE 2 for an RC HOBBY radio (massive difference… like going from a toy to a grown up device). Whichever radio you buy, if it is popular, then there is probably a step by step drone setup video on my channel for the radio.

    • @DroneyDrafts
      @DroneyDrafts 8 місяців тому

      Thanks for the quick response! I see the portion where you mention angle/horizon now. What differences will I notice with a fancier radio like a radiomaster, vs the dji remote 2? Longer range?

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  8 місяців тому +2

      @@DroneyDraftsDJI is a budget remote (radio) with no features designed for beginners, as all DJI products are (that is why DJI is the best camera drone maker because anyone with zero skills can use their products). A radio, such as a radiomaster is programable for anything in the RC hobby (plenty of assignable switches, professional joysticks, voice, compatible with tons of receivers). Think of it this way… you’re used to the budget battery chargers DJI includes with its drones. You are happy with them and never consider doing things like discharging batteries, storing batteries, charging batteries at different speeds using different amps, balancing cells, using any battery type or size you choose. But when you buy a good RC hobby charger you can do all this and then realize the DJI charger was simply a $10 toy charger designed for beginners. The same is true with radios. The sky is the limit for which type of radio you can get and what you can do with it.

      Great insight, thanks for sharing! Looking forward to learning Lipos and balancing for the Cinelog. I’m sure that will lead me to getting a better radio.

      Hello. I have DJI FPV and Geprc Mark 5 with O3 system. The idea was use both drones with same goggles and controller ( you switch in Settings > About > Switch Aircraft Model ). I just did it for the first time. I mean I was flying for weeks with my new Geprc, but I wanted to film a cinematic shot on N mode so today I went with DJI FPV. I turned on everything, went to option to switch it up, restarted the goggles and the drone just won’t work. I have “image transmission lost” and the screen is just black with no indicators, nothing. Why? How do I switch back to DJI FPV now if I want to use it?

    Amazing video very informative, I just got my DJI O3 Unit for my new BetaFPV Pavo 20, and there is not much information online to do this procedure, I also have an DJI Avata I love it.. but want to experiment a bit with a DIY drone that fall a bit into my conford zone, so doesn't feel so different of what I'm use to, Thank you very much, you're The Man 👍👍😊😊☕

    I really think its worth setting up angle mode at a minimum, Its an excellent quality of life feature even once you're good at flying acro.
    Its really useful for ultra gentle landings on surfaces like concrete. Or taking off in a controlled manner before flipping to acro at altitude. Just remember the wind will pull you more in angle mode at very low speeds.
    Someimes my kid falls asleep in the car and I sit up front and fly a few packs. When I get low voltage I head for the car, switch to angle mode and land in the open trunk.

    I would like DJI to build in ExpressLRS into their unit. An all in one. Thanks for an awesome vid Capt. Perhaps next video you can include setting up ELRS with O3 Air Unit??

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  Рік тому +3

      ELRS is a very different technology and DJI wants no part of it because it is FREE, hence no profit to be made. If a drone with the DJI O3 system is purchased with an installed ELRS receiver then the DJI remote 2 can’t be used. The operator than requires a radio with ELRS transmission & needs to know how to setup a model in the radio (which I have shown in many vids) and then needs to know how to configure ELRS and bind to it (more complicated than DJI).

    Thank you so much for taking the time to post this content. I am a long-time large scale RC hobbyist, and I’ve always had an interest in the multi-rotors. I was especially interested in seeing the binding and the radio programming. Radio programming has always been challenging for me. I always manage to get through it, but it’s a struggle. The multi rotor radio programming I know absolutely nothing about so I was interested to see a demonstration. I’m trying to make a decision here. I don’t know if I should go with the DJI system, (I’m thinking about the mini three pro if I go that route)or if I want to go with the long range FPV, iflight stuff. I am leaning towards the DJI mini three pro just because I have zero experience in this arena, but I’m going to do some more research.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  Рік тому +2

      Just for clarification so you don't get confused. A product like the DJI Mini (any model), or DJI Mavic (any model) or DJI Phantom (any model) are all called BEGINNER DRONES, which means even your Grandma could fly them with zero knowledge or experience. So if you want a super easy flight experience, then that is the way to go. The FPV HOBBY is the ADVANCED HOBBY and completely different than the BEGINNER hobby.

    FYI, when connecting the air unit to the DJI Assistant 2 app, there's no need to power up with the battery. the air unit will get power from the usb, stay in low power mode, and not overheat. Very good tutorial, especially setting up modes in BF. As a relative noob. I can't overemphasis NO PROPS if you have the USB and the batt plugged in EVER!!!

    Good explanation and run through of the procedures needed to setup that quad captain, I now have the goggles 2 and the AVATA, but I’m looking at getting some other quads that have the O3 air unit and was wondering how I was going to do it. Now I’m much more confident on doing it, even though I’ve already set up other quads. I just wasn’t sure how to do it with the dji equipment. Thanks for a well thought out video. The only differences are that I fly in mode 1, but that’s just how I was taught from years ago, and although I’ve tried to use mode 2, I was so used to flying mode 2 that it was doing my head in lol.

    I'm an experienced fpv pilot but I found this video so useful for setting up the dji 03 etc. Thank you. In my opinion new pilots should not use horizon mode it really doesn't have any use whatsoever it only teaches you bad habits, my advice would be to go from angle mode then progress to acro. I actually still have acro mode set up so I can fly the drone back to me line of site if necessary.

    Thanks again for such great information! I just did all this with my new flex 25 the other day just before you posted this video. Had some issues with updating goggles V2 with a newer Mac. The software was yelling at me. I might’ve updated the firmware through the app when connected to my phone because all of a sudden everything was binding! Not sure how I managed to get it to work, and but I’m pretty sure, for folks with newer macs, going through the phone/app might have been the way to go. Not 100% but someone else might have a similar experience :)

    Excellent Job Steve. The only thing that I'm confused about is the receiver part. I see that you placed the yellow strip over the yellow needle, but for the other placements you didn't place them over the needle, I also don't understand the purpose of making the yellow strip longer or shorter. Can you explain?

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  Рік тому +1

      The YELLOW STRIP as you call it is a GRAPHICAL range assigned to the frequency of the switch. Most switches on a radio are two position or three position, which means the switch divides the frequency in two or three. The length of your YELLOW STRIP is how much of that frequency you wish to assign. So for example if you were drawing a YELLOW STRIP on a 3 position Swith, you would make it small enough so that 3 equal pieces could be assigned, as is the case in the FLIGHT MODE (Angle, Horizon, Acro). The YELLOW NEEDLE as you call it, is just a graphical representation of where exactly the switch frequency is in relation to the switch, so the YELLOW STRIP it is under is the YELLOW STRIP that is ACTIVE.
