Good morning my friend. I have a Cetus x and the camera stopped transmitting images. What could have happened? How do I test and locate the defect? Can you help me?
Everything is on tiny circuit boards. My guess is your video transmitter is either on the wrong band and channel or it was damaged and no longer works.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I've already looked for the bands and the channels. It must have been from so many falls, but you know he warms up anyway. Thank you anyway
I have always had fun with my Cetus X until I had a crash in cold weather and broke the connector where the vtx plugged into the cable from the flight controller. I can not find the camera or vtx on there website or anywhere else. So I ordered a CO3 and MO3 camera and VTX and a betafpv meteor 85 frame and canopy and switched all the electronics over to that instead.
an awsome review captain.ooo by the way my grandson has started watching your channel and he wants to know what you do with all the drones youve reviewed. he has a beast drone
Let your grandson know that I usually hang onto a product for a month or so and then sell it so that I can buy newer products to review (I only sell to my group of RC friends). I do keep certain items that I simply love and have a need for.
Hello Captain Drone! I really like this FPV, but like you I am farsighted and cannot wear contacts. Since the headset does not look like it adjusts in length. Is the focal length enough for eye relief on this one? I think your farsightedness is worse than mine by a little.
No adjustments so it would probably be blurry for you. Since it is Analog it works with any Analog goggles, so you may wish to consider different goggles. If you have the money get goggles like Fatsharks that have a video screen for each eye and therefore are usually adjustable for each eye and eyeglass prescription.
It really depends on how much you want to get into the hobby and how much you want to spend upfront. The tinyhawk 3 is good but it comes with an frsky receiver, which is bad. This one also has its own RC but at least there is an elrs version. When it comes to the goggles and radio for both kits, they are both pretty meh so you're going to end up replacing them if you decide to get more serious. Also keep in mind this is analog video, which in my opinion is going to start to get replaced with hdzero.
@@Eagle__1 Thank you for taking the time to reply! All are excellent points. Right now I'm toying with the idea of fpv, I'm not sure how much I'll get into it in the future, but I also said the same thing about camera drones 7 years ago and I fly the air 2s right now.
@@chris___howland___photography yeah so maybe it's not a bad idea to get the kit if you're aware that you will likely replace them and don't end up buying several analog drones and end up having to modify or sell them, like somebody typing this reply
Great review. Since this was made, have you been able to get some kind of range from it? Is the only way to look at the video through the goggles? Can you put the card into a reader and do it on a desktop? With BetaFlight, you have to connect it to a computer and make adjustments. If you use the Cetus version, is this necessary? I think a LOT of us just want to fly it and not make every adjustment known. Thanks.
Range is designed for beginners so not very far. If you were standing on a football field with no interference you could fly from one end to the other.
Have a question you may be able to help me with..im a nub' in fpv...I have a Bubito but no controller but I do have a Cetus x kit on the way..are the controller and goggles able to control either or do I need to invest in another controller for the Bubito like fat shark..any help answering this will be very appreciated..thanks
``Wow! Another great review Steve! Wow altitude hold! Beta fpv is onto something here.! I think it would be great to have altitude on our fpv quads. There are times it would be nice to flip a switch to activate it, especially it just takes some programming, the optical sensor might be the tricky part. What do you think??? I love the idea!!
I agree. If I want to scratch my nose while flying an FPV drone I either have to fly super high to remove my hands from the joysticks or land. Having a switch that just holds it level in flight would be nice.
I am going to start mentioning the altitude hold feature on other fpv groups and other you tube channels. Maybe someone who is really smart (not me lol) will develop a way to add this to our fpv quads. Then someone from the big companies will start working on how to put this feature in our quads. Heck look at how fast companies made new frames to work with the new DJ io3 system because of the vibration issue with the gyro in the camera. Also. There were tons of videos on UA-cam with guys coming up with ideas to get rid of the vibration issue.
I have a DJI mini 3 pro but I’m totally new in the fpv world. So I don’t want to spend 1500€ on an Avata kit and then find out it’s not my thing. What’s holding me back is the video quality of this drone, it looks like very bad quality video? And I don’t mean recording, i don’t care about the recordings yet. But I would like some sort of video quality while flying. Is this a good drone for that? Of is there anything better in this price range?
How can I get my EMAX tinyhawk repaired? The motherboard has broken connections and I'm ready to give this little FPV drone flying another try. I bought the EMAX tinyhawk fpv kit and took it to a park for some safe and fun flying around in a large open area. After buzzing around for one battery life in angle mode without wearing the headset, I thought "Wow this is Fun". I put in a fresh battery and put the fpv goggles on and out started flying around in angle mode for a few seconds. Then I putting it into acro mode which wasn't fun at all. Within seconds my little drone slammed into the ground at Max Speed.
Common story with newcomers to FPV. It is 100% impossible for a newbie to fly in Acro mode without destroying their drone. What is the solution? Practice on a simulator. This is what I mean by poor hand/eye coordination. Everyone in the FPV hobby begin with terrible hand/eye coordination until, with practice, it improves. Your drone is easy to repair for someone in the hobby so if you can find someone locally they can help you. If not then you’ll have to get in touch with EMAX USA or EMAX CHINA. At worst you could get a replacement drone (same model) and bind to it.
Also you can configure an Acro trainer mode in Betaflight, it's more complicated than Angle or Horizon modes, but not a nightmare for beginner as clear Acro mode is :) I have set an Acro trainer more for "Arm" switcher for the first time and got a good experience of Acro without falling every 20 seconds :))
@@bobjimenez4464 sure, Acro training mode is the same like usual Acro, but drone has limited pitch/roll angles. So you will not be able to do some flips, only flying. But it will give you an example how to handle the Acro mode without hard crashing :)
Hey Captain, I'm starting in the fpv hobby. Do you think that this cetus X is better than the geprc Tinygo rtf kit? They apparently made a recent upgrade in the tinygo kit, they changed the remote control and now the fpv transmition works in 400 mw frequency.
Tinygo is a pretty good drone but it has one big drawback - its RC. First of all, you will not be able to replace it without replacing receiver (so you will need to do some soldering job). The second drawback - my Geprc RC (the new one) has started to lose signal after 2 months of work. The problem is in the RC's antenna contacts. So now (while I'm waiting for the new Tinygo bodies cause I crashed mine :)) I'm thinking about buying a Radiomaster TX16 with ELRS instead of Geprc GR8. Also, it's better to add a capacitor to the FC's power soldering pads. The bad unfiltered power burned my video recording board so now my camera is also dead In the end, the drone itself is very solid and flying just good. After some changes it will be even better I'm sure
@@leda4iyCome on my friend, that is a lot of trouble with your tinygo... I had some trouble recently with a cetus X betaflight version, I had 2 fligths, after that the drone refused to fly, it simply did not arm anymore kkk, tried everything I could, it looked to be a drone software or a configuration bug... needed to return to the seller
@@williamdoreste3156 well, my tinygo has flied well even after a hundred of crashes lol. I've made a dozen fixes of its frame with heat shrink tube and with several zip ties :) And it worked! And flied good! But in the end I decided to wait for the new camera and frame. So now FC and VTX are covered with conformal coating and are waiting for the new parts :)
@@leda4iyear, what would you do if you were going to buy your first fpv drone rtf kit today. Would you buy one of these Cetus x drones or would you prefer the tinygo? I don't know what to do kkkkk. This 4k 60fps video recording feature that tinygo has is great, but cetus looks to fly better.
@@williamdoreste3156 Look, the main disadvantage of TinyGo - its RC. I mean you can't just buy a new drone and bind it with your RC cause it works on unpopular protocol so your RC can work only with your TinyGo. If you don't want to connect the TinyGo's receiver with the drone of course (which doesn't make any sense, cause range is shit :) ). The main advantage of TinyGo is its pretty solid frame, good VTX. Also I like how it's flying, but I have no a lot of experience with other drones TBH. I can't say the 4k camera is the great advantage of the drone. First of all because video from that camera isn't cinematic of course. It has a jello effect, it's quality is worse than from insta360 and if it's your first drone - you will not be able to make a cool footages - most of them will contain climbing and falling scenes (as it was for me lol ). So if I be able to move in the past before I bought TinyGo, I'd better buy a cheaper drone (I always can upgrade it with the video recording kit like Runcam Split 4 for example) with a perspective to upgrade it to the better one after I get some flying skills without changing RC and goggles. So, GePRC TinyGo is a great beginner kit, but it creating a potential problem for you - you'll need to buy a new RC after you decide to move further to a better and more powerful drone. And you will never be able to sell or even gift your GePRC GE8 RC cause it won't work with any other drone P.S. also, this RC can't be connected to PC so you can't try to fly in a simulator with it
Steve, I have the cetus x kit. The kit for beginners. Believe me it acts like there is no altitude hold at all. I am constantly trying to keep it at altitude and direction. I thought it might be in air mode. No way! Air mode will be impossible to fly in for awhile. As you say it will take a lot of practice. Anyway, what I am experiencing is that normal? When I switch modes it say. Angle, then HOR and Air. Do you think it is me that is just having a problem?
That is the CORRECT way FPV works.... They is no beginner assistance and it is 100% up to the pilot to fly the drone, so your FPV drone is working perfectly.
I have a home made quad that a buddy built but it flies in the diamond attitude. He sent me to a web sight that is no longer there. Can you help me with finding a sight to reprogram the flight controller?
I noticed this model is analog video. I guess the other that connects the betaflight software is analog too. One question: this models (with altitude control) does not connect at all with the betaflight software to modify its parameters?
nice..as if ilike to try this stuff sir😍 if you get the footage onthe sd card record is it good foy uploaing insocialmedia? how many resolution its video footage fromsd card ,sir? thankyou..more power to your channel....
The X versions are the newest, so the most modern. Betaflight Configurator is what all FPV pilots use to configure their drones but Newbies find it confusing so BetaFPV made their own version and added a beginner feature, similar to DJI drones, which is optical flow.
What is the range that you can fly it for the controller and also the video feed? What happens when the connection is lost? Will it come home or just crash where it's at? I've been thinking of getting into the FPV world and this looks like a great way to start. Thanks.
My guess is the range is about a football field or two in length for the video. This is because the antenna on the drone is rather small. If you fly out of range you get snow in your image which causes you to turn around.
So since I now started having to wear glasses now, at my older age, I guess if I was to purchase this new drone I would have to also purchase different goggles?
Hey, I'm just north of Toronto, I bought a drone from get fpv and got nailed with duty and taxes... where is the best place to buy drones in Canada to avoid this injustice lol. I'm in the market for a nazgul hd but with the sub 250 laws I might go flywoo hd... is it technically illegal to fly fpv even with a sub 250?
Hi Everyone quick question. I'm about to buy the CETUS FPV Lite Kit but I can't find info on whether I can connect it's control (Lite Radio 1) to a simulator or not, does anyone know?
I was wondering what controller you would suggest to upgrade the controller they give you with this RTF kit? I don’t mind the one that comes w the kit but i know there has to be better ones. Appreciate any suggestions.
A couple of questions: Can you use those goggles for simulators? (I looked it up and it seems no) Can I wear glasses in those goggles? (It seems no based on the purchase link information.)
The goggles don’t have a video in so they can not work with an external source like a computer simulator. The idea is to stare at your computer when playing sims. As shown in the video they won’t fit over glasses with rims, you’d need to use those tiny menu reading glasses that sit on your nose.
5 mins is standard for flight time. Range is based on where you fly, so in a park you may be lucky to get a football fields length if there is no interference.
I have gone from being near-sighted all my life, to having lens replacement/cataract surgery. I now cannot see up close with out reading glasses. Am I correct in assuming I would need to wear the reading glasses to use FPV goggles?
It depends. If you wear low cost BOX goggles, then yes. If you wear goggles like the Fatsharks I wore in this video to fly the drone, then no because such goggles have a separate l adjustable focus lens for each eye.
This applies to the majority of the pilots of GPS CAMERA drones (I started out as one long ago)... When you fly drones that are GPS CAMERA DRONES (DJI, AUTEL, HUBSAN, FIMI), you reduce your ability for fast hand/eye coordination because the drone is doing all the work for you to keep iteself in the air. In addition the transmitter you are holding in your hands is designed for beginners (so that anyone can fly the same day they charge up the batteries) which means the joystick movements are exaggerated. All of this trains your brain in a manner that makes it less conducive to QUICKLY learn to fly FPV Drones.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 hi thanks, but i read some bad review about aquila, could u make video for it,and is it possible to attach instago or thumb runcam on it?

I would love to see you review a TOROIDAL propeller on a drone. The advantages and disadvantages. Also can you get them as replacements for your drone. Thank youo

I just got the Evo Lite Plus. Can you tell me what program I need to be able to view videos in 6k? 4k works fine with the video player on my laptop. But 6k videos don't play. Please help
Your laptop probably has a 1080p or at most 2K screen, which means the video processor in your computer has to take a high res file and toss away information to show it on your screen. It takes too much processing power to do that with 6k so your laptop won’t play it. If you had a 6k or 8k computer, you’d have a 6K or 8K video processor and all would work. You may be able to use a program like VLC that can simply reduce the video to low resolution to play it on your computer.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thanx. I appreciate the response. I'm happy with the 4k for now. I didn't buy the Lite Plus for the 6k anyways but would've been nice to use it. Thanx again
I've been a public speaker for many years and it is in my nature to make eye contact with everyone. This video was made quickly due to time limitations. I'm glad so many have sent me emails saying they found it hilarious as I jumped between cameras. This is why I rarely do last minute videos.
So as a beginner who will probably want to fly other drones would the older version be a better choice? It seems like the transition to other FPV drones would be smoother as you aren't relying on the altitude hold from the start.
It depends on your hand/eye coordination. Many people have terrible coordination so it takes them months to learn how to fly FPV without crashing. This is the reason for the altitude hold. Once you get use to that, just turn it off.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 What about video gamers who kind of have virtual flying experience (in a game)? Would that develop good hand/eye coordination for the real world?
Betafpv currently is not sending any units out for review. This is much too expensive for me to buy for a review since I would never use it more than once as it is designed for newbies.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thanks for the reply. I am a newbie. I am guessing that if I got the HD, and I liked the hobby, I would use the digital goggles on my future drones. Thanks for your content.
Betafpv customer support is terrible. Bought a Cetus x kit months ago. The beam splitter glass inside the goggles is weak and brittle. The glass broke while I was wiping it. There was a little weak spot in the glass that looked like a dust particle. Betafpv originally offered an RMA, then they decided to just send me the glass, told me I could install it myself. When i got the part, it was the wrong part. I told them and they ghosted me. The design of the goggles is inherently dangerous. There is no protection for your eyes from the week thin glass should something strike you or you fall wearing the goggles, you would be risking your eye sight. Especially kids.

Hi Steve. Great spur of the moment video. Love the camera antics..LOL So I take it that your stuck with the telemetry in the playback off the SD card?
Correct
The front of the boxes are different, the beta flight one doesn’t have a name of the drone on the case in the picture on the box.
Is their a work around to get 4.4.0 installed and the BetaFPV lite 3 controller updated to bind to this firmware?? I jumped the gun and updated the drone to 4.4.0 and cannot get 4.3.1 back installed correctly
That is something I have never tried so can't help.
Really nice set up
Love it, I need to pick a camera to look at. Lol
Cheers
I have always had fun with my Cetus X until I had a crash in cold weather and broke the connector where the vtx plugged into the cable from the flight controller. I can not find the camera or vtx on there website or anywhere else. So I ordered a CO3 and MO3 camera and VTX and a betafpv meteor 85 frame and canopy and switched all the electronics over to that instead.
If only this ran Betaflight and ELRS, it would be perfect.
I think this model with altitude hold is more suitable for kids learning to fly FPV.
I'm a kid and i have a full fpv setup but i dont know how to fly it, so i think i'm gonna buy it

Great video Steve 😎👍✌
Great video as usual. How are you gonna find that drone in the snow? lol
I look for the tiny hole it makes

Hi Steve, great review! Could you say wich simulator you use?
I don’t really use FPV sims anymore as I can just buzz around my house or outside. The used in this video is called FREERIDER
Love the channel, would you recommend the Cetus X or the Cetus pro?
For beginners, the one in this video is the easiest to fly
Great video thanks for your info 👍 im in the uk wheres best place to buy from. I want the beta flight version
Just like for everyone in the RC Hobby, the best place to buy from is always the online stores in China.
Excellent Review Video Thank You.
an awsome review captain.ooo by the way my grandson has started watching your channel and he wants to know what you do with all the drones youve reviewed. he has a beast drone
Let your grandson know that I usually hang onto a product for a month or so and then sell it so that I can buy newer products to review (I only sell to my group of RC friends). I do keep certain items that I simply love and have a need for.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thankyou captain.
In your opinion, is this better than the tiny hawk? I've been toying with the idea of getting into fpv. I fly camera drones.
@@Eagle__1 yup, been there done that with camera drones. In 7 years, I've owned 7 drones. lol

I wear glasses, at well which fatshark goggles do you recommend? Thanks for the vid!
Just look for Analog Fatshark goggles that let you individually focus each eyepiece.
I have no idea what a BUBITO is
Thanks guys, hopefully I’ll find someone in Salt Lake City to help repair my little drone.
@@leda4iy will I be able to wear the FPV headset during training?
The bad unfiltered power burned my video recording board so now my camera is also dead
In the end, the drone itself is very solid and flying just good.
And you will never be able to sell or even gift your GePRC GE8 RC cause it won't work with any other drone
P.S. also, this RC can't be connected to PC so you can't try to fly in a simulator with it
Steve, I have the cetus x kit.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thanks as always for getting back to me Steve. Keep up the good work.

Hey 👋🏻
What's the difference between
1- cetus pro fpv kit and cetus x
2- cetus and betaflight options

Depends on how bad your eyesight is
Take your cell phone and hold it 8” in front of your eyes. If you can’t see a thing, then the goggles won’t work for you.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 nope, won’t work.🤣

Hi Everyone quick question. I'm about to buy the
CETUS FPV Lite Kit but I can't find info on whether I can connect it's control (Lite Radio 1) to a simulator or not, does anyone know?
The answer to your question is clearly answered in this video: ua-cam.com/video/ad-8ETZJRfA/v-deo.html
I would have crashed in the house 15 times. Will stick with my Mavic 👍👍✌️
I was wondering what controller you would suggest to upgrade the controller they give you with this RTF kit? I don’t mind the one that comes w the kit but i know there has to be better ones. Appreciate any suggestions.
I would only consider a new controller if you were planning on getting a new drone with a specific receiver
A couple of questions:
Can you use those goggles for simulators? (I looked it up and it seems no)
Can I wear glasses in those goggles? (It seems no based on the purchase link information.)
The goggles don’t have a video in so they can not work with an external source like a computer simulator. The idea is to stare at your computer when playing sims. As shown in the video they won’t fit over glasses with rims, you’d need to use those tiny menu reading glasses that sit on your nose.
Maybe I missed it, but what is the avg flight time of each set of batteries? And what about range from the controller?
5 mins is standard for flight time. Range is based on where you fly, so in a park you may be lucky to get a football fields length if there is no interference.
Does anyone else have this problem? The yaw stopped working, and all other controls are working. I'm not sure how to fix this.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 AWESOME!! Thanks for the reply. Fatshark it is then!!
What was the DJI Mavic bad hand-eye coordination comment about?
Decent footage

Thanx again
A little extra fuss about your 2nd camera - gotta be difficult for editing as well, but it's a bit jarring to go back and forth
@@trebor239 probably not because the controls and drone response are Arcade style
