What do you mean they were the 90s kids pantera. Pantera was the 90s kids Pantera. Pantera best albums came out in the 90s. Cowboys fro hell was released in 1990 Far beyond Driven 94.
Oh man this video brings back memories. I was in college when I bought the "extended version" of the sacrament DVD that had this video as well. It's been a long time since I saw this.
Same here. I finished my second year at Univ of Az. LoG and mastodon blood mountain came out around the same time. Then they did Unholy Alliance tour that summer
Knowing where Randy was at in the making of this is awesome. I was addicted to both meth and heroin at the same time. Was a dark dark place man. Took me years to recover. I went from being a psycho bum to owning a house and being a god dam dad finally. Always knew this album was deep. Ever since it’s release I just sit, listen, and think dude. Love it. Raw, real, and metal as fuck.

9:31 Just think, 4 of the songs on Sacrament, at one point in time, were called: "She Been Around", "Sluts are on Fire", "Creepy Weenie" and "Oaxacacaca"
When I was a kid I got to meet randy, my uncles band opened up for them and i got to set at the bar and talk to randy for an hour or so, it was so cool. He was so wasted he caught his hair on fire when he lit a cigarette, I'll never forget it and how he was so wasted but as soon as he hit the stage it was like he never had a single drink & how it all started as a joke when randy said he could scream metal & then we got the iconic Lamb of God.
I really love how real this documentary was kept, and yet how it ends with a very optimistic feeling. I felt I got a very authentic sense of the good and the bad of everyone involved. That feeling of creative conflict (which every good band goes through) was SO palpable, it was almost TOO real ( felt both the misery of not having your ideas be accepted AND the awkwardness of not liking ideas presented). I haven't really even listened to a lot of Lamb of God... but I made it all the way thru the doc. Great job, whoever put this together
Studio is always hard work, but its good to hear how people understand eachother and work with eachother. That's the difference between the little bois and the big bois. That's why when your honest and truthful with yourself it makes for great music...
I've recorded drums for multiple albums and EPs and yeah... it can definitely be tough getting everything done. Especially if you're paying out of pocket and don't have days and days of studio time to get everything super perfect. It's just nonstop take after take for hours and hours at a time. No time to rest, take a break, or really take in the whole process. It's still always worth it in the end, but it is definitely a grind. Luckily, modern technology has made it much easier to record yourself. I hate to admit it, but I program my drums these days because I can write and re-write until it's as good as it can be and the drum samples now sound every bit as good as a live recording and I can do it myself without spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars on studio time. I can't lie, I don't miss the stress of the studio. So long as you can play what you program, it's all good.
The producer Machine brought so much to this album imo. He brought out some incredible performances out of everyone with his enthusiasm and energy. Dude is an unsung hero and it was sick to see the behind the scenes and how this was made.
Facts. I loved that guys energy and you could see that it's his passion. There's a lot of good producers out there but there's a difference between being good at your job and being good/absolutely loving every second of your job.

The stuff they did towards the end of aotw are still my favorite guitars riffs of all time.
I watched this a million times whilst I was away in the Navy when it first came out. What a record! I was obsessed with LOG for a while. I saw them in '04 or something nd it was good seeing them play Palaces stuff etc., but then when I saw them at Download 07 they blew me away with the new stuff from Sacrament. I knew all the tracks and they played as they always had, but they were at a new level and it was crazy.
Woww thats great ! that 2007 show is probably is the best of their history. I saw them this year here in my country Colombia the blew my mind. Randy presence is brutal. I wish i could saw them with Chris.
When Chris started to talk about a festivals headliner I really thought back to last September. Last September I went to see log, megadeth, hatebreed, and trivium. When Lamb of God went on stage I was so excited I was shaking. Mark & Willie are my guitar heroes and John is my favorite bass player. Randy had so much control of the crowd and he really captured everybody’s attention. It was an amazing show
This is one of my favorite documentaries of the making of an album. I’ve watched it multiple times and it’s always interesting hearing them work through varying opinions to make a better album
I remember watching this 8 or 9 years ago before I had ever really heard of Lamb Of God. This is what got me into Lamb of God and Sacrament is still my favorite album. So glad to be able to watch this again
No doubt. When I heard that fill in Ruin on the MTV2 Head bangers Ball CD...shit was mind blowing. Then I saw that wall of death in the Black Label video on public access tv. Then I heard 11th Hour on the Freddy vs. Jason sou soundtrack. Then these motherfuckers dropped Ashes Of The Wake. Then Killadelphia? Are you kidding me? Goddamn masters.
Watching this after watching The Making of Omens .. holy crap am I happy for Randy. He's slogged through a whole bunch of demons and come out the far side as a healthier, happier person. So glad the rest of the guys stuck by him. LoG is such a great band and 29 years in, still together, says a whole lot.
This film takes me back to my first apartment after I graduated high school. I watched this religiously because I was just in awe of their talent and the art of how they make an album.. This is the film that made me fall in love with and appreciate these men so much more. This album holds a very special place in my heart 🖤🤘☠💋
I love that you guys put this up on UA-cam. Being homeless right now I can't watch my favorite DVD. Now I can watch this anytime. You guys are awesome. Hope all is well
I was 17 and saw you and Bodom at the Rave in Chicago for Unholy Alliance. It was one of the best show experiences I have ever had, 17 years ago. These records, these sounds, these emotions shaped my metal youth, and here we are fucking 17 years later where my children can pick Randy's voice, and Lamb of God's sound out of all the metal we listen to. Thank you for the 20 years I've gotten to listen to.
Watching this makes me feel terrible for Chris. I know they have their differences but man was he the heart and soul of this band in so many ways. He loved this band and did so much for them. I love the dude. Art is awesome but I’d take Chris everyday of the week
I keep wondering how Chris can go from LOG where the drum line is foremost to a band where the drums are hidden behind the vocals and guitar. Chris was the band. I still love LOG but I worry for them.
Chris joined the band because his friended needed a drummer and he thought he could fill that spot so he went from never playing drums to recording his first album a year later. Drumming was his entire heart and soul.
@@elizabethfrancois7026 I also friend. It’s disappointing because Art is more accent then the heartbeat. I loved their New Album but always wonder what it could’ve been with the Kick ass drumming Chris would’ve done
@@numtoe5861 shoulder surgery I think, but it was that and he was getting tired of playing the same songs all the time. kinda get the vibe that he was a lot more focused on constantly improving the music but the others were just kinda playing the popular tunes and making more mainstream style music
It is crazy to see how laser focused Chris was during this time, then to see him bow out, or back out, or quit, what have you. I think the motorcycle accident put some things into perspective, change his priorities, and just saw LOG as too much a machine and not fun. People think being a rockstar is fun and games but it’s a difficult way of life. Grueling touring schedules, sacrificing a normal family life, a normal social life, etc. I remember Corey Taylor one time said something along the lines of “people think I get paid to be on stage. I would do that for free. I’m paid the 22 hours of the day that I am not on stage”.
@@EMBALMENGRAVE_OFFICIAL definitely my opinion! However, musically and vocally NAH! Dime was a legendary guitarist up there with EVH. Phil's vocals at the time were fucking epic and still hold up today. If Dime was still alive who knows what awesomeness he'd be creating.
52:58 look at marks expression, he had to fight hard for his creation and he's in awe for how it was turining out and coming together, thank you mark for fighting for this beautiful creation that I am still digging to and listening in 2024
Listening to Chris talk about 'I don't want to stray too far from speed metal' etc., seems like such a departure from what he's been saying about not wanting to 'paint by numbers' and stick to a formula. (Yes, I get that this was a long time ago.)
I was recording bass for a blues musician named Eli Cook at Sound of Music in Richmond VA while LoG was on thre third floor recording Sacrament. I remember Randy recording the chorus to Redneck in the vocal booth for a half hour straight saying the same lines over and over. He came down to the kitchen area and looked worn out. Randy was really fun to hang out with. We were showing each other stuff from Google earth on our laptops. The other guys were kind of standoff-ish. But in their defense, they were working and making records on their level is high pressure.
I watched this like 500 times back in the day , it's amazing how different a person Randy is these days! It's night and day , much like James Hetfield he has completely embraced sober living and just seem like different people!
I love descending. First log song I learnt. Still tricky Love you guys ! The end of another nail in the coffin is absolutely amazing.. always in awe listening to #lambofgod
Imagine Dave Mustaine listening to this and being like "Wow, that drummer could totally propel my riffs into the stratosphere!" You know for a fact that when you interviewed, you already HAD the gig. Dystopia is one of the best metal albums released in this decade.
By far the worst and hardest part about being in a working band is the gear. Moving it and setting it up. My idea of success was simply making enough money to pay someone else to move and set up my drum kit. We practiced in my basement. So playing a show meant packing up my drums and loading them into my car. Plus whatever other gear I had to move for the other guys because they left it at the house. Then get to the show. Unpack my drums. Set them up side stage. Move them to the stage for our set. Play our set. Move them back off the stage if we weren't headlining. Packing them up again. Loading them into my car. Drive home. And if I had to, unpack them back into my house. Then, THEN, I could sit down and relax. Destroyed my back over the years and probably the main reason I stopped being in a band. I love playing music. But I hate moving gear.
I remember Machine mentioning when Randy hit those Pitched Note Screams in Nail The Mix. Love that guys voice. Machine is a maniac too. You can learn a lot from both!!!
Randy on stage : 😡👿
Randy on barbeque race : 🤓👍
It's crazy how they hated Descending and called it not metal. I think it's one of the best songs on the album.

44:37 Chris listening to Gojira - World to Come in his car. That must have been oven fresh at the time!
I remember watching this 8 or 9 years ago before I had ever really heard of Lamb Of God. This is what got me into Lamb of God and Sacrament is still my favorite album. So glad to be able to watch this again
Damn they’re so tight playing even in pre production. I miss Chris though
I love LOG so much, I can say they changed my life without exaggeration.
If only I could see you guys some day, maybe another life-changing experience
They are a fantastic band to see live. If you ever get the chance, jump on it. I cannot recommend it enough.
Saw them live for the first time 3 weeks ago. Amazing energy! They sounded great and kicked ass
I'm so glad you put this out on UA-cam. I haven't seen this since is was originally released
“It’s a really awesome day”
Says so much with so little
This film takes me back to my first apartment after I graduated high school. I watched this religiously because I was just in awe of their talent and the art of how they make an album.. This is the film that made me fall in love with and appreciate these men so much more. This album holds a very special place in my heart 🖤🤘☠💋
"He definitely has an outsider's view to metal." Referring to Machine.
A listener's view, in other words. Best thing, really.
I love that you guys put this up on UA-cam. Being homeless right now I can't watch my favorite DVD. Now I can watch this anytime. You guys are awesome. Hope all is well
Where are you living out of?
bro i hope you're doing ok🙏
I was 17 and saw you and Bodom at the Rave in Chicago for Unholy Alliance. It was one of the best show experiences I have ever had, 17 years ago. These records, these sounds, these emotions shaped my metal youth, and here we are fucking 17 years later where my children can pick Randy's voice, and Lamb of God's sound out of all the metal we listen to. Thank you for the 20 years I've gotten to listen to.
That shows you how old this is, Randy just pulled out a flip phone.
Doesn't feel like its been that long still
@@wipsypap man I feel old
And they are all rippin darts like mad. I don’t think many people smoke anymore either haha
And he didn’t have his dreads yet
Randy seems like the kind of dude who would have a flip phone today haha
I've watched this about 20 times back in the day. Great documentary.
Sacrament was the first LoG album i heard in 2018, 95% of time i listen to LoG now 😎
So glad Mark fought for descending!! It’s my no.1 played song on Spotify and unlikely to ever be topped 🤘
Watching this makes me feel terrible for Chris. I know they have their differences but man was he the heart and soul of this band in so many ways.
He loved this band and did so much for them. I love the dude. Art is awesome but I’d take Chris everyday of the week
LoL
@@Blehkid I disagree 100% art is 10x the drummer.
55:53 The disappointed "I drink" had me in stitches
“Chris devotes the entirety of himself to this band” 😢
How awkward now! I still love this record tho
Yea and still got fired.
@@Nico082890 Why awkward though? He did back then, priorities change. Life happens.
Marks Playing is so dynamic
Best band ever and such an awesome album! This is a great piece of history right here
Pump the brakes there bud!I know you probably missed it but PANTERA was the greatest metal band ever.
@@tattooed1979 Damn rite brother CFH4L Stronger Than All Getcha Pull
@@tattooed1979 your opinion. But i believe log is better musicaly and vocally.
Adler is the GOAT of drumming. Not even close.
the song on 15:05 is a kind of groove, sad it never came out to the album
Been with lamb of god since as the palaces burn.
The machine absolutely made this record flawless
Descending is still one of my favorite metal songs period and it's in part because of how much space it gives to the vocals
52:58 look at marks expression, he had to fight hard for his creation and he's in awe for how it was turining out and coming together, thank you mark for fighting for this beautiful creation that I am still digging to and listening in 2024
One of my favorite bands of all time! Been jamming em since 2003! Seen em live 8 to 10 times, awesome live band!
Getting to see Lamb of God in denver might be one of the best experiences of my entire life.
I see them everytime they come to Colorado. Epic
This is still far and above my favorite album by them. So many memories from when this came out
This album came out right when I was really getting into metal in 8th grade. Good times
You gotta love lamb of god, these guys are so down to earth
Listening to Chris talk about 'I don't want to stray too far from speed metal' etc., seems like such a departure from what he's been saying about not wanting to 'paint by numbers' and stick to a formula. (Yes, I get that this was a long time ago.)
He always was the more "metal" in the band. So yes, is very weird when he say that in the explanation on why he leave/was fire from the band
They were insane, Descending is a badass song. One of the standouts on the record.
I was in 10 grade when this came out. Such great memories!
I watched this like 500 times back in the day , it's amazing how different a person Randy is these days! It's night and day , much like James Hetfield he has completely embraced sober living and just seem like different people!
Descending is my favorite LOG song. So glad that it made the record.
My first Lamb of God album. From the opening riff of Walk with me In Hell, I was hooked. 🤘🏻
Man how could Chris and Willie hear that opening riff from Descending and hate it? I could hear it immediately, it was special.
I always thought Descending was skippable. That intro riff sounds like a generic placeholder riff. It's too slow and simple.
Descending is one of my favourites on this album glad it stayed
My favorite album of LoG and Descending my number one from this album. Riffs and solos from this album are crushing.
I love descending. First log song I learnt. Still tricky
Love you guys !
I just seem lamb of god like 2 weeks ago in Detroit.. How can randy still sing so brutal every single night.. they say god helps singers.. 100% true 👍
Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
I remember Machine mentioning when Randy hit those Pitched Note Screams in Nail The Mix. Love that guys voice. Machine is a maniac too. You can learn a lot from both!!!
