Hailey, I was a reader before I found UA-cam, but you were the first person I ever watched talk about books. You help me discover so many authors and books that I cannot thank you enough! ❤️
i JUST became a reader this year. read almost 50 books. discovered a lot of authors and hell lotta books. so it was an awesome reading year for me. thankssss Hailey 😍😍
you helped me find my favorite book series ever, Anna And The French Kiss was soo good, and I would never have known about it without your channel. Keep being you!
Kristin Hannah is a new to me author this year as well. I just finished The Nightingale and sobbed for about the last 50 pages. I read The Great Alone at the beginning of the year and I HIGHLY recommend it! They hold the top two spots on my list this year!
For me it was Brandon Sanderson, he is immediately one of my favourite authors. The books seem so huge, but they read fast and you just can’t stop. I started with The Way of Kings, and it takes some time to get into the world and characters, but it is fanstastic and amazing!
Sarah J Maas! I read ALL of her books in 2018. Zero regrets, I’m a huge fan now. Still not sure how I dodged spoilers for her books for so many years though 🤔
The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah is the only book I’ve read by her but it’s one of my favourite books of the year. It’s heartbreaking and complex with beautiful writing and perfect for this time of year as it’s set in Alaska in the winter. Would definitely recommend you pick up that one next.
"The Great Alone" is probably my favorite Kristen Hannah novel. It just came out this year. "Firefly Lane" is also really good. Those are my two favorite besides "The Nightengale" but I've liked all the books I have read by her!
Also Alison Weir's non-fiction Tudor-era books are also good if you are interested in that time period. They read like a novel but they are factual. Excellent audiobooks.
i read furyborn this year and the author is new to me too, but the book was underwhelming for me - i'm interested in sawkill girls since i've heard better things though!
I listened to all the books in the Lunar chronicles by Marissa Meyer. I’ve had a physical copy of cinder for year but never got more then 30 pages in. I thought I’d give the audiobook a change and I LOVED THEM ALL. I finished all the audio books in the series in a week which is crazy for me. Don’t know how I missed out for so many years on an amazing series.
I also felt the same way about Kristin Hannah when I read The Nightingale in July 2016. I just wanna have all her books! Hahaha! So far I have read 8 Kristin Hannah books and those I recommend aside from The Nightingale are The Great Alone and Night Road
Alison Weir has a series called the "Six Tudor Queens" based on Henry the 8th's queens, there's currently 3 out right now (Katherine of Aragon: The True Queen),(Anne Boleyn: A King's Obsession) and (Jane Seymour:The Haunted Queen). I 100% recommend those books, if you are interested in reading more of Alison Weir's books.
I am enjoying Philippa Gregory’s novel about the Tudor Dynasty. Right now I am almost finish reading The Virgin’s Lover and will start either The Lady of The Rivers or The White Queen.
I've read a couple of hers and they don't seem to mesh with me as much as I'd like them too unfortunately, but I'm glad you're liking them! I do plan on giving her another go soon.
I finally read Simon Vs The Homosapiens Agenda by Becky Albertallu because the movie adaption was coming out, AND OMG IM NOW OBSESSED WITH HER!! I have no idea HOW I hadn't read any of her books yet but her contemporaries are SO ADORABLE and I binged her books!!
Rachel Caine is one of my favorite authors. The Morganville Vampires is such a good series (15 books but so good). Also 'Honor Among Thieves' has a sequel coming out on February 19th called 'Honor Bound'.
I also discovered Alison Weir this year. Though I adore a lot of Philippa Gregory's books, I feel that Alison Weir's book are a bit more historically accurate. Definitely check out the Katherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn books by her.
I discovered Holly Black this year too! I've actually got the Tithe books and I'm holding them in reserve for after I finish The Wicked King. Lol. Another new to me author was Leigh Bardugo, SoC just swept me off my feet. Favorite read of the year.
V.E. Schwab and Brandon Sanderson are the BEST new to me authors I've read this year - I read the Shades of Magic trilogy by V.E. Schwab and LOVED it, and I read the first half of the Mistborn series (which I need to reread now haha oops) and Steelheart, and I want to read all his books in 2019
For Kirsten Hannah I think you would enjoy Winter Garden: half if it is historical fiction and the other half is in our time. Her new release The Great Alone is historical fiction.
Hi Hailey, You should read Magic Hour by Kristin Hannah. It is my favorite book by her that I have read so far. It was also the first book that left me in tears so have the tissues ready. Thanks for reminding me how much I love reading!
Robin Benway has a couple other books and I really recommend Emmy & Oliver!! And if you want to read more Shannon Hale my favorite is the Princess Academy trilogy!!
Claire Legrand was new to me, too. Furyborn was one of the first arcs I've ever received, so I jumped onto reading it as soon as I could. It's not without its flaws, but I loved it and the pacing! Also read Sawkill Girls, which was very different from Furyborn, but also enjoyable. :)
I love Robin Benway I almost read all Her books.I completly love Far From the Tree I recommend to you Emmy and Oliver by her. Love your bookmas videos😍😍
Marisha Pessl has another book called "Special Topics in Calamity Physics", and it really confuses me that people say "Neverworld Wake" is her first YA novel, because STCP takes place in high school. I definitely thought it was YA until people were saying this was her first.
This was the year I got back into reading in general. It had been like 2 years since I read a book for pleasure. So my main new to me author is definitely Sarah J Maas. Like...holy shit the Throne of Glass series is SO good. I just finished the 4th book and I cannot wait to read the rest.
I got away from reading for a while but really got back into it this year. This is my list of new to me authors for 2018. 1.) Mary E Pearson 2.) Susan Collins 3.) J. K. Rowlings 4.) Scott Westerfield 5.) Laini Taylor 6.) Lemony Snicket 7.) Rick Riordan 8.) Carrie Ryan 9.) Gordon Korman 10.) Lauren Kate 11.) Sabaa Tahir 12.) Veronica Rossi 13.) Libba Bray 14.) Sarah J. Mass 15.) Micola Yoon 16.) Roald Dahl 17.) John Grisham 18.) Natalie C. Parker 19.) Marie Lu 20.) Marissa Meyer I will stop there but there are many more. Some new authors and some who have been writing a while.
I found Colleen Hoover through booktube and I wanted to read what everyone was talking about and I absolutely love her. I've read all of her books this year and I cannot wait for her new book to hit paperback. I'm also very excited because I get to meet her summer of 2019. :)
You should read Austenland by Shannon Hale. If you like Jane Austen, you’ll like that one. As for Kristen Hannah, her last book The Great Alone has taken the world by storm. Also Firefly Lane seems like a good one and if you end up reading that one, I’ll read along with you.
I rediscovered because i knew of them before but was not obsessed with their writing until now, where I’m hooked but its Cinda Williams Chima and it saddens me that not one single book tuber ever has her books on their shelf, that i can see, or talks about her ever!! How!!!!! She has the Heir Chronicles and the Seven Realms series as well as another one I can’t remember the title of and is my fave YA writer because she does YA fantasy the best if you ask me.
You need to read Fiona McIntosh books she's brilliant. I'm a new fan of her and I love her so much. Goal is to collect all of her books by her birthday it is doable.
Jodi McAlister is an author I discovered this year. www.qbd.com.au/valentine-01-valentine/jodi-mcalister/9780143574163/ - she's an Australian author. She was one of the guests at a pop culture convention here in Australia, and I got the first two of her books signed by her there; and the third one is coming out next year in Feb. Also ones not discovered this year - but have read quite a few of their books during the year. Maria Lewis - author of the Who's Afraid series and The Witch Who Courted Death. Lynette Noni - author of the Medoran Chronicles and the YA book 'Whisper'
Far From The Tree is a really good book. I enjoyed it too. However, I didn't really enjoy Furyborn. The protagonists aren't my favourite characters and the plot wasn't super intriguing for me. I am not planning on reading the sequel (s). I've also read Sadie recently and it didn't live up to the hype.
Neverworld Wake was a brain dead piece of trash. Interesting concept with extremely poor execution, padding and useless characters. So predictable you can guess what happens with a brief summary of it. One of the worst books I have ever read.
Hailey, I was a reader before I found UA-cam, but you were the first person I ever watched talk about books. You help me discover so many authors and books that I cannot thank you enough! ❤️
Same here! I jumped onto the bandwagon late and am catching up on her series now :)
I read Cassandra Clare’s books this year and can’t believe it took me this long!!
The Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah. Also historical fiction and about sisters! So heart breaking. So good!
I googled it lol.. Courtney Summers is Canadian! She was born in ontario!
Excelllllent! 🇨🇦
i JUST became a reader this year. read almost 50 books. discovered a lot of authors and hell lotta books. so it was an awesome reading year for me. thankssss Hailey 😍😍
I finally read Six of Crows which is my first introduction to Leigh Bardugo. And it was such an amazing introduction!

My absolute favourite book by Kristin Hannah is Winter Garden, its perfect for winter and sooo magical!! I really need to do a reread soon.
Kristin Hannah's The Great Alone is my favorite book of the year! It's SOOOO good!
you helped me find my favorite book series ever, Anna And The French Kiss was soo good, and I would never have known about it without your channel. Keep being you!

Rachel Caine’s Morganville series is lengthy but pretty good 😊
For me it was Brandon Sanderson, he is immediately one of my favourite authors. The books seem so huge, but they read fast and you just can’t stop. I started with The Way of Kings, and it takes some time to get into the world and characters, but it is fanstastic and amazing!
Alison Weir’s nonfiction books are really good too 👍
I loved The Cruel Prince and I’m actually reading The Darkest Part of the Forest by her too and I really enjoy it so far
Sarah J Maas! I read ALL of her books in 2018. Zero regrets, I’m a huge fan now. Still not sure how I dodged spoilers for her books for so many years though 🤔
You're seriously my fav booktuber!

Ahhh I hope you love it!

👍I was going to recommend Philippa Gregory 🤗

Happy bookmas!
We watched one of your videos in ELA class the other day and I was so excited!!! I love you so much!
I discovered Holly Black this year too! I've actually got the Tithe books and I'm holding them in reserve for after I finish The Wicked King. Lol. Another new to me author was Leigh Bardugo, SoC just swept me off my feet. Favorite read of the year.

oOoh, it's so cool that courtney summers is a canadian author!
For Kirsten Hannah I think you would enjoy Winter Garden: half if it is historical fiction and the other half is in our time. Her new release The Great Alone is historical fiction.
I think my new to me author would be Tomi Adeyemi, author of Children of Blood and Bone. It was an amazing book.
You should read "The Great Alone" by Kristin Hannah. I loved the Nightingale and you get so caught up in the Great Alone like your in the book

Courtney Summers is actually a pretty popular contemporary author so I'm surprised you hadn't heard of her. Especially if she's Canadian!
Sadie by Courtney Summers seriously made me cry! Such a good book 😭💕
Patrick Rothfuss and Mark Lawrence
I’ve never read any of these books! I’m going to keep them as ideas for 2019!
