Sorry about day 1 being a miss! For those of you who don't follow me on Twitter, I decided to skip it because I lost all the footage. Thanks for understanding. Hope you'll enjoy the rest of Bookmas!!! Also apparently Royals is set in summer so I know nothing WHAT ELSE IS NEW
Luckily I was smart this year and set my goal to only 1 book. 😂 I’ve completed the challenge 19 times over, so it says I’ve surpassed it by 1900%. It makes me feel accomplished.
Both Swan Lake and the Nutcracker ballets are written by Tchaikovsky, so that's probably why you get wintery vibes :-) I too am planning on reading the Nutcracker and I have this gorgeous illustrated edition that I can't wait to jump into.
Skyward is so good! I think it’s a great way for people to experience Sanderson without the hefty adult sci-fi tag attached. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the whole book!
For dark breaks the dawn- swans make me think of swan lake, which makes me think of ballerinas, which makes me think of the nutcracker, and then Christmas. So I totally get it lol
The sims is amazing. It would eat up all my spare time because I love it. Also skyward is amazing. I got it last month and finished it quickly. The audiobook was wonderful and keep me hooked. It was my first taste of Brandon Sanderson and now I want to devour all of his books.
I have the same with Kingdom of Ash, I cant remember anything from the otherbooks anymore. So I started a re-read.. But it takesss for ever. I read the Royals in between because i wanted something more simple! Really liked it! :)
Did you read Every Heart a Doorway? It seems like it has kind of a similar premise as The Light Between Worlds. If you like that book, you might like Every Heart a Doorway.
I totally needed this video today. I just binged watched so many of your videos while I studied for finals lol you're seriously the only booktuber that I watch❤❤
Good luck with your TBR! Those are some really cool books. Haven't read Skyward yet but I love Sanderson! Can't wait to get to it but that might take until January lol I find it funny though that you call it a big book.. to be a bit over 500 pages isn't exactly big. Well.. it is but could be bigger. But I'm German and most of our translated works tend to get bigger because of German grammar so.. I might just be really used to it lol
SO many good ones for wintery vibes! I didn’t even think of adding Carols and Chaos or Stealing Snow to my TBR this month but now I want to read those too ⛄️
Your not only Hailey, I haven't read the seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo either! I would like to maybe put it on my December tbr but I have a feeling I won't get to it till sometime next year. But maybe if you end up really loving it that could help motivate me because I read a decent amount of the same books you do!
Enjoy KOA! I'm currently reading it and it's soooooo good! At first keeping track of the characters is hard, but once you get past the first 100 pages it's easier to follow along
So excited to see your Bookmas Hailey! A break will be so good for you girl, just stay away from the addicting Sims haha. Sims is a rabbit hole for me as well. I'm a big fan of the Nutcracker as well, so that one is on my TBR list too.
I found a series by Mary E Person. It came out a while ago but it is my favorite read of the year. (Along with the spin off series that was released this year.) the first book is called, “The Kiss of Deception”. I don’t know if you have read this book series but it is amazing.
Such a great TBR! I had no clue that the nutcracker ballet was based off of a book. I would love to give it a shot, and it would definitely be the perfect December read! Can't wait to hear what you think about The Light Between Worlds. I read that one last month and really enjoyed it. I did a quick non spoiler video about it and in comparison to Narnia if you'd like to check it out. Loving the christmas vids!!
My December TBR consist of See You in the Cosmos by Jack Cheng (finished it and loved it!), Renegades by Marissa Meyer (I'm on page 16 currently), Arch Enemies by Marissa Meyer, Unsouled by Neal Shusterman, Wintersong by S. Jae Jones and translated edition of Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. Okay, that's a lot because I usually only read 5 books a month and Renegades & Arch Enemies are hella thick, but let's try I guess?
Completely unrelated to the video but I work at Indigo too and when I'm on cash I notice I say "awesome" all the time, now I'm wondering if you say "Amazing" like you did in your bookcon vlogs to customers lololol
If you are looking for suggestions regarding Dear Evan Hansen, then I would say try to listen to the cast album before reading the book as the songs are representative of the story’s original form. Happy Vlogmas!!
Ooooh looking forward to you reading brandon sanderson. I finished the original mistborn trilogy this year. Probably going to start Warbreaker in the next day or two. Maybe Skyward would be my next read. Ive never tried reading scifi before.
I just finished Dear Evan Hansen today and I would say listen to the songs first I did and It helped me make connections I could take brakes when a song came up in the book I recognized it was amazing 5/5 stars
You should check out Seanan McGuire’s Wayward Children series. It’s based entirely on the concept of what happens when kids return from fantasy worlds. It’s set at a group home for these children who desperately want to find the doorways back to their worlds. The first novella is called Every Heart A Doorway. The fourth novella, In An Absent Dream, comes out early next year. I promise you will love it.
I L O V E The Nutcracker, but I've never read the original story! Oh my goodness, I need the Dear Evan Hansen book! I love that deer on your shelf behind you! Cute! (In the top right-hand corner of the video.) Anna James is a booktuber! Her channel is called A Case For Books. She was recently on Sanne's channel booksandquills. They did a video together.
You should read gingerbread cookie murder and sugar cookie murder. And christmas caramel murder and candy cane murder. (Plus side all the books have great holiday dessert recipes) (it's a series too.)
The ballet and most subsequent versions fo the nutcracker are based on the dumas adaptation (guy who wrote three musketeers and count of monte cristo) not Hoffman. Not sure how different they are though I think the hoffman original is slightly darker?
I'm trying to convince my brother to get Skyward on audiobook so we can listen to it together. I loved his last Sci-Fi YA novel, so I'm really looking forward to his new one. Also, yes to taking December off! I finally finished revisions for my book and I'm not doing any more writing until January.
Omg if you haven't tried Brandon Sanderson books, you should try the Mistborn series - it's officially adult I suppose, but the main character is a 16-year old girl and it's one of my favourite fantasy books I've ever read (or listened to, I listened to the audiobooks)
So happy you're doing vlogmas! This is my first year attempting it and it's being great so far! So exciting to see all the vlogmas videos popping up :D I'll be reading The Nutcracker too this month! I went to see the ballet once and it was incredible and magical but I've never read the book, so I can't wait to see how that is :D I'm currently reading Skyward! I't not as mindblowing as the other Sanderson books I've read so far but it's reeaaally good nonetheless!
Sometimes...when I feel like I can't reread a book, because the new one is out and "spoilers" I wat a review...and it's like a quick summary of the book prior. It helps me.(:
Your reading taste fascinates me. I wish I could read more classics. I have a question : do you read poems? Specifically, have you read poe's poems? And could you please make a video of classics for beginners? ❤
Ahh Dark breaks the Dawn one of my faves! Though it’s ends absolutely horribly, and the sequel is not good. So what I’d recommend is to read up to chapter 39, and stop there
For KOA I rewatch book reviews before I get into the next one because SJM writes bloody bricks and I ain't got the time to reread in order to read the next one haha, I'd probably also watch reviews for Empire of Storms for continuity
I'm currently almost done reading Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson after reading half of the Mistborn trilogy and then putting it down for now. But Steelheart made me cry SO MUCH (and I'm really not a book crier). Definitely give Steelheart a try, it's shorter so it's not that hard to read compared to some of his other works, and I think it's a great introduction to his writing. Love you Hailey!
If you like the idea of characters returning from a fantasy world, you should check out Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire! It is all about children who slip into a fantasy world (much like Alice) and are forced to return to real life. It's dark and creepy, but so so good. Tilly and the Bookwanderers is on my TBR! Anna James is a lovely human and I can't wait to read it :D Skyward is amaaaaazinggggggg!!! It's a great place to start with sci-fi and is totally a take on the boarding school trope. So good.
Hi Hailey! I just read on Goodreads that this is a spinoff of Suitors and Sabotage, do you think it is okay yo read this book as a standalone or should I read S&S first? I love Downton Abbey and even though I know Carols and Chaos has nothing to do with that show I feel like it is the perfect thing to get me into the Christmas spirit!
Sorry about day 1 being a miss! For those of you who don't follow me on Twitter, I decided to skip it because I lost all the footage. Thanks for understanding.
Hope you'll enjoy the rest of Bookmas!!!
Also apparently Royals is set in summer so I know nothing WHAT ELSE IS NEW
I'm reading the Game of Thrones books this winter because... y'know... winter is coming
Are the books good
I have lord of the rings on my tbr too so it's gonna take a while lol
Your comment made me laugh (x
Lily Curran hahaha
Unless you live in Australia. Like myself. And Christmas is in the middle of dead summer. ☀️🤬☀️
does anyone else have a massive decembder tbr because of their goodreads reading challenge?
🙋♀️
ohh now you've mentioned it...!!! I had forgotten about my goodreads challenge and now I've realised...I'm very behind....! hahaha
I do but it's not because of reading challenge suprisingly iv read 149 books so far this year my goal was 100😂
Luckily I was smart this year and set my goal to only 1 book. 😂 I’ve completed the challenge 19 times over, so it says I’ve surpassed it by 1900%. It makes me feel accomplished.
ikr!!!!!
Bookmas is honestly one of the reasons why December is the best month
🎅💜
YAS
I love Bookmas
Both Swan Lake and the Nutcracker ballets are written by Tchaikovsky, so that's probably why you get wintery vibes :-) I too am planning on reading the Nutcracker and I have this gorgeous illustrated edition that I can't wait to jump into.
Skyward is so good! I think it’s a great way for people to experience Sanderson without the hefty adult sci-fi tag attached. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the whole book!
The Nutcracker is such a sweet and atmospheric story, I reread it for Christmas every year 🎄 I actually have the same edition 😍
For dark breaks the dawn- swans make me think of swan lake, which makes me think of ballerinas, which makes me think of the nutcracker, and then Christmas. So I totally get it lol
I loved 7 husband's so much!! I really enjoy Taylor Jenkins Reid's writing :)
Kingdom of Ash literally took me foreverrrr to finish but it is an amazing book with a great conclusion. Hope you love it!
The sims is amazing. It would eat up all my spare time because I love it.
Also skyward is amazing. I got it last month and finished it quickly. The audiobook was wonderful and keep me hooked. It was my first taste of Brandon Sanderson and now I want to devour all of his books.
YAAAY SO excited for bookmas
I have the same with Kingdom of Ash, I cant remember anything from the otherbooks anymore. So I started a re-read.. But it takesss for ever. I read the Royals in between because i wanted something more simple! Really liked it! :)
Finally someone who likes Frozen! I feel like everyone hates it because it's been talked about so much when it came out. I really like Frozen too. ❄⛄
Did you read Every Heart a Doorway? It seems like it has kind of a similar premise as The Light Between Worlds. If you like that book, you might like Every Heart a Doorway.
"Kiss me in New York" is one of my favourite books ❤️📚🗽
I totally needed this video today. I just binged watched so many of your videos while I studied for finals lol you're seriously the only booktuber that I watch❤❤
Carols and Chaos sounds like Downton Abbey because the maid & the valet fall in love. ☺️
Good luck with the reading!
I love seeing all the Christmas books during this time of year. I never heard of the ones you mentioned, so obviously I added them to my tbr.
omg Jackson at the end! Love it 😍😍
So many books! I hope you can get through them all!
The color white gives me Christmas vibes so that might be why
The intro and the outro are both so adorable!
So many good Christmas and wintery reads! I really want to check all of these out!
So excited for Bookmas! Also LOVE your sweater in this vid!
Your hair looks so amazing in this video! It’s beautiful!
I read Kingdom of Ash in two days because of how much I loved it! I hope you love it too!
Half my TBR now comes from your suggestions on these videos, especially the fantasy stuff,Happy Bookmas to you!
SO many good ones for wintery vibes! I didn’t even think of adding Carols and Chaos or Stealing Snow to my TBR this month but now I want to read those too ⛄️

i read stealing snow last year and i really enjoyed it!!
I'm excited to hear your thoughts on The light between worlds! I really want to read It!!
Eeekkk... I have Skyward and The Light Between Worlds on my TBR this month too 😁✨
You could try book series recap for tower of dawn, it gives a very detailed summary which takes only 10 min to read and you're up to date!📚🎄💕⛄
I loved “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo!” But I actually read it though.
Jackson so cute in his Santa hat
AHHHHH THE PICTURE OF JACKSON AT THE END
Aaaa Uprooted is one of my favourite books of all time, I hope you like it!!!
Your lighting looks so good!
I found a series by Mary E Person. It came out a while ago but it is my favorite read of the year. (Along with the spin off series that was released this year.) the first book is called, “The Kiss of Deception”. I don’t know if you have read this book series but it is amazing.

I’m currently reading Carols and Chaos! Not far enough in to make a comment but im excited for it!
I haven't heard of most of these books. I'll have to check them out!

The light between worlds is a Narnia retelling
SO EXCITED FOR BOOKMAS
I've been waiting for this vid of yours. Gooonnnaaa read it all!
I’ve heard so much about Uprooted now, I may pick it up 🙂 happy reading! ✨📚
Completely unrelated to the video but I work at Indigo too and when I'm on cash I notice I say "awesome" all the time, now I'm wondering if you say "Amazing" like you did in your bookcon vlogs to customers lololol
royals is so funny, you'll definitely enjoy it! just only expect fun and humor, it's not deep lol but i was literally laughing out loud!
good luck getting through your tbr!
If you are looking for suggestions regarding Dear Evan Hansen, then I would say try to listen to the cast album before reading the book as the songs are representative of the story’s original form. Happy Vlogmas!!
Skyward is amazing!
First time getting into avid reading during Bookmas. I'm so excited!
The only new POV character in kingdom is Fenrys, one of the fae who is sent to Adarlan by Maeve in Empire of Storms
Ooooh looking forward to you reading brandon sanderson. I finished the original mistborn trilogy this year. Probably going to start Warbreaker in the next day or two. Maybe Skyward would be my next read. Ive never tried reading scifi before.
Your book shelves look so pretty!😍
I just finished Dear Evan Hansen today and I would say listen to the songs first I did and It helped me make connections I could take brakes when a song came up in the book I recognized it was amazing 5/5 stars
Your end card should definitely always be Jackson wearing a different hat for various holidays and seasons.
You should check out Seanan McGuire’s Wayward Children series. It’s based entirely on the concept of what happens when kids return from fantasy worlds. It’s set at a group home for these children who desperately want to find the doorways back to their worlds. The first novella is called Every Heart A Doorway. Love the intro! Good luck with Bookmas! 🎄🍭☕ You have such great sweaters!
Have you read “The Afterlife of Holly Chase?” I know you like retellings and it’s supposed to be a retelling of a Christmas Carol.
I can soooo relate, I lose so much time playing Sims lol

Dark Breaks the Dawn was good! I hope you enjoy it! Looks like you have some good reads!
Also, SKYWARD IS AMAZING!!!
Woah your audio sounds so nice😍 idk if it was always this way or that you got a new microphone but I like it haha
please do a book recommendations video this month!! xx
I would love to read a YA version retelling of Thumberlina. There is an idea for you...
So what I’d recommend is to read up to chapter 39, and stop there
good luck with your tbr!!
What foundation do you use? I love it!
Omg your moose in the background. I have it too haha
i need to read dark breaks the dawn and stealing snow!
i want to read the nutcracker too!
Also, the audiobook for The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is super good. I would recommend listening to it.
Would you ever consider writing a short story collection or is that not your thing?
For KOA I rewatch book reviews before I get into the next one because SJM writes bloody bricks and I ain't got the time to reread in order to read the next one haha, I'd probably also watch reviews for Empire of Storms for continuity

I just finished the audiobook of the seven husbands of evelyn hugo and I loved it!!! You should totally read it its so amazing!!!!
I thought stealing snow was a Snow White retelling. I can’t remember but I only got 100 pages through before I dnf it but I hope you enjoy it!!
There is a very good chance I could be wrong, but I guess we shall find out haha!
Hailey in Bookland haha yeah, either way I hope you enjoy it!!
I loved Royals
Hi Hailey! I just read on Goodreads that this is a spinoff of Suitors and Sabotage, do you think it is okay yo read this book as a standalone or should I read S&S first?
