    In this video, my sister Hannah and I ride through the New River Trail State Park. This trail is 50 miles long and part of the Rail to Trail program that spans across Virginia made up of hiking/biking trails that were originally railroads and were turned into public trails.
    We rode this out and back, therefore making up about 100 miles of trail traveled. We stopped at mile 64 to enjoy a nice camping spot right by the New River where the water was extremely calm, there were very few bugs, and the weather was absolutely perfect.

    @2:05 The trailside series of sculptures is intended to be viewed in-line. That is, stand at the end, and look through all of them in series (as if looking through a gunsight). I won't ruin the surprise by stating here what image will be revealed.

    I suggest you adjust your seats so one can extend at the knee better.

    Southern Railroad bought N&W and became Norfolk Southern. Late 80’s, early 90s.

    The bars over the cave are to keep people out and allow bats to go in.

    Well in 2016 I did galax to dora junction and back in less than 12 hours ! And still had a blast. I dedicated this ride to my friend who passed in 2012. I think we first rode it in 2008 or 2009 ! We did 96 miles that time

    Hi, is that trail mainly hard packed gravel / dirt? Planning on riding it soon in November. Any really loose ground or difficult terrain? Thanks! Great video!!!!

    • @oneilladventures6840
      @oneilladventures6840  2 роки тому +2

      Yes mainly hardpacked gravel. Some spots where there was mud from recent rains. It’s not too loose and very few spots where it was deep gravel. Pretty comfortable overall

    Thinking about doing this in mid April for my brothers first bike tour. Any restaurants or cool places you'd recommend in Pulaski?

    • @oneilladventures6840
      @oneilladventures6840  3 роки тому +1

      I can only speak to that one restaurant that we stopped at in galax. There aren’t many restaurants right at the trailhead in Pulaski and you may have to bike a little farther into town from the trailhead if you are starting in galax and going towards Pulaski. It gets a little remote in some spots in the middle.

    Which campground did you camp at? Double shoals?

    • @oneilladventures6840
      @oneilladventures6840  3 роки тому +2

      That's correct. There is a big campground where a few tents can go, but a few of the spots are small and private.
