Just finished watching the whole thing and it's one of the best PCT films I have seen! This needs so much more credit and views! Can't wait for my attempt in 2023.
Agree with everyone. This is one of the best PCT documentaries I have watched. The cinematography was amazing. The drone footage really conveyed the vastness and remoteness of the PCT. BTW, what was tour start date?
@@backpackinglife I will be there on the 22nd. Leaving next day early. Perfect start date. PCT is still cold at night until about the 1st week of May. If the rain continues, we will have a historic snowpack. Lots of water in the desert, but snow may never melt in the Sierras. With your extensive travel experience, you will have a great time on the PCT.
I have watched a lot of PCT documentaries, and yours is absolutely the best. This is something I will never do. I am older and not in shape, but I like watching them, and I really enjoyed this a lot. You showed a lot of beautiful scenery and even some zero days, and the coverage was just amazing something a lot of the other documentaries are lacking . So many of them seem to rush through it, and it feels like they're just running through the whole trail. Good job!
For me to sit and watch anything for 3 hours straight through is a big ask, I usually can't sit still that long. I watched your whole video without pausing it. I live in Washington, so that's why I originally started to watch. Thank you for showing us parts of the country we normally don't get to see. I'm glad you got to see the beauty of my state I love so much 😊
Without a doubt this has to be be the best PCT film I think Ive ever watched, and no disrepect to the other creators, but I just loved how this was shot, the cinematograpy, the narration, I couldn't wait to come back to watch another segment to see where we were taken on the next leg. Superb, and thankyou!
Thank you so much for taking us along, very well done mate! Nice visuals, cutting, voice-over, story-telling, the use of different focal lengths, the play with depth of field and especially the music too: All of this shows your dedication to filmmaking and to the trail. Also very nice to see more impressions of the different regions (especially the Sierra) due to the length of the movie. And some very useful pro-tips concerning planning and equipment. Compared to other years, the Sierra seemed much easier to cross. In addition, I highly recommend to watch "The long way home" from Titouan Le Roux, with an epic strech over San Jacinto and trough the Sierra. He did the PCT in a continuous footpath in 2023, the year with the highest snowpack ever. Happy trails Crosshair
Wow!!! Incredible, amazing cinematography! Unbelievably talented! top 5 best PCT doc! He clearly has a natural given talent at storytelling and perfect eye for catching the views! Music selection top notch Well done, subscribed and waiting to view your next work👏👏
This is a WOWSER of a documentary. One of the best. Worth watching again and again. Yes u inspire and brought back some of my most favorite memories. Kudos for not only completing the PCT but for making such an epic vid!
I think this is the first Three hour video I have ever watched on UA-cam. But, over 3-4 days I did get the whole thing watched. I think you did a great job with your style of filming and narrating. A+
I started out by thinking I would only watch a small portion of the video. However, my wife and I really were captured by it. I have watched probably 20 or more people who attempted or completed the trail in 2022 since I had a friend who did it this year. It was worth the time in every respect. Takes special people to take this on. I have backpacked for over 50 years, so have an inkling how challenging this is. Congratulations!
Well, this was one video that I simply didn’t want to end, simply the best thing I’ve watched in years! Thank you for sharing your journey and making if not the best through hiking video of a lifetime. I’ve done many things, but this has just gone to the top of my list of things to do. Truly beautiful x
My dude! You crushed it. The detail and videography of this video is by far my favorite. Appreciate you taking the time to give us a glimpse of your journey.
Love love love your mini movie! We also WUV the Eastern Sierra. We don’t thru hike but day hikes and even driving to beautiful meadows and lakes gives you breathtaking views too. Thanks for gorgeous video!
I did a 4 hr hike today and listened to this entire documentary. It captured many things other videos had not before. I love the diff faces at the end. Excellent!
Hi I was PCT class of ‘21 and loved watching this. A wonderful documentary, filming, narration and story telling. My dates were 5/9 - 9/23, I did not recognise anyone you filmed, but did recognise the same trail conditions I experienced. I was caught in a storm just outside Stehekin which still causes me angst and your experience mirrored mine. What a wonderful trail, it means so much to me and the greatest time of my life
Thank you for sharing this amazing piece of art! The amount of time to put this together must have been enormous. You have some serious skills! Congratulations on this film and on completing your thru hike! You started 12 days after me and our adventures were so different (timing of fires, weather at the end). Happy Trails - Journey
This was an absolutely amazing and captivating video with incredible photography. Congratulations and thank you for sharing this. Could not stop watching this until I finished it. ❤
Thank you for letting me be part of your adventure. I'm 73, just recovering from 3 major surgeries in one year (2 new knees and a neck fusion) and don't think I could do this, but who knows? I'm going to give it a try if at all possible. Your inspiration has been remarkable.
As a 2023 PCT hiker starting in late may, this has been full of priceless information. Thank you for showing all of the parts- not just the good ones, and for helping me get out of my head. Get to the terminus and start walking.
Definitely one of the top thru hike documentaries out there. Thank you sharing your journey. Amazing footage and story telling. The PCT really is a beautiful trail 👣 🌻
Refreshing film. Most PCT videos seem to focus on miles, miles and miles. This was more concentrated on the day to day experiences, which is what you want to watch. Most narratives are “got in 15 miles before lunch, shooting for such and such after a total of 32 miles, etc”. Tediousness. Great great job….
Just finished watching your PCT video and we realized about a quarter of the way through, you were one of the hikers we stayed in the van at Harts Pass with. It was super cool to relive the experience through your video. Thank you! Farm Boy and Phoenix.I have a photo I took of you man maamaries and ginger pony I was hoping to attach but couldn't figure it out.
Hell yeah! I remember; that was my last night before Canada. I wish I had filmed more of our experience in the van but at that point I was kinda over it. Im glad y'all liked the film; I really enjoy hearing when hikers from the 2021 season watch it!
Excellent vlog. The aerial shots really add a dimension. I also have drones but am hesitant to use them where they are restricted. Congratulations on persevering to the end.
This is by far the most amazing hike. I watched the entire documentary. Greatly narrated. I did some thru-hiking in the past, my playground was the Pacific Northwest, in British Columbia and the Canadian Rockies in Alberta. Now I am aging pushing 65, I am still planning for hikes but on shorter distances. The PCT is impressive and this is an exceptional accomplishment. Thanks for sharing, that was an adventure of a lifetime 🇨🇦🏔🥾😎☯️🇺🇸.
Thank you for this incredible video of an incredible trek on an incredible trail. This really makes me want to do the PCT. Congratulations on your achievement.
Incredible ! 🎉Thanks for sharing this epic film with us! You made it and you nailed it! 😃 Thanks also for the really good film content mixed perfectly with music, had to be a lot of work, puuh. Everyone in the world have to see it, hope it will be! That were 3 really short hours 😉 I wish there will be a time to walk it on my own! Greetz from Germany! Sascha 🌍
What an awsome, honest and inspiring film... I am now considering quitting work! You did a good job. Thank you for sharing your adventure. Safe travels.
Wow, you did a great job documenting your PCT hike. This is one of my favorite films on the PCT five stars! It needed to be as long as you made to put the adventure into perspective. I have dreamed of doing this for years and I am planning to start my journey on the PCT on March 11th. I hope I can do it. I am going to give it my best shot. My emotions are scared and excited all at the same time. Thanks for sharing your trip! Take it easy and congratulations on your accomplishment! 👍
I’ve consumed a bunch of thru hike video material, and I would have to agree, this is well done and worth the time investment. Well done sir! Great footage, supported by excellent commentary!
I made it through to the end. I don't have a job to quit, just passing time in winter waiting for hiking season to begin. I loved your video. It did not seem like 3 hours at all. It was great all the way through. I'm so happy you made it before the weather really got bad. I remember that year driving through the Dixie fire smoke. Horrible.
Thanks for your Service, 76, former active duty marine, 76, never had the chance for a thru hike but do a lot of section hiking. Pinhoti BMT. AT El Camino. Enjoyed your take on the adventure. Peace
Congratulations on your epic journey and epic film!!!! Thoroughly enjoyed everything of your story! So so happy for you! Your last day's push for the border was no less than many's summit stories from Mt Everest....and you did it!!! You sure earned your satisfaction for your effort!!! Congratulations!!!🦘🥰
Thank you for doing this all in one video! I understand why people like to vlog their thru hikes but UA-cam is so saturated now with PCT vlogs that it's hard to sift through it all and find something compelling enough to keep my attention and of quality that's visually pleasing. The terms "film" and "documentary" are also grossly overused on this platform. You used neither in your title but deserve both. Great story telling and editing! I cycled self-supported across Canada in 2022. That was my first long distance trip of any kind. After completing the 8000+km ride, UA-cam started suggesting PCT thru hikes and I got HOOKED! It's going to be a few years of setting my life up for it but I'm 43 now and plan to thru hike the PCT for my 50th birthday! I would do it sooner if I could but think I like the idea of waiting to turn 50 on trail!! I truly enjoyed watching your journey, thank you for the inspiration!
Came across your video while binge watching some crime & other documentaries. Just wanted to say this video was so inspiring and so well edited and put together 🏔️❤ I watched your film straight through with a pct trail map on screen.. following you as you went through the journey. I also shed some tears when you went through some SoCal towns bc it brought so many good memories of hikes/camping/road trips i took through Julian, idyllwild, and the many beautiful stops up hwy 395 (the many lakes, bishop, mammoth, devils postpile) etc. All the stops going up 395 is definitely my happy place.
What a really cool documentary to chip away at brother. Really good job walking us all through it. Really impressive feat to endure. 👏🏼👊🏼 The quick shots of your face at the end, and of your feet walking, recapping it all, was really cool.
Great film man! We only started 2 weeks apart, but I don't think I ever got to meet you. I'm glad we got to share the same year and so many similar experiences! - Captain Fantastic
Thanks for making this documentary! I watched the whole thing, with a lot of pleasure! My hiking journey is starting this year. I am going to walk the Kungsleden in Lapland. And I hope that’s just the beginning of more to come! Maybe even the PCT.
Truly epic personal film. Honestly the best PCT film I have seen in terms of conveying the emotions that happen when a member of the tramily, a friend, or relative leaves the trail and the hiker continues on. Also gave a very good feel for the landscape and atmosphere of each of the sections. Yes, I do need to do it. Plan actually is to do my home state of Washington first. I think you were at Trout Lake right after me in 2021--I was there to climb Mt Adams. Ate at the cafe before and after my climb. Saw so many thru hikers. Are your best memories still from the Sierra or did Washington's Cascades supplant them a bit--despite the weather you had to endure? Best of trails to you and on such a meaningful physical, emotional, and soulful achievement.
I love that cafe! As for my PCT hike the Sierras were my favorite because it had the greatest positive emotional impact on me. I didn't grow up around mountains and the first couple years of my adult life I was stationed on a tropical Island so I was just stoked to be in the mountains. If I had started at Canada and hiked south I'm sure the Cascades would have filled that urge just the same. Having been to both now I would just as eagerly want to spend time in either. I really hope you do the whole thing, the experience is primal in all the best ways.
Absolutely loved this documentary !!!! Very inspiring and well done!!! Out of all the videos i have watched hands down the best. I get to do a very short 100 miles come August 2024 section I and J Washington but the whole PCT is a dream that hopefully one day a reality !!
Just quit my job...see you folks on the trail. Thanks Cowboy.

usually i get bored lol i didn't get bored
Like everyone else said great job. I hiked 1900 miles of the PCT in 2022, 4 months later this video brought back so many memories.
