    I had the same problem with no spark, all you have to do is to check stator coil sensor gap (that little black box). If it's more then 1 mm it will not give any spark. I know it is too late, maby you already fix it :D

      Hi, I had spark and it was still not working. I even rebuilt the top end.

      I can't remember if I being honest but I never got it running. Someone had sat it in their garden for years and it was junk when I got it. I could see the effort the original builder put in though with the paint etc. You did a great job mate, but sadly it was neglected for years after you

    I wouldn't worry about that" tool" that bought the bike ! Complaining about little squeaks and rattles on a used motorcycle LMAO 🤣. Tell the guy, to take his happy ass down the road, before you throw in a good ass kicking with the deal 🤕 LOL . IDK I would start with the CDI , I seen the spark yesterday ? I wouldn't give up ,sounded like it was going run. Thanks for posting my friend 🏍👍

      Lol.
      Yeh I saw the spark however if you watch that vid again you will see that it sparks at first then stops even though I'm still connected with the battery. So I think something blew. Probably the cdi.

      @@motorcyclerescuerDNA is a sweet looking bike though ! That's the first one I've seen . I looked on UA-cam & seen restoration vids on the Gilera. Good luck on getting it running ! Hopefully you can save it . Be a shame to part the DNA ! I understand something can be to far gone . You can sell the parts to recoup some of your $$ .

    What was that buzzing/clicking sound when you turned the key on with car battery for the first time?
    Was that the red valve self testing ( my tzr use to do that).

      It's shocking isn't it that loom. I can tidy it up as long as the bike starts.
      I doubt it has a power valve, I think it's just the clocks setting that noise.

    As if the guy said he was going to the police what an actual Knob 😂 mate people gotta realise when u buy a bike privately it comes with no Warrenty that bike could be running the best it ever has but 1 month later anything can happen it’s one of those things u can’t control anyways wicked video Charlie mate !!

    nice vid! i boight a dna 50cc from 2001. it was stolen but returned to the owner by the police in 2017 and has stood sinxe then until i bought it now in 2024. as the thieves destroyed the locks etc i have replaced the key lock and keys. also the immobilizer is missing but i do have a spark. I guess if the immobilizer would be active u would not have a spark? If so, could kt be an ignition timing issue? how do i set the timing on the DNA? Via the flywheel?

    • @motorcyclerescuer
      @motorcyclerescuer  6 місяців тому +2

      Hi, it's a 2 stroke 50cc so won't have a timing issue. It dosnt have timing.
      I'm guessing that your thinking about spark and is it sparking at the right time?
      This is controlled in the stator, a magnet sends a message to the coil and the coil shoots spark.
      So whatever your issues are it's unlikely to be spark related I think.
      You may have low compression on the top end caused by bad or seized piston rings.
      You may have leaking crank seals on the bottom end which can dry up and stop sealing, this causes lack of starting or bad running.
      And of course other potential issues I.e bad carb or carb needing cleaning etc.
      Have you tried spraying something flammable through the carb like easy start?

    • @flyingdutchmanSimon
      @flyingdutchmanSimon 6 місяців тому +1

      @@motorcyclerescuer thanks a lot! i discovered there is an immobilizer on the bike or at least was. but the spark works it only gets inactive if the green (ignition) and black (ground) wires are connected so thats solved.
      i think it needs a new top end, its been sitting since 2017...
      The carb i cleaned thoroughly.

    I had a YBR125 and it was a great reliable bike, then one day it wouldn’t start.
    No particular reason.
    Basically did everything and very occasionally I’d see spark at the plug, but not strong.
    Turned out water, rain, had gone down the ignition barrel and it was causing just a partial short so that it wasn’t sparking properly.
    Cleaned it out, WD40 then I’d always put a toy mega block over the ignition switch when I parked it up
    Never happened again.

    • @motorcyclerescuer
      @motorcyclerescuer  3 роки тому +2

      I'll have a look at that Gary, I did a fair amount of wire chasing and cleaning yesterday with no luck. My guess is that the new cdi will resolve the spark issue. Fingers crossed

  • @nitromad1
    @nitromad1 3 роки тому +1

    I’m going to say something is wrong with the starter and it’s not disengaging properly, not sure on spark but most likely a fried cdi. DNAs must be quite sought after now, I haven’t seen one in years. There were a bit crap in its day, a scooter made to look like a bike (and back when gears were actually desirable to have on a bike)

      @@jackanthonypayne9144 yes you definitely can. Cut the wires, if it's 2 wires just twist them together, if it's 3 wires try combining 2 until you get spark back.
