Hugo Weaving really did great with this one (to be fair he does great in all his roles though haha). The face of an actor or actress is _very_ important for portraying emotion and playing a character. In this movie we NEVER see V's real face, so we never see Hugo's, yet we are able to feel V's emotion, listen closely to every word he says, and overall understand why he did what he did even if we may not completely agree with how he did it. Hugo Weavings voice and gestures were THAT powerful. And in my opinion the smooth, dramatic voice he used was perfect for the character.

@@Gris00 that's why people say that shows like Terminator and V for Vendetta aren't movies, they're warnings. but people love to act, but never think about the possible consequences of the consequences of said act. in this case, the "act" is not acting at all, and the consequence will be the destruction of society which we're seeing this very moment.
It was looked down on by critics because it's an inferior adaptation of some truly masterful source material. The V for Vendetta comic is far better than this film.

V's voice in the bishop scene is amazing. He can be so polite and endearing in conversation, but in this particular scene you can feel the brutality in his voice of what he intends to do. No facial expressions needed.

In high school world history class when we were discussing the rise of authoritarian governments in the early 20th century a question we were asked "Would you be willing to give up your freedom for food" I responded no. Still, with increased wisdom, I feel like I was lying to myself because I know that most people would do so anyone who knows anything about history can wholeheartedly agree. I would like to think that I would be better than everyone else now.
