Yep, in that order too! First the wars like WW1, 2, and 'nam. Then the war on "terror" making us fear and attack middle eastern countries (other than Israel). And now the fear of "disease." And Nov 5th is two days after the US election where both sides of politics are fed up with each other so there is very likely going to be an event/civil war regardless of what happens!

I know that this movie gets a lot of criticism for how much it deviates from the source material, especially with how they portrayed V, but as someone who lived through a military dictatorship that lasted 35 years and with effects still felt today, I think that V’s speech about how the citizens complacency and desire for “stability and protection” allowed for the rise of totalitarianism is 100% a still poignant today.
Remember, remember the fifth of November, of gunpowder treason and plot. I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot. Also the accuracy of this today is staggering it's crazy. What a film.

Although more than 16 years old, take away the fictional elements and this movie would be a very accurate documentary of present circumstances. And "if you're looking for the guilty... ...you need only look into a mirror."
Even movies made recently about events from 40 years ago can be relevant. Blackkklansman is about events from the '70s, but it's message is still important today.
movies from years ago? how about shakespearean works from centuries ago; or greek plays from millennia ago. human nature hasn't changed in all that time, so the commentary is still quite relevant.

Captain : Sir... thank you sir!
Major : Good. Now, as tomorrow will be become the first day of different era. I would like to know what's your plan for the years to come.
Captain : Well, sir. For many decades we have been ruled by a oppressive regime that does not allow anything be done except that helping their goal. I think i would help the people finally getting what they wan't, like justice or freedom.
Major : Sure captain
Captain : ... and for you sir?
Major : i would probably retire and spent the rest of my days with my family. I haven't meet them for a very looong time. And i think you can help people get their needs with being in charge in more... civil institution after this, you know, being a young politicians or something...
Captain : sure sir. I always want to know how it feels like being one of the member of the legendary House Of Commons. Norsefires never allowed anyone even their own men entering that building since the first days they control this country. Too good V didn't blew up...
*HOUSE OF COMMONS EXPLODES*
Captain : Well, crap.
I actually think the most underrated writing in this is: While the truncheon might be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth.
This movie resonates even more today than it did in 2005, considering all we've been through, and are still suffering at the hands of our governments.

Years later, that uttering of “I know WHY you did it” still sticks with me
This scene always gives me goosebumps and breaks my heart at the same time. Its why its my favorite movie because of this sole scene.
The best part about this particular scene, is that Finch (the inspector), listens, and thus becomes vulnerable.
"People shouldnt be afraid of their governments, Governments should be afraid of their people."- V for Vendetta
One of the greatest movies ever made.
Remember - the panicked don’t listen - *But the ones who do remain calm, and acknowledge*
V is a man we need today.

It's 2022. And my country isn't the only country where this speech is highly relevant. Curious times.
This film was written by the Wachowskis, the people that wrote the matrix films. And V's dialog really shows that.
Is anyone watching this film after November 5th of 2024.
Remember, remember the fifth of November, of gunpowder treason and plot. I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot. Also the accuracy of this today is staggering it's crazy. What a film.
The voice of Hugo Weaving ! Epic !
V For Vendetta & 1984 warned us of what Britain has become in 2024.

"If you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease, there were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you."
2020 in a nutshell.
Human history in nutshell i'd say.
People staying at home to control the spread of a virus that has killed 120,000 in the UK =/= people accepting a tyrannical authoritarian government. Trying to reduce the spread of a virus to prevent death and suffering on a horrific scale does not demonstrate a lack of common sense. It demonstrates understanding that we are in a crisis that will very soon be over. In a few months it will become evident all you doomsayers were completely wrong. What will you do then?

Isn’t it funny how movies from years ago can be so relevant in todays time?
Even movies made recently about events from 40 years ago can be relevant. Blackkklansman is about events from the '70s, but it's message is still important today.
movies from years ago? how about shakespearean works from centuries ago; or greek plays from millennia ago. human nature hasn't changed in all that time, so the commentary is still quite relevant.
