Just a quick note. Live Free Armory makes everything except for screws and springs inhouse, Meaning the Apollo 11 has zero MIM parts, witch is kind of crazy.
Legend has it if the 3D grip is not working or is to ones liking, one can send Springfield armory an Email and get a prodigy grip for $40, then *BOOM* a non MIM USA made compact 2011 for a smidge over 1k ($979 MSRP + $40 grip = $1019)

I called them to confirm internals due to a lot of internet back & forth about the MIM. One of their techs told me there is zero mim. He said because they’re primarily a CNC company, they now machine all the parts. Springs and the grip are outsourced. This is a fantastic value.

Went to the fun store and they had the Apollo 11 which seemed like a good bang for the buck. Went ahead and made the purchase and immediately walked it into their indoor range with 150rnds to shoot. Had about 7 failures and I could feel the slide get sluggish as the gun got dirty. I ran it without cleaning and just the lube that came with the gun so I could get a good feel for how the gun would run with minimal care and prepping it for the usual “break-in” process.
Took it home and cleaned it with the CLP that came with it and didn’t use any of my better product. The slide feels a lot smoother and less gritty after giving it some love. The gun has been failure free in the 500rnds after the first cleaning. I was able to notice a difference in the slide feel of my gray cerakoted finish vs the black cerakote finish model. Seems like the hardening on the black cerakote gives it a more buttery feel on the slide action and I am assuming that would’ve helped when the gun got dirty on the first trip.
    Let’s see how it goes.

@@Catgat37 Hi! Have put about another 400rds and it seems to have broken in pretty good. I’m used to a normal 1911 style so feeling how the slide loosens up as I it ages, makes me feel a little “hmm”🤔 about the gun. For practical reasons, it is a great shooter and should be good for a shooter that likes to modify and tinker with the gun. I believe it is a solid base to build upon and gain experience for the platform and while you accumulate 2011 accessories (since the majority gear works with each other models). I shoot multiple platforms so dumping all my funds into an expensive 2011 wasn’t the plan but I am happy that I got lucky with the brand since I thought things started with Staccato and then up from there and didn’t think the cheaper ones were reliable. I you’re going to buy a one-and-only 2011 and don’t shoot too many other platforms, then this isn’t it. Save a few bucks and get a higher grade tool that offers all features. But objectively, the Apollo works.

EPS full size would be about the biggest window you can get in the RMS-c footprint, and bonus points for enclosed emitter. That's roughly the same window size as an RMR, FYI.
Looks like it might be amenable to a modest "v" porting job thanks to the speed holes on the front of the slide.
And I wouldn't worry too much about the grip being printed, the 3D2A guys are getting some serious durability out of nylon carbon fiber and nylon glass fiber for entire frames and lowers, dealing with a lot more stress than just the grip and trigger guard.

This Apollo 11 seems to be at the P226 league (33oz) even for the compact version. It should help a ton with recoil, but man, that's kind of heavy for a compact pistol when loaded.

I have the Apollo 11 Compact FDE. Right out of the box, the safeties are extremely hard to engage, had three light primer strikes on good quality ammo, hammer follow, and Trouble ejecting magazines. The good news is that it shoots great and the only actual feeding issues i had was on Last Round with SA Prodigy mags and it wouldn't lock back after last shot fired with them either.
Sending the gun off to Skips Guns to have change the internals and fit Wilson Combat Bullet Proof Ambies on it. I would normally do all this myself, but 80 hours a week doesn't allow me play time with my kids never mind play time on hobbies.

As someone that owns multiple 3d printers just know that this type of 3d printing is likely SLS or some “proprietary” version of SLS that is literally just SLS but **fancy** or even if not proprietary is just a a little different. For instance DMLS is basically the same process but it’s way more expensive and uses a more powerful laser and uses metal instead of polymers (that’s all way over simplified but this already too long) and DMLS is what is used to print metal suppressors typically but anyway point is those style industrial printers and most industrial printers are very larger often multi process (multiple different machines not just the printer) high end types of 3d printers/systems that generally start in the lowish 10s of thousands and easily go into the hundreds of thousands so yeah its tough and strong assuming it’s done right and depending on the materials and all that (3d printing of any type is very complex and can easily be screwed up be you’ll know it when it happens generally) but before someone goes out and buys a “normal” 3d printer just know that while you can get a good printer for a couple hundred and the (arguably) best ones on the consumer side can be had for around $2k there’s a massive difference between those and the stuff these guys use and a even bigger learning curve (just join some 3d printer groups to watch the pain, it took me hundreds of hours just to half ass know what I was doing) and even then it’ll be hard to match that quality and durability, if you want to go that route though SLA/DLP would be the best way but I never use mine cause its a pain in the ass and smells like a used burning rubber or burning used rubber or whatever I’m not English enough to make that joke but point is it stink and is a pain to work with so Google and UA-cam it before anyone buys anything. MakersMuse is a decent place to start and do not rely on Amazon reviews to decide on what to buy, the 3d printing world is plagued with the nerd equivalent of Fudds that review things they don’t know how to use

I wish I would've gotten the platty instead of the Apollo compact....FTF (failure to feed), LPS (light primer strikes), dead trigger as in pull the trigger and no bang...Keep pulling the trigger, push here push there and sometimes it'll fire. Drop the mag to clear a failure and mag drops plus 1 extra round drops from somewhere.
I put 500 very difficult rounds through it. Sometimes 6-7 failures in 1 mag....Using 3 LFA branded mags and 1 Checkmate branded mag. I had a 30% failure rate in the 500 rounds. I took detailed pics, labeling the mags, with about 6 different brands of ammo in 115 and 124 and sent the Apollo back to LFA. They've had it for going on 3 wks.
There has been a LOT of issues with the compact from what I've read/seen. I know there were issues with the full size but hoped after a year, the compact would not have the problems that the FS had.

I can't get mine to run suppressed. I've actually tried fitting multiple threaded barrels, different spring weights, etc...and nothing has worked so far. I'll keep trying to work out the issue, and hopefully get it figured out. Mine has some other issues that I need to address as well, like the crazy amount of play in the thumb safety, and the grip safety will not disengage unless you put a death grip on it. The slide to frame fit on mine is absolutly horrible. Mine did not have recoil lugs in the optic cut and my EPS Carry came loose even with loctite. So needless to say, I need to do some work on mine. I like the fact that it's USA made, but I wish this thing was built as nice and shot as good as my Tisas NightStalker DS and Prodigy, both of which run 100% when suppressed. I've got 2 Platypus', and I'm sorry to say that the Apollo 11 isn't even close to being in the same class.

You write that you are a bodybuilder but wonder how someone else does the same thing…? I suspect he lifts weights and eats well.

The Apollo 11 in my experience with both the compact and full sized don’t come close to the prodigy, I have all 3. I have sooo many issues with both of my Apollo 11 but zero with the prodigy.
I RMA’d the full size and they sent it back doing the same thing. The grip is the worst…. This video really makes me question the channel ….

    Not gonna buy a 2011 from a company that couldn’t make a Glock Gen3 clone work…

I REALLY dont understand the 2011 craze it is a gun that shots 9mm out of a double stack magazine wow who knew ? I guess I am just a old guy but to me if it is a 1911 it shots .45 otherwise what's the point ? Either way if I am paying over a grand for a 1911 I am getting a REALLY good 1911 not a ok 2011 in 9mm !
