NASCLA Building Contractor Exam Prep Experience

- I took the exam to be a general contractor here in NC. I was surprised how little information there is with people's experiences. I hope others find this helpful. #NASCLA

Do you have a breakdown of all the books you took in with you to pass? If so can I email you this question if you do not feel like sharing in the comments?
I got all the books and steel fell. And it was the contracting that feel me Just need to bring that up a few more points and I think I'll have it.
Yes. Almost half of the questions are about project management and business.
That’s odd I was able to bring a calculator!
@@artisanalfloors really? In both locations I went they only let people use their calculator. And their stupid soft blue pencils
@@katychavezattorney1249 Yes I had the ability to use a contractors calculator. It has the ability to get dimensions/volume/area calculations automatically. Do you think this is a change since psi has been sold to another company.
Have you retaken the NASCLA exam yet and if so how did you do?
I passed. I got 86 right and used 7 books.
Do you have any background experience in building or general Contracting?
I am familiar with home improvement work, and I owned an old house in Jersey that I had to do a lot of work on. But really the exam is about codes and project management. The project management stuff is not intuitive and i would not have gotten any of it right without the books. The code stuff I knew in general but the questions absolutely require looking up specific numbers regardless of how much experience you have.
@@katychavezattorney1249 I'm shocked how much of this is test taking and referencing.
Did you get the results immediately after taking the exam?
Yes, the results are immediate. If you do not pass they give you a printout with how many were correct in each subject area. If you do pass the breakdown shows on the screen but once you close it they cannot tell you what they were, only that you passed.

Do you think that this study guide that you are showing at the end of the video, will help me practice for this exam? Did you take this same exam with the speciality at the same time all together at once? I’m taking my exam at a PSI Location and they also offer practice test but I think they cost a lot more money and give fewer questions. Thank you very much for everything..!!!
