    It's nice to see Kobalt making corrections/upgrades on their tools based on feedback. Hopefully that dampener on the back end will help prevent batteries getting stuck. I'm on my third gen 1 multi tool because the batteries kept getting stuck on them.

    I am debating if I should get this. I need one strictly for drywall use and just keep my other oscillating tools for fine work. I have been keeping an eye on that head as I think the Flex depth attachment might be compatible with it. Edit: I finally received this and have been using it for the past 2 days doing teardowns and this is by far the best oscillating tool I have used that uses variable trigger. I own the Flex and the Milwaukee Fuel versions and I have to say this is my favorite so far (I hate to say it, but that's how I feel about the tool).

    At this point I'm convinced you work for Kobalt 🤪All of the new tools still say "Out of stock" at my Lowes. Guess you'll be the first to review the nailer when its released. Looks like they modeled this after the Skil and Flex Oscillating tools. Another great video!

    I don't know the engineering behind the OPMs, but it seems gen 2 has less opm compared to the gen 1. In turn, it has a greater angle degree of 3.6 as opposed to 1.8 with gen 1. They did something similar with Skil where the brushless 18v had 17K OPM and 12v with 18K OPM.

    • @R.Es1
      @R.Es1 8 місяців тому

      From what I've read elsewhere multiple times, Skil owns Kobalt. I might have to pick up one of these though.

    • @ProxyFinal

      @@R.Es1 for me, the Skil 18v is underpowered, but the Kobalt performs well. I also prefer Chervon’s isolation system over the Milwaukee’s anti vibration. I love the Milwaukee when I need to do aggressive cuts, but prefer the Chervon’s for better control over my work piece.

    You mentioned the two radios at the beginning of the video. The gen 1 isn't actually a radio, its just a bluetooth speaker. Might be why both are still shown.

    • @OnTheWorkbench
      @OnTheWorkbench  2 роки тому

      The leak of this tool (gen 2 multi tool) was on the jobsite radio box, which also showed the gen 1 multi tool. The jobsite radio does not supercede the stand alone bluetooth speaker.

      Depends on how valuable you find the vibration reducing head, variable speed trigger, and ability to use star lock blades.

    when are you going to show us that 8.0 battery in action. Their 4.0 UO battery is not very good with demanding tasks. Wished Kobalt/Chervon did something about it. I am also starting to think they are not very good in colder climates as I left my EGO batteries out in the cold and it's giving me the blinking that something is wrong despite being fully charged. I do want to pick up an 8.0 just for the miter saw since I already have 2 6.0s for it.

      I’m debating between this, the dewalt Xr, or the new craftsman brushless multitool ($119 bogo starter kit at lowes).

    • @OnTheWorkbench
      @OnTheWorkbench  2 роки тому

      The Craftsman and DeWalt both have a quick release squeeze lever for blade change, but neither works with Starlock blades unless you get an adapter kit. Both of these brands also have a belt hook too. The DeWalt has a speed selection switch and optional depth stop accessory; the Craftsman RP has neither; the new Kobalt has a vibration reducing independent head and 3 speed mode settings, but lacks a depth stop and belt hook. It is a matter of what features (and price) make the most sense to you.

    • @OnTheWorkbench

      The real gem of the Kobalt platform is that it has one of the best value propositions for batteries. I'd guess that at some point there might be an on-line only version that is tool (and blade assortment) only, but the cost difference for getting another battery and combining it with one of the various sales the Lowes makes this almost a push at the end of the day. The real issue is ending up with a 5 gallon bucket full of extra chargers after a while.

      @@OnTheWorkbench thanks for the reply. I really do like the Kobalt multitool and hopefully this new version fixes the issue I’ve read about where the battery gets stuck on the tool and requires a warranty exchange. I think Kobalt tools are very underrated and I’m glad to see that they’re given a spotlight on your channel.
      One more question- do you know who currently manufactures the battery cells used in the Kobalt batteries? I’ve heard that it was Samsung, but that there was a recent change and now the cells being used are from High Star (?) so the quality may not be what it used to. Not sure if there is any validity to that claim though.
