Great vid. I actually read a summary of this novel first..then read it twice back to back. I enjoyed both lolita and pale fire much more the *second* time around (Nabokov was a genius)
Hahaha, “Don’t be like Kinbote!” I had just passed the word “lemniscate” in the book when I listened to your review! Thanks for the perspective on a great book so far.
I loved this video! I'm reading this book for class, and I knew nothing about it but now this small lecture got me very excited. I can't wait to start it. With the OED right by my side!
Nabokov's the magician who can pull
Another Nabokov out of his hat.
“Don’t be like Kinbote.” I think that’s just good life advice in general
Thanks Professor Marino, I came across these by accident and love them. Thanks

I’m not so sure about N. as a post-modernist. He’s like Sondheim. He almost belongs in his own category.
Especially useful is your insight into reading ALL of the novel not just the commentary which I did to my chagrin first time around

Loved this and it seems like more people should be mindful of words and their meanings, as it has a way of changing entire world views
The sad thing is that I trust Kimbote's version of events...more than I trusted Humberts version of events.
(But both of them were bat sh*t crazy 😂)
Great introduction to this novel! You deserve more views
Glad you enjoyed it!
