Weird story - just before this album came out in the house i was sharing they had an answer machine where u recorded a greeting so people could leave a message to, but i chose to record a clip from the movie "Aliens" where Sigourney Weaver/Ripley (spoiler) gets into an exo-skeleton loader and says to the Alien Queen, "Get away from her you B*tch!". I was also doing some of my own remixes using tape to tape and editing track together, and i used the "b*tch" as a sort of punctuation sample to join two different tracks together. Then months later this came out and there was this moment where Madge is doing something similar, it's pure coincidence of course but it was spooky.
Some nice sonic "sketches" by Shep here, as I said before, he's not a composer or song writer in the classic sense but more of a soundscape painter, using sound, rhythm and voices to create a bed to plant the rest of the song onto
But at the same time, this album used the original demos for most the album in the final product. What you hear in the final product in most of the songs was the originals demos conceived in Shep appartment with mostly just few overdubs, backing vocal adding and few arrangements changes, that's it.
@@WCD199317 that's cool to know. You can definitely hear some of the break beats or keyboard sounds he used in remixes he did for other artists. I was thinking of one in particular called "Sittin in the Lap of Luxury" by Louis Louis, and "Alright" by Janet Jackson - the dub versions show most of what Shep added to the track and some of the sounds and beats cross pollinate here
Not sure if this is from a real life experience, or addressed to someone she knows or even a nod to how she herself behaves? I remember a scene in the "Truth or Dare" documentary/movie when Madonna is invited by to a party by director Pedro Almodóvar and Spanish actor Antonio Banderas is there Madonna flirts with him and basically wanted him, but as Madonna puts it "there was one little problem... His wife!" In the end he goes home with his wife, and even though Madonna is dating Warren Beatty she is still really p!$$ed off
@MarvinGuatemalanBoy According to the Encylopedia Madonnica, Thief of Hearts could have been addressed either to Robin Wright who was married to Sean Penn at the time and as we all know Madonna in several occasions has said that he's been the love of her life. Or it could have been addressed to Annette Bening who got paired with Warren Beatty but there's nothing confirmed by Madonna herself in terms who was her source of inspiration for this song.
Apparently my previous reaction got deleted?? So here it is again, I'll keep it short then: love this track!!
Highly recommend listening to the demo with the original ending that interpolates “If I Had A Hammer” in a very violent manner.
The walking in and out of the frame is such a mood. 😂
Una de las mejores canciones de ese álbum.
Hell hath no fury than Madge scorned

If he can make this wench sound passable, then the guy must be super talented. Chapeau Shep!
