Hey Eric, quick tip in case you do more videos like this in the future and the bot doesn't want to play the opening you want: you can set up any position in an analysis board and click the "practice vs computer" button in the bottom right. Then you can select any bot to play against with the "change bot" button at the bottom. This is really nice if you want to play/practice a specific opening or try some new lines (I use it to practice my favorite gambit, the Nakhmanson). Hope this helps and great vid as always!

@@noahcoll8785 Black would still play Qh3, which threatens the f3 pawn and leads to a quicker forced mate. Qe2, Qf1 or Rg1 all lose. Bf3 is a move that many will try and replicate but of course it only works if you have checked all the combinations.
Apparently the defense against Bf3 is to accept the sacrifice and after ...21.Qh3 you give back the bishop with 22.Bg5! Rxg5 23.Rg1. f3 is now defended because the bishop on e3 was removed, so the white Queen guards it. If ...23. Rh5 you defend with 24.Rg2 - The first 10 moves have been played twice on Lichess so far but in both cases white played 11.c5 instead of 11.e5xf6 and went on to win the game in both cases.
On move 27, bishop takes rook and checks; if the king just moves next to the queen, bishop takes queen and check with rook, king can only go back into corner and check mate with queen to f3; if the queen takes bishop, queen takes queen and check mate
Technically, you missed a variation after bishop takes rook, Kg1, Bxf1, where white can take the rook with the knight - but this leads to a checkmate in one anyway. I'd also suggest for Bxg2 Kg1 Bxf3, as this forces white to play Qg2 and Black wins with Qxg2#

@@jensino Well I think Hikaru employed a well known approach against engines which is to hunker down and get a closed position, and force the engine to make dubious moves for "progress". You can see in the game he played they had a pretty locked structure. So I don't think the bot really adapted to that.

King to g1 (if queen takes, it's just faster). Bishop takes queen on f1, with discovery check from the rook. White can capture the rook with her knight or step aside with the king, but queen to g2 seals the deal either way.
Later I learned that Stockfish 14+ on Lichess actually prefers the bishop to capture knight, but to me, my intuitive idea seems more poetic. White has three options. Capture with knight, block with knight, move the king. So, they have such an absolute freedom there. But the next move, black can just move queen to g2 regardless, and it's checkmate.
Amazingly, I saw the whole sequence: Qh3, Qf1, Rxg2, Rxg2, Bd6, cxd6, Rg8. Not sure how, I feel that puzzle should be quite a bit beyond my usual level as a 2000 Lichess scrub (1700ish intermediate by the standards of other sites). Guess I always look for tactics where a rook sacrifices itself to be replaced by the other rook when there is a pin, because of that one time Morphy did it.
