So happy to see you back at it and posting. Your not the only one with a boat and a commitment. Watching your video helps the others like me keep putting one foot in front of the other and keep moving on with our projects.
Рад видеть ваше возвращение. Спасибо, что не бросили кораблик! Дополню, что благодаря в том числе и вашему каналу я набрался смелости и купил старую парусную лодку
If it wasn't for the pictures of how big your beautiful children are I wouldn't believe it's been so long! Happy that you're back and that the family looks happy as well. Welcome back.
EXCELLENT to see you having the time and inclination to getting back to your Idler!!! I agree that building a "proper" boatshed will be well worth the effort. Good working conditions will engender and influence your enthusiasm for the project. Mucking about in the elements and mud are not conducive to furthering your project. I have missed your posts, which are always a tremendous learning experience for me! WELCOME BACK!!!! 👍😁👍
Wow! Your too kind! Thank you so much for you support and kind words! Your absolutely right. Theres only somany soaked through coveralls that one can handle! 🤣🤣
Good to see you back at it. It’s hard to maintain momentum on a big project like this, especially when life tends to get in the way. Hope to see more progress soon. 👍
Thank you so much, it sure is. But my family are wonderful and my wife is fantastically supportive. which helps! but there is only so much that can be done with a new born rolling around the floor! HAHA
Good idea! i hadnt thought about that as she feels pretty solid under me. but Excellent idea, as if there is an imbalance somewhere with the supports this could well translate through. Thank you!
Thankyou for Repairing a fine litter ship I'm glad there are people like you who Sadly see a lot of these fine ships who no fault of their own have been left to rot .your space by the Shed and those trees remind me of Leo,s Tally Ho when he was at the farm when Tally Ho was in a very sorry state to what she is now and your doing just the same kind of work all the best from New Zealand
Glad your back! Great seeing you having fun with your children they must be a real joy. Don’t be discouraged with the boat reviving project look how far you have come not how far you must go. I have a small 16 ft Wayfarer that I did a refit and it took me much longer and cost way more than I expected. The results were great and justified the work. Your effort will be the same.
Great to see you back... I have many of what I call "domino projects", projects which don't seem to be important and aren't much fun, but which enable other domino stones to fall giving suddenly the space and time to do the important and enjoyable jobs... Your "boat house" seems to be one of these... Again, great to see you again...
Hey, it made my day to see you back - know it can't be easy with young family and all and Idler herself looks to have advanced well and with beautiful symmetry, well done :-)))
Good to see you caring on. Sustaining the momentum is the hardest part . Jobs , family ,chores ,all make fixing the boat go to the bottom of the list, but at least yy dare putting new wood in,which is huge. Keep up the adventure!
@@BothanboatsIdler Good on you! I have just begun putting a shed-tent over a very old boat the I have only had for a short 22 years. A friend called the condition being boatstruck. I fear in maybe incurable. But as Churchill said,” when your going through hell, keep going”.
Ah man, great to see yourself and idler again! And lovely to see that - well, it seems a bit kind of intrusive or familia to say, but lovely to see yourself and your family looking well and happy. Good on ya, and again, good to see you. :)
Ah now - Well Susanna is about to be transported to the new yard/sailing club just around the corner from my house. In the meantime i've been fixing up another old wooden yacht so i can learn to sail and restore Susanna in a calmer, and hopefully, more quality way. Almost ready to launch her. :)) I hope your new work area is working out well! Cheers!
New subscriber - great descriptions. I’ve reviewed several of your videos and have to admire the perseverance. I sail a modern 35’ Catalina and also have recently recovered two (2) Wenaumet Kitten 13.5’ wooden catboats (1939, 1950) designed and built by my great-grandfather. Although both are packed tightly in my dry garage, I’ll need to construct a proper workspace in order to move forward. - SV Free Spirit - Tarpon Springs Florida
Great to see you back. As a working guy with 3 kids and a burning desire to build or restore a big wooden boat (I haven't started yet), I totally get how life, finances, and the utter nonsense of the world can put the brakes on a project.
Thank you, it sure is a massive stressful, and expensive juggle! I hope you find the chance to start your own project. When you get a good day. My goodness its a good day! :D
Great to get an update! I didn't realize you had such a small work area. It is hard enough to make the time to work on a project but it is even harder if the work environment has issues. Hopefully the new extension will help. I just finished a big "refactor" of my shop and added an extension as well. It has made a huge difference.
haha, yea. it wasnt much of a problem as i didnt need to be outside of the boat much. but as i get finished with the Framing. ill need to be outside a lot working on the keel and stem posts and then the planking as well. Ill need the space and a dry floor to sit on. Its really something i should have considered sooner... hind sight n all that! :D
Welcome back! Great to see you posting again - what a beautiful family you have. Quick question - have you tried templating using foam panels that you can but at home improvement stores? You can either laminate them together and cut to fit or fit them individually then laminate them together. Just a thought - keep up the great work!
So good to hear you’ve got back to Idler.... as father and grandfather I understand the pressures ...... but you’ll get there..... is there a case for asking for volunteers to help with heavy work/landscaping? After all it’s a beautiful part of the world! Best wishes from ☘️👍👨🏻👌
Hey, Sorry! i had used a tool that should have dipped the background music when i spoke. But it obviously didn't do it enough. ill dial it up on the next videos!

I’m happy to join everyone else in welcoming you back to UA-cam
Thank you! :D
Maybe your movement in the boat when trying to fit the floors racks the hull and changes things.

Its a wonderful Rodeo to be sure! and i console my self that one day they will have her and remember the work they did on her as children themselves.
Glad you are back but when you are talking could you stop the music please?
Hey, Sorry! i had used a tool that should have dipped the background music when i spoke. But it obviously didn't do it enough. ill dial it up on the next videos!
I don't know which is harder building from scratch or rebuilding?
Haha! Definitely rebuilding! If i had my time again, id take the lines off her and build as if from new. Recycling old wood where possible!
Hi just recognised Elie harbour. Im local to the East Neuk and would love to lend a hand if that’s something you would be interested in lmk?
