Easy start…. I haven’t heard of that for years. I got my first Dyane when I was 11 then a 2cv when I was 12. I can’t tell you how many cans of easy start me and my dad went through. Nearly cried when they finally fired up. Cheers for bringing back good memories 👍
Well done to Scotty for helping you out this year
Give the mags to hubhut channel 👍 he’d love all those to flick through.
Great to see this old classic running, can't weait to see more. Keep this up and you'll make Hubnut jealous
I was behind a Citroen 2cv van in the traffic jam to enter the 2021 festival of the unexceptional this year, cracking looking van
Watching this reminds me of the Pink Panther film with Peter Sellers , Keep away from swimming pools !! 🤣
Awesome! You should get it sign written as Chops Garage, but in a distressed way so it’s in keeping 👍🏻
That's the plan!
Or...a very modern font and vibrant colors for contrast, ultramodern style to catch/jar/assault the onlooker's eye! Or...changeable signs, different for any occasion.
Had a Dyane in 1971. My first new car. You had to keep the plugs A1 or they would get harder and harder to start. But brilliant little car. I’d love another
Brake cleaner is ideal for starting up old cars -give it a blast before cranking and then keep giving it a blast as the engine begins to starve.
Great, love the A range Citroens. More videos of the progress with it please.
More to come!
Only found your channel about a week ago, and today the Citroën Acadiane video. I have an Acadiane too, I hope you kept it. They are brilliant vans, capable of running flat out all day everyday, going off roading, and lugging stuff! Drive it like a motorcycle lean in to the corners and rev the dickens out of them, they love it.
I have owned many 2CV's & Dyanes, brilliant cars & great fun to drive, that one sounds good, well worth restoring & definitely a keeper!
Ran really well
I have a couple of spiders that reside in my Citroen work van, they are great company. I’ll bring it over sometime so you can take it for a test drive 😆.
Wow this is awesome! I know fellow UA-camr Hub Nut has a strong presence in the 2CV community and would love to see this. Also has good knowledge of where to get parts. If you’re stuck with something to do with those magazines I know he’d appreciate one or two.
Very cool! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Daniel!
@@ChopsGarage don’t chuck the 2cv books or magazines away give them to hubnut he would be very happy!
Shop van? It’s definitely iconic.. nice work.
Classic
Would make a great car camper conversion. HubNut would be jealous. 🏴🚙
Well done. You need to replace all the rubber fuel lines with Ethanol resistant ones.
Hi James congratulations on reaching 24,000 subscribers and well done for all your hard work this year
Thank you very much!
I date the booklet to 1943/4 - one advert refers to looking forward to lit streets coming back and another filters for your postwar car.
Super cool
All 2CV’s are fun and sound so good !
I have never had any luck with the floor sealant/paint system, it never seems to bond 🤔
Yes pants, going to go without the sealant next time
@@ChopsGarage so why do they recommend sealant ? (is dilute PVA any good / wall stablising solution ?
Great vehicle, so cool. Just the thing for trips to the beach, just chuck the dog and everything else in the back!!
Brilliant - it’s a runner and a driver!! Now you know it’s worth putting a bit of work into it. What a fun promotional vehicle it will make for Chops Garage!! Nice one!!
Absolutely
When I bought my Dyane it hadn't run for seven years.the exhaust was a red stain on the concrete.gallon of fuel in the tank and some fuel in the carb.10 minutes later it was running👍
tough old lumps
The quirky citroen could be your company van for parts pick up keep the patina but have chops garage signwritten on the side
Chops Garage is just his you tube channel name , not his Business Name
Nice different content James, i enjoyed that.
Thanks for all the vids in 21, keep up the good work in 22 mate.
Happy new year.
Thanks, you too!
I have a 2cv Bamboo great fun a van is on my list to have, Well done getting yours going it sounds great.
Beautiful old thing. Yes I know I'm odd but love old Citroen's
Hahaha proper Delboy moment with the doors popping open!!! Lovely looking van mate!
Thanks 👍
Very good! Inspiring to me, the owner of a 5 cylinder 4 wheeled 3 speed automatic transmission, 2 badged Dodge Sprinter 2500SHC manufactured by the singular truck maker Freightliner and powered by a Mercedes Benz diesel non-running van, that will be motorvating "real soon now"...
Sounds fun!
Lovely little car, I'd love one of those
The book is late 50s , I've got about 6 boxes of old car books I've collected over the years , I know I'm sad 😆
Hi James, get the van sign written, but do it in a faded style.that would look pretty sick, then go to a few shows to promote your chanel 😉
Always use PF Jones for bars, balls electrics etc. Top quality advice and great prices! Continue your great videos, onward and upward! Happy New Year!
Thanks Chris, have a great new year
I have one of these and a Mehari, great fun and really practical classics to get into, cheap to run and wonderfully quirky
Cool collection!
Good job James you just made it go up in value 👍
I think so!
That’s a knacky wee van, I love it
Cool isn't it
@@ChopsGarage some retro signage on it once you get it on the road would look great
You're having way to much fun to be working 🤣
I am!
Great refreshing video, good to see you get it running, that body roll made me laugh
I've got one of them old books on how two fix cars 1 shilling and six pence, think its 1940 or 50s it should have a print date on it, you should keep the old citroen and get it sign written up, 👍
REMINDS ME WHEN I HAD A 2CV THE IGNITION SWITCH BROKE AND I REPLACED IT WITH TWO SWITCHES ONE FOR THE IGMITION AND ONE FOR THE STARTER MOTOR. WHAT BRAKES HAS IT GOT? INBOARD DISCS, SMALL DRUM OR LARGE DRUM BREKES?
Brilliant little car!
I love it
Price is 1 shilling and sixpence, so it's definitely before decimalisation.
The book price is in pre decimal, 1 shilling and 6 pence, that's 7 and a half pence in new money!
cheers
Sweet that you got it running. Is the paint a two part epoxy? Should be tough as nails. Probably worth putting a rubber matt down as a nightmare to strip and redo..
Well done! Absolutely love that.
Thank you! Cheers!
Great to see one of the older cars running again
Sure is!
That is an awesome motor to be sure, nice find! My advice; DON'T restore it. Do what's needed to pass MOT, and to make it run/drive properly, and that's it. You've already got enough projects, why not just enjoy this one for what it is?
Exactly the plan. Underside will be rust treated and coated then top side lacquered to seal in patina
Southern softies - get a starting handle on it! Great thing to see the old girl alive again
lol, cheers
Good video mate, I was strangely interested, I'd set that lad on he seems handy, avoid easy start if you can it can make the explosion so strong that it compresses the con rod, that'd why diesels that regularly use it won't start without it, probably just blow the 2 cv up tho, like how you nearly said injector cleaner while looking at the carb mate! Van actually looks OK, guy who just bought my fiesta titanium had recently spent 25k on a mgbgt v8, still chipped me a onner tho.
lol, get it all the time. Guys pulls up in 90k Merc to look at £4k car for his daughter tries to chip me 10%!
@@ChopsGarage I know, these increased prices are making it hard, customer still wants a bargain and you can't really do it.
Epic old Citroen, Get Chops Garage down the side of it! Great marketing toy
Great video James, good to see the old girl start. Do you know what year that would be can't tell by the french plates.
Thank you. No not sure
'Dabbing that green wire into various holes?' Spoken like a true Auto Electrician Professional? This could be a new moto for a tea shirt run???
Lol! Yes I left that bit to Scott
Ecas are a good parts supplier put the 2cvgb magazinesin a cg raffle
Brain fade kicked in. It's 7.5p 😥😥
CHOPS.. watch reverse. Overload it or go to fast in reverse and itl "screw" off , locking the shaft.....they r threaded on then centre popped .. easy fix but a pain
Will do mate
Really pleased you for cloud hear it in your voice
Was well happy Ben
Great job simple machine sounds good
Jet to get on road now
Yep thats the plan
Get a sign-writer to add your company name and details on the doors and side in faded lettering, and you've got a "different" delivery van for yourself.
Thats the plan
That’s brilliant you get the engine running I no why would get to running
Great video my word the body roll lol
Hysterical isn't it
Probably laid up because the import duty has not been paid on it.
They don't make 'em like they used to! Definitely needs an electric motor in there though, mate!
Sub me the £30k plus bud lol
@@ChopsGarage Haha! Is there not an old Nissan Leaf 1st generation setup going spare in Chops Garage?
Great job James 👌👌
Cheers Dave
Beautiful
Great video
Thanks!
Woohoo. Result. Maybe it opened the back doors to help de spider itself for you
lol!!
If then one can get it running and driving you can
I have the same acadiane. one question. wich is the code colour?
1/6 = 12.5p .5 was when when we had half pence coins. God how time fly's. 66 in March. See you in the next one. 👍👍
Had one of these about 5-6 years ago with the rarer than very rare hen's teeth folding passenger seat . Seat was way more valuable than the whole car.
Mad how it goes isn't it
Awesome mate. Just Awesome.
Thank you! Cheers!
Its towbar carrot crunchers :)))
Its a dolly and they are hard to roll over if the coils back to front are not shot
Possible
Probably get some proper 2k solid paint, it's the strongest paint going mate, I've not had much luck with floor paint bud.
I did add 2k hardener, might so strong mix next time
@@ChopsGarage 2 k harder won't do anything in non 2k paint bud, problem is 2k solid paints expensive for a floor. Blame the 2 cv for leaking.
There is an old chap living close to me who has a much older one which he keeps in A1 condition and it only appears in good weather - he obviously loves it but to be honest I just do not see the fascination! Hey ho, each to their own😁
Sounds good! What a car!
Ran sweet as
Do a old Landover defender 90 from the 97s
You need epoxy on that floor... bond a few tasty images under a final clear coat too
Hubnut would be proud mate
lol yes he would
@@ChopsGarage cheers
1950s is when that ia from and the price is 1 and six pence my uncle is near 70 so old enough to remember that book LOL
Good job
Got to be the works van?
Keep the Citroen s they are worth ££££ must get my. 2cv on the road again
I think you have your new works van…
Remember a hot 2cv engine likes the throttle on the floor to start it.
Will do
well that ran longer than the motors you sold just a larf
THATS BETTER THAN THE OTHER JUNK YOU SELL :)))))
Yes scotty well done son
Good lad
1 shilling and 6 pence so pre 1971 decimalisation
Cheers
Great vid!!
Thank you!
Happy new year all
Happy new year
There's plenty of rot that will need more than clear-coat or are my eyes deceiving me?
Well that's idea, lock in the surface rust that's the patina I want to preserve
Price of book was 1 shilling and 6 pence 7 1/2 p
cheers
Would have thought you could repaint it and stick your company and UA-cam all over it, use it as mobile advertising
You should put it in for mot as it is, it might pass
Yep on the cards
well done you 2
I've taxed worse. Honestly, a peugeot 405
SORRY THAT IS IGNITION AND BRAKES
Sweet as a nut james
Less of a Mustie1 more of a Hubnut Ian.
