I returned a van with in 2 weeks of owning it, power steering pump went, tried to claim on warranty, warranty company refused due to lack of maintenance, turned out power steering fluid was empty and coolant was full of power steering fluid, it was meant to have had a service. The garage i got it from didnt want to know told me find another garage to fix it, ever garage told me to get rid. Contacted finance company and handed it back, the garage kept moaning they lost 5.5k on this deal with me returning it. But they wouldn't fix it
The Peugeot 2008, i feel like it was a case of not asking enough questions (especially the negative equality) and not looking over paperwork while they were there. They should have also taken the car back with the local Peugeot garage report and kicked up a fuss till things were sorted.
I had a problem with my current car immediately after purchase as it appeared the workshop prep had not been done at all ( Friday afternoon job ), the sales manager jumped into action, wanted a list of the issues & rough cost to rectify and because they were 70 miles away, just sent me the money to fix them, plus extra for the inconvenience. It wasn't like they knocked me down on the px either because they gave me 12% more than anyone else was offering, so I would happily buy from them again even though it went a bit wrong, because there was a sense of fairness.
I'm sorry but I have dealt with warranty companies with cars I have purchased, they are not worth the paper they are printed on. Recently purchased a vehicle which developed a faulty suspension top mount within 2 weeks, dealer wiped their hands of it and said you have to claim through Warranty Wise, Warranty Wise came back to me saying they don't cover any form of Mounts ? So assume that includes engine mounts, top mounts, exhaust mounts etc.
Rings go in those puretechs as well bud, had em smoking and burning oil. Had a 19 plate c3 puretech in and even tho it was OK I had to give it away and blew on it, apparently spark plugs go and drop in the cylinder as well(?)
I bought a year old van from AC, returned it as the roof was leaking in water, i had it checked out, it had been in an accident, not reported or shown up on cv or vs, when I returned it, they said we didn't have to disclose about the body repairs 😮.
I have 1.2 pure tec (3008) 19 plate Bought brand new shes on 22k now had main dealer drop sump when doing fresh service ,mot . All good no issues , i always av oil changed every yr (5k ish ) think thats way forward regular oil ,filters yearly
going out on a limb here but a bearing is sourced from different manufacturers and will be fitted in quite a few cars of various types So at least they compromised but in a court you may well have won the whole cost ,
Warranties I looked at mine basically if you hit the rare jackpot that' it's covered they only pay the first 1000 plus I think I have an excess of a few hundred so for me at least a total waste of 590 quid
I've not heard good things about the pure tec engines. Apparently, it has a wet belt and the belt breaks up over time and bits of the belt blocks oil from getting around the engine and destroys it.
I wouldn't have taken the car from the Peugeot dealer originally without that service paperwork along with it. I would have walked away. Let alone the fact it is the PureTech wetbelt and wouldn't even of event comtemplated buying anything with that engine as a customer. I thnk the new ones have chains now, hopefully they will prove to be better.
I agree that WW should have specific awareness upfront about exclusions made clear on a vehicle type - makes the seller look like a plum and puts everybody in a awkward position, bottom line is they cant be aware of something, not tell anyone, then rely on it later to refuse a claim.... slightly nawty!
Just do your own warranty pot bud, you've had some success with WW but I bet they're in front with what you've paid. I've just got a megane back, needs an injector, I'm just doing it.
Not a fan of the puretech in any form my youngest bought against my advice a 308 nice gt spec good price but at pick up i finally got to inspect the service history and i didnt like the look of the cam belt they wouldnt do it for him as said not enough profit in the deal after the prep it had the sump off recall why they didnt pick up on the poor cam belt condition is beyond me. Son still wanted the car so took it got s new cam belt fitted at £500 plus parts sump off again as garage wanted to be sure the oil pick up was clear as the cam belt was shot. The cars been ok a leaking shock done for the next mot and the fuel pipe to the pump on top of the engine came adrift resulting in a breakdown but s relatively quick fix part was pricy but modern cars tend to have pricy parts. Roll on a couple of months the cars broken down with a misfire not electrical issue ruled out swapped injectors about advice given enfgine swsp its probably a piston ring gone just hope thst warranty we got with the car is worth the paper its written on, if its a new motor required then no foubt there will be a payment to be made on s betterment basis ie new engine in old car we shall see i have an idea its not worth doing on a £5-6k car. So for us no more puretech more goes wrong than just cam belts.
@@ChopsGarage Surely, under the Consumer Rights Act he could reject the car within 30 days because it was faulty, (brakes pulling), not as advertised regarding the service history and possible cam belt failure shortly.
@@RonSeymour1 he took it away knowing history was not there so that's a no go. Belt had not failed but deteriorated which as we know belts do. Until it failed the car would function as intended so no case there. Brakes pulling might be only one.
Of all the makes I've had trouble with Peugeot is at the top, bsi problems when changing battery, 1.4, 1.6 petrol engines, I've had to scrap 207,s with ecu failures, bad 1.2 puretech engines, no top gear on auto boxes, tbh I don't really buy Peugeots.
what does my head in with dealer/ traders they sell cars with no history or missing history with warranty that warranty be void straight away if something failed
Normal warranty claptrap ..warranty wise or warranty direct all do it....well look a car has a engine and gear box ... not covered ...may as well just put that in the list
Your videos always amaze me with their professionalism and depth of treatment of the topic. Thank you for your dedication and passion for creativity!🚕😘🎂
@@ChopsGarage anything that's trouble bud tbh just say thanks but no thanks, you don't need to buy everything that's offered to you, back in the day it was OK to have a punt, but stuff so nasty these days you've got to be so, so careful.
A little tip is just turn down cars with known rubbish engines and auto boxes, cvt, ford one as examples, no puretecs, no eco boost, makes life easier and cheaper bud, plenty of other cars to buy.
So he was in negative equity then decided to buy another car. He then had to spend £1600 on that car for a new belt and service and then decided to sell this one trade and bought a Skoda? Warranty companies are complete BS. Literally designed to find as many ways to avoid satisfying their customers as possible.
i dont understand why did he not tell the dealer he brought it from that he as 6 month consumer rights act if the car was less then 6 months
As I have said previously, you look after your customers, and they will promote you to friends and family. Have a great weekend James.
At least they eventually gave you a contribution towards repair costs but you did have a valid point.
Yes better than nothing
Good luck getting a warranty that covers the Puretech engine in the Peugeout!
? Why it's had new belt

Well I'd say depends on the age and miles of car but as you can see here I'm better off having had it than not
Contact trading standards.
Top mounts , not the dearest parts on a car...sometimes just fix and forget about it ...not worth the calls and stress

No they don't. Because likelihood is anything you buy has had body repair and much of it a dealer may not be aware of themselves
@ChopsGarage they did the repair though.
