- Опубліковано 14 жов 2024
- This is a 60 minute slow flow vinyasa class. Part 1 of the Grounding and Centering Series of classes. A soothing, unhurried flow for the whole body that includes pranayama, a rhythmic and easeful warm up, standing postures with longer holds and some calm hip openers to wind down concluding with a longer shavasana. A class for those times when you may feel scattered, anxious or simply overwhelmed and you need to touch base with your breath and body.
For practice, you may wish to have a blanket for comfort.

I really liked the active pigeon pose. Challenged my lower body towards a more adaptive embodiment. A lovely practice to embrace the breath and root to Mother Earth. Returning to the rest of my day with a steadfast stature and sure footed movements.

Hi! Im curious about you and your channel. Charlie Follows mentioned that she learned with you. I have been learning with her for a year+ before that yogawithadriene. I lost about 80 pounds while doing 365 days of yoga, i finshed that March 6th of 24 and kept going! Ive currently only missed 4 days due to covid. I couldn't. Anyways! I look forward to trying your channel tomorrow. This video
Oh wow! Go you. You must be feeling fantastic? That’s great discipline. May I ask, Where did you hear Charlie mentioned me? That’s kind of her to mention me but we’ve not trained together. Perhaps we just do each others practices online. She’s great. I hope you enjoy the class here on Twobirds Elizabeth. Thanks for your message ❤️🙏
When one does a tree pose variation, does the centreline of your body shift over to the foot that's on the ground. So that your grounded foot is directly under the crotch, and your grounded upper leg holds you up with strength on an angle.
Balance is found when your centre of gravity is balanced over the centre of your support. Your centre of gravity moves as you move your body. To picture this in yoga, use tadasana as an example. The centre of support is the midpoint between your feet directly below your pelvis - roughly where your centre of gravity is. . In tree pose variation where your hips press to the side while bending your body in the opposite direction, then your center of gravity shifts sideways relative to your pelvis.
But you definitely need strength in your standing leg and focus to find that balance. Hope this is of assistance? 😊🙏
@@TwoBirdsYoga Yes, thank you, this does help.
@@TwoBirdsYoga I can change the centre of gravity in relation to my body's centreline by activating muscles. In tree pose, my whole body, as seen from the front, can assume the shape of the letter 'C', or, form something closer to an 'I'. Depending on how I approach the pose.
There are so many places the centre of gravity can be depending on the muscles I activate. In tadasana, the centre of gravity
goes straight up through my navel. In vrksasana, it could literally be anywhere. Centre of gravity is to one side of my navel if I'm keeping straighter, then move to the the other side if I get real bendy.
For example, to achieve a shape close to an 'I', and if my left foot is the ground, I activate ALL the muscles on the outside left of my body, and it straightens me right up. The obliques, the outside muscles of the upper and lower leg, buttocks, shoulder and arms. But it's work. It's intense. And I can't do it for long. But is that the goal? Is that the optimal way to do tree pose, for the long term healthiest result?
Yes, I guess I don't understand. :) Part of me feels like I may just be thinking too much, and just want to hear the sound of my own voice, but another part of me, is very curious if there is an optimal end goal. And if so, figure out what that is now, so I can go for it, rather than mustering my focus and later realizing effort was wasted because my direction was unclear.
Thanks again, if it is too much to reply, I understand. Not every random youtube subscriber can be answered in depth. It quite warmed my heart to hear your initial response, so thanks for that. 🙏
@@GeezerDog you’ve gone down a rabbit hole 😊 the goal, if there is one, in practical terms, is to practice our balance so we can stand, balance and get our jocks/knickers on at 90 😊 avoid falling. The spiritual goal when we practice all limbs of yoga, including asana according to patanjali is "…..the settling of the mind into silence.
When the mind has settied, we are established in our essential nature, which is unbounded consciousness".
Finding balance on the mat and in life is a moving feast.
In response specifically to muscle engagement, if your left foot is your base of support, you do indeed need to activate outer left hip (close the door on the hip) to level your pelvis. It does require some effort. And there’s no downside in activating muscles that help you balance.
Thoughts?
Thanks for asking. Hope it helps ❤️🙏

Also, 'moving feast'. That, I will try to hold dear as well.
