Well it looks like I'm going to busy this evening. Thanks for the ideas Doug. I do have some big Dowell (Mop handle ). I am going to make a Coffee and get started on a few of those Little fellas. I have a great idea for our Christmas dinner table thanks to you.... the Legend that is Doug Linker.
I’ve been carving snowmen until my hands hurt.. my wife loves snowmen so I guess I’ll be carving a few more 😂.. thanks for another great video Doug. 👍🏻
Really nice Doug! I expect to see these flooding the Facebook carving groups in a few days. Simple and fun carvings always go over really well. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!
I truly hope you do really well from these videos Linker? Honestly. First, because you seem like a genuinely decent dude, but also because I have got A LOT from them. You are an asset to the community.
Nice video! And...all Sophies look the same! We can't help but sing because it's such an exciting form of expression! 🎶🎶🎶🎶☺☺ I'm worse because I sing karaoke, I guess? But yes, there are worse!
Doug, you and Alec have been killing it! I mainly powercarve, but in 2023 I am going dive into your channel and learn how to carve with a knife. Thank you for the many years of sharing your skills with the world!
Doug, I love your carvings. They speak volumes to the viewer. I'm particularly fond of the painted ones but you have some unpainted ones that are incredibly vocal.
I think I remember people carving little people out of the old wooden clothes pins. You almost have created what I remember as a kid. I think I even remember seeing them put on Christmas trees.
Love these@ Great tutorial 👌. HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY! Peace and good fortune and good health to you and your family. Your wife is so cute! All the best. ❤️
As always, Doug - love your carving style, and your instruction. So entertaining and educational. I also appreciate you carving with knives that are affordable and easy to obtain. Thanks!
Many thanks for being so inspirational Doug, love what you`re doing! About to start my carving adventure as soon as my knife arrives. There`s postal strikes here at the moment which is a bit frustrating but hey ho, patience is a virture. Greetings from England!
Merci beaucoup pour votre travail, c'est merveilleux de voir la naissance d'un personnage de A à Z! Ils sont magnifiques! Bravo! Joyeux Noël à vous ainsi qu'à votre famille☃🎄🎅🧑🎄
I will be getting a flex cut set for Christmas. So I will give your snowman a try. I have a work shop so I have a selection of dowels to chose from. Merry Christmas to you and your family.😁 Jim's wood shop.
Doug another great video. It was actually better than most because of getting to watch something go wrong and how you calmly showed that it was easily fixed. I also thought it was very cool to have Sophie sing in the background. I luve by myself and while I enjoy the quiet, I think especially at Christmas time it is wonderful to have beautiful voices singing joyful songs. Also I thought the reason people got little dogs was so they could talk to them and treat them like babies. Never was really sure I have always been a big dog dude. Regardless it is always creative at the Linker house. Thanks for the tutorial, I am off to whip up a last minute gift. Merry Christmas to you and the family! Don't forget brother Carl either as I see you somewhat frequently on his channel, or at least some woodland creature that shares your image! Lol
It amazes me how you can make anything out of a piece of wood! My dad used to "widdle" using cedar. He just passed on October 19th. We have a few pieces of his good smelling pieces left. Keep up the awesome work. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
I'm glad you gave the Flex Cut knives a shout out because of all the ones you use they are the only ones available. Helvie, OCC, and all the others are back ordered into the next century. Unless you want to pay triple the price on Ebay.
i remember seeing stuff like this when i was a kid, people would carve similar figures out of the old wooden clothes pins. Put them on Christmas trees.
I have a carving friend who worked for phone company in upper state NY. When they were replacing white cedar poles they said he could take what he wanted. He cut them in 1ft lengths then split them. Pieces ended up in ~1" diameter. From there he designed a simple face Santa with a tall hat & long jaggery beard. As the wood split like bamboo. Each one more unique than the last based on knot holes and curve-shapes.
Great stuff! These look great.....got some dowels left over from the last time 😁 Have to try some. Thank you for sharing. X Merry Christmas to you and your family. 😘🏴
Nice little whittle. Reminds me of one I done about a year ago, with a greenwood Blackthorn stick about 3 quarter inch diameter and about 5 inches long - based it on your 5-minute wizard. As you mentioned, it does tend to fall over if touched, so I've got it safely away from all of that now (can see it standing proud on the TV shelf, right beside the 'log' effect offcut that came from it).
Doug, How do I donate?? !!! I hope you read these occasionally. I am an avid fan and use your step-by-step, well-explained vids almost daily, and most of them over and over while I work on your projects. I have asked this question before, but forget/can't find the vid I posted to see what your answer was. So, I posted to shortcut to this vid to watch for an answer. This brings me great joy and an opportunity to slow my world down when I am doing this. Look forward to hearing how to show my appreciation by donating!! Tom Ramsey
