I love all your videos, you just keep on doing them the way you’ve always done them!! Your simple snowman from last year was the first carving I did. You’re a great inspiration!
Loved this video Doug nice snowman, i like that you mentioned make this project your own, cant wait till the next one. By the way loved the groot nice job.
Doug great video. Always the enjoy them. Like you said, always make them your own. Even if you make the same one over and over they will always be different, you can't always make them exactly the same.
Last year I chose your simple Santa- carved out 12 as gifts. This year will be this rustic simple snowman. I love your videos!! Please keep putting them out!👍🏻❤️
Nice!!! Your comment in the beginning, about size, was spot on. I spent a year carving nothing but the simple Santa's...42 of them, at 1x1x6. Then I went to carve something out of a 2x2x6...OMG, what a difference. That will take some getting use to. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks Doug 👍. I can't draw, like at all, but when I see a finished carving I can make it my own and recreate a similar finished product and love doing it! Just a knife (added a small gouge and a V tool) like you suggested in your what do I need vid and I'm going for hours!
You're right Make it your own. Many people try to make exactly what you curve That's very difficult to do. Lot of the other sites I go to you see the same figure all the time it would be a spirit or anything like that Paul
Found your channel and I love it, I finished work through Anxiety and I find your videos really relaxing. So, thank you very much for that, you are helping people more than you realise. p.s. Love the snow scenes outside your property.,
Great to see you back with a new tutorial. I really enjoy the way you teach woodcarving these basswood caricatures. I finally got around to making a carving that is original to me...a cartoon whale for my daughter and granddaughter. Thank you for all you have taught me.
Thank you so much for another tutorial for us beginners. By the way, you are "guilty" of having myself engaging in this beautiful, relaxing and rewarding hobby. Thanks to you, I found in what spend my free hours now that I'm retired. Well... not that much "free hours" and not that much "retired" when you have two daughters and four grand-kids that ask for help int heir day-to-day duties, but anyway... any minute free is dedicated to learn, try, and advance in woodcarving. Thank you very much, Doug. Keep up the good work in your channel and never stop gifting us with your videos.
Loved it! I’ve been enjoying your videos for sometime now… super relaxing to listen to you chat and whittle. Thank you for sharing! I think you’re one of the best UA-camrs ever! I’ve got a kit on order. 😁 I can’t wait to whittle a snowman ⛄️
I love how the snowman turned out. I’m looking forward to learning how to carve by watching your videos. Thank you for taking the time to create these beginner videos.
Been working wood and building things for years but new to carving. I have to admit, I really enjoy the way you present your projects and the common sense approach you use to get things done. Really enjoy the channel and your work. Thanks for sharing. I have been bitten by the carving bug pretty hard.
Another great video Doug & teaching tool. The length is perfect whatever the project. Judging by the comments we would all like more tutorials but also understand the time involved in making them so we appreciate all that you do. Thanks again.
Awesome, I’m just starting out do these Whittling/Carving, so this is perfect timing. Great work, love it and love how you give us newbies different options. Thanks 🙏🏻👍👍💙
thanks so much for another great video! I've been copying your carvings for a while now. I've finally done a few original carvings with varying success:) When I get discouraged, I just go back and follow one of your tutorials. You teach so well and are an inspiration. Thanks so much for this channel. I'm sure it takes much time and effort. It is much appreciated.
Great tutorial video! We don't get to build too many snowmen down here in Georgia. But now I know how to carve one. Thanks and I always enjoy watching your videos.
I love your videos. You make it look so simple and you explain everything so well. I can’t wait to make this snowman. Keep making these beginner videos.
Great stuff as usual. Thanks Doug. A big part of the fun is making the carving a bit different to add a bit of your own personality to it. Looking forward to the next one, as always.
Thanks Doug! This will be my next challenge to make facets with a gouge, I love the rustic and artisan side it gives! Question please! What glue do you use?
Love watching you carve. You are like the Bob Ross of carving. Wondering what color you used on the base of this snowman before dry brushing. Thanks again
I started carving years ago. I went to a carving class, but I was always doing a different project from the class. I had a difficult time getting any assistance from the instructor. The class was at the Senior Center and I had to pay a dues. I had a bad experience with an individual mocking me. I was bullied from third grade until I graduated from highschool. Then the COVID-19 pandemic stopped the class. I've spent a lot of money on carving supplies. Also, I've subscribe to Woodcarving Illustrated magazine for years. I'd go to Artsy in Wood sponsored by the Disability group from Dayton Ohio. I love to carve Celtic designs and weaving designs. I'm interested in Chip Carving and have ordered a kit, but I haven't started yet. I've got many carvings, but I haven't finished them. I majored in art and psychology in college. Art is a process not the product. I do have a lot of basswood squares that would be perfect for this project. I'm going to save this video.
You have been my mentor for three years now. You teach better than any of the rest. Thanks so much Doug.
Thank you, Doug! I am going to show this video to my grandson to MAYBE get his head out of that cell phone. We can only try!
