Not just clothes, this man *wears* his body and makes his movements a central part of the performance. Soulful, exotic, keening. Scott. I miss you so much. :(
+Hil Saxton Saw this when it first aired. I didn't know much of anything about STP, but I was shocked that Leno had this kind of talent on his show. This tune always stuck with me since. Best band I ever saw on Leno....cept for ZZ Top.
These hollywood music types always turn into the physical embodiment of the music , ideas , and people they rub shoulders with . Most end up turning into very ugly critters , we see the same pattern over and over ( The Music scene in general can be very dangerous for all involved ) We get to peer into the void , these people dwell in this very dark world .
That was the best performance of this song, in my opinion. Those violins and orchestra thing makes it super emotional, especially with this amazing voice of Scott. R.I.P Legend
Such a haunting, nostalgic song. Man, if he just could've gotten off of the drugs.... he'd still most likely be around, writing music. 🕯R.I.P. Weiland🕯
The violin just makes it even more epic like a old medieval love tale feel to it. This version is so amazing!!!! And yet very emotional feel to it as well. Incredible!!!!!!
It was the depression that killed him really though the drugs were just a byproduct of that. Do people never wonder why people get hooked on drugs in the first place? Doctors who prescribe them are just treating symptoms not causes. He was on prescription meds too and was still using cocaine and booze you can't mix all that but he probably did not care anyway all that talent those looks he was really unhappy rape victim apparently too some failed relationships people think being a frontman makes his life perfect? I only saw him live once with Velvet Revolver he's just another act on my list of experiences.
Shockingly beautiful. This is my favorite thing ever, ever from The Tonight Show. The production, the camera work, the mood, the professional effort. A cool cat and hot band. STP forever in my heart. Thank you for putting this on UA-cam. Jim George, a now 58 year old white gay guy in Columbus, Ohio wishing I could back to when I saw this when it first aired. Big Bang Baby, It’s a gas gas gas. RIP.
It is so obvious Scott was immensely proud of this song in particular. And he should've been, it's a brilliant song. And wow, what a classy outfit he showed up to perform it in that day. RIP
I just looked at a guitar tutorial, there's maybe 2 normal chords. While it might sound simple, it's probably not . And Scotts voice was eirely fabulous here! Be a fun song to learn, probably harder than Interstate love song.
a very sad day we lost another great talent in rock r.i. p. Scott w. you were talented and by far one of the greatest voices in rock history your music lives on forever. rock on in heaven . peace*
One of my favorite songs. This was always my big brother’s favorite grunge band and singer and we had the privilege of seeing them live at bumbershoot in seattle! Scott was amazing live 💕
Over here, an aging rocker, I "discovered" him late in his career. Still it is so sad how substances deprive us of all that our true artists have to offer!
I will always and forever miss this man😞STP has got me through my darkest days,i love every one of their songs but Sour Girl will always have a very special place in my heart💙
Forgot how alive I was during these times. I was completely free to do what I wanted, go where I wanted to go...it took me over 10 years to get that freedom back and I cherish it now more than ever. RIP Scott, you lived your life to the fullest and showed us that everyday on this planet is special.
I am always amazed at how their live performances are even more incredible than the studio versions - they stay true to their original arrangement, yet add subtle but distinctive nuances. This 'version' just amplifies what amazing musicians they are/were, and how understatedly brilliant Scott Weiland was as a vocalist. Bravo!
Came here, watched it, got blown away by their perfection as a band, got blown away by Scott's unparalleled talent, THEN I started reading the comment section... spent 10 minutes steadily liking each comment, since EVERY COMMENT in this video is purely positive. How can you not like this? There's 17 people in the world that are a complete waste of air. Everytime I think about the state of the world and realize that people like Scott Weiland, Chris Cornell, Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley, Chester Bennington and countless others aren´t here with us anymore, that music like this isn't being made anymore, just makes me understand how so many of them end up struggling with drugs and dying/killing themselves. It's hard not to get depressed when you have a such a sensitive soul and get thrown into this fucking cruel world man...
I love how these guys went from "this is a style we've already heard from other bands" (record #1) to really owning their own sound. Even straight away from Purple.
Possibly one of the most unique songs of the decade.
Nancy Agnello agreed! Considering this was smack in the middle of the nu metal/autotune/boy-band wave, It was especially unique.
@@jasonmccormack8993 The Smashing Pumpkins were making similarly adventurous stuff at this time. Not to deny any of the majesty of this masterpiece.
I love the artistry of this song - such great songwriting - modern day Beatle -esque for this great band when it came out 👍
Tonight & 1979 - Smashing Pumpkins + Sour Girl, Interstate Love Song, and Killing Me Sweetly (Scott Weiland solo project - ua-cam.com/video/fHJkVNuCmoM/v-deo.html ).
Agreed. Still think it’s one of the greatest alt-country songs around (though they’ll never call it that lol)
This was Scott on top of the mountain...Pure gold.
when he was on top of his game he was am AMAZING frontman. .....
77Sinner Same here
A diamond, a crazy diamond.
And now?
@@bamboozld1357 and now still better than your life :V F00L

Yes. It's rare that you describe rock as having CLASS, but he embodied it.
...I see JOaquin Phoenix dancing ...idk why ...
perfect comment. i second everything you said.
@@miskelproducts41 yes well said.
@@JTNYLI Two intensely talented off the mainstream artists at the top of their abilities. I get it.
This is hands down one of my favorite live songs from STP. And what an incredible live version.
RiP, Scott Weiland. =/
+Hil Saxton Saw this when it first aired. I didn't know much of anything about STP, but I was shocked that Leno had this kind of talent on his show. This tune always stuck with me since. Best band I ever saw on Leno....cept for ZZ Top.

Agreed-this is amazing
Scott had style, he rocked it properly
Andres Mendez he had talent
as well.
Charisma
A true original. So MUCH charisma.
I fantasize about an HD remastered version of this performance.
Sigh.....me too😢😥😭
And every live version - they all are brilliant :)
Yes!!!!
My design
There is nothing to "remaster". It's PERFECT.
That was the best performance of this song, in my opinion.
Those violins and orchestra thing makes it super emotional, especially with this amazing voice of Scott.
R.I.P Legend
אופק עזריה true, this is when he totally threw his heart singing that song.
yeah the violins are great here
צודק
Best one I’ve seen/heard.
its one of the best live peformances ever in my opinion
Such a haunting, nostalgic song.
Man, if he just could've gotten
off of the drugs.... he'd still most

🕯R.I.P. Weiland🕯
He looks so healthy here. I've watched a lot of his vids from the start to end. It's incredible what addiction can do to a person.
God he sounds so vulnerable... it's beautiful
One of the best voices of my generation and definitely the best dressed... Rest in paradise Scott
Layne Staley was up there too.
like with ACDC, I didn't listen to STP music until about 20 years later. The man was drop dead gorgeous.
Hands down, best live version of Sour Girl! Scott was such a beautiful man and well dressed! I love you Scott!💝
ua-cam.com/video/qONsEenYM4I/v-deo.html
This as well
Thanks for the music Scott. RIP you charismatic well dressed devil.
I just got one of his shirts that he designed for English Laundry
Bad Ass..
There's a lot going on vocally in this song and he nailed it. Great performance.
The man. I don't care how good the new singer sounds . No one can hold Scott's jockstrap........
Monte aiken nobody cares about STP without Scott it’s not STP in my opinion.
Amen,!!!
BEST PERFORMANCE OF SOUR GIRL
your picture looks like the girl on Shangri La dee la
Scott...you were a beautiful soul....no more demons to do battle. RIP brother.
What a lovely version. 2024 and never seen this before. Great work lads
His singing voice is like no other....
Why?? I'm still upset that he's gone.
Same here....
One of the greatest melodies/progressions ever written. From one of the greatest bands of the 90s.
Couldn't agree more. Such a loss. :(
This band was as good as any band from any era. Scott showing here that he was as good as as any vocalist ever.
Cant watch this without crying..
One of the best live performances on a tv show, ever.
That falsetto though...❤️
The violin just makes it even more epic like a old medieval love tale feel to it.
This version is so amazing!!!! And yet very emotional feel to it as well.
Incredible!!!!!!
It really is beautiful✨ And from a violinist experience, it's not easy to play.
❤️❤️❤️
They didn't have violins back then. But it's your fantasy so you can do what you want I guess.
he had such a beautiful singing voice.♡
Zuuzann Mitchelz the best!
Indeed
What an incredible version! One of the most beautiful songs ever written and sung. Miss him.
There's so much feeling in his voice. It reaches down inside you and just resonates with your soul.
agreed-this is just stunning
How does this not have more views??? What a great performance!!! Scott is such a rock star!!
I was always struck by Scott’s ability to sing on pitch consistently when performing live. Great live band and a very gifted frontman.
Man his voice is ridiculously amazing.
ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING. INCREDIBLE BAND!!!!
Outstanding
scott weiland in his prime was a badass period!!! sad that drugs took him over. one of the greatest frontman of all time!!! RIP Scott! :(

Absolutely beautiful. The violin, along with the emotion in Scott’s voice, really makes it.
Wow he's singing great here
Sad that he is not with us anymore. Very talented man. He knocked it out of the park here. R I P Scott
The girl got reasons
They all got reasons
That says it all right there.
Her reasons are not so clear. Like the reasons of all!
That's because it only makes sense to her - and FUCK YOU for daring to ask how you "ruined her life" !
I love this song
bought this album when it came out from Barnes and Noble. I want 2000 back
this has been in my head for 19yrs?? YES!
I can't even come up with a comment it is so good these cats we're at the top of their game and weiland's voice was spot on
Thought I would listen to my favorite STP song after hearing about Scott. RIP man. Too Young gone.
I’m obsessing over this performance. Absolutely perfect and heartbreaking.
Damn it Scott.... just damn it

He kind of reminds me of Bowie in this performance. That being said I'm not very familiar with STP so I don't know if this is how he always was
@@christopherhebert1504 Chris, I see what you mean, Both Bowie and Scott will bring the same joy.

Same. their music helped me during junior high...I’m almost 40 now and never forgot ...love STP ❤️
This December will make 5 years since his untimely death. It still saddens me. He was one rock's best singers.
One of our best front men in all of Rock
Music was still incredible just 20 short years ago.
This is goddamn insane. So good it measures off the charts of sanity.
Fabulous comment ☀️🧡☀️
