Filling Mushroom Syringes with a Peristaltic Pump System

- If you make a lot of mushroom spore/liquid culture syringes, you know how much it can hurt your fingers after a while. I designed this system to help prevent that problem and also to make the whole process more efficient. The system works just like how i had imagined it would. I think it would be a good idea to add a foot pedal or to use a bigger peristaltic pump that fits a 1/4 tube so we don't have to use 2 different sized tubes with adapters.

The next step could be putting a syringe needle on the end (with a male luer lock fitting at the end of the hose) and directly inoculating sets of jars or bags.

I wonder with a more pump that can accept wider tubing, would the flow rate be increased enough to do multiples at once efficiently? I imagine its the flow rate that matters there...

Yeah it could be the flow rate. When I tried 4 syringes at once, it filled the syringes unevenly.
@@SporenSproutit does the same for me, I think it's because the syringes are new and dry, but I'll just let them fill up all the way if I'm doing multiple

How do you sterilize the pump?
The pump itself doesn’t need to be sterilized. The tubing attachments are sterilized in jars before being attached to pump.

@@metacaty There are 2 1/4 “ holes in the lid. One for 2 layers of micropore tape and the other for 1/4 “ bulk head fitting: This is a brass one amzn.to/408j6HT or this is a plastic ones: amzn.to/45GOwWY it doesn’t require sealant, there are no leaks once tightened. The bulk head adapter on the lid fits the 1/4 tubing and green cap.

What is the purpose of using a 9mm tube on the jar instead of using 3mm tubing for the whole thing. Does it improve flow rate or prevent clogging?
Yeah it helps prevent clogging at the entry.

I don't know where should i store my LC syringes because my fridge only operates under 9 degrees Celsius and i think they will die at that temperature.
Just store them in a cold room instead.
