As soon as they raised accusations of polytheism, I stopped watching Doreen’s video. It was apparent to me that they had either not studied Heiser’s material or were being dishonest. It was no longer worth my time.
It’s horrible how many “Christians” are disparaging Mike’s work after his death!!! It’s not surprising,though, just really sad.😞 Thanks guys for standing up for him! It’s one thing to disagree with him, but, these people are bludgeoning Mike personally, and it’s just wrong!
Dr. Heiser earned a Master’s Degree in ancient history from the University of Pennsylvania…which is one of the few universities where one can get a PhD in Egyptology. He also received a PhD in Hebrew and Semitic Languages from the prestigious Hebrew studies department within the University of Wisconsin. As a former student of Dr. Heiser, I can say that his scholarship was not only superior, but also solidly based on the Holy Scriptures. And for critics of his work…remember Mike said that he never had an original thought. Thus, if you criticize Heiser, you must also take one many many other scholars.
Mike opened up a view on the biblical narrative in a humble unassuming way that only he could; God's plan was to incorporate him into the Lord's army on this earth and he was taken home way to early. Miss him so much! 😮
Before Dr. Heiser, most of us had never heard of "spirit realm", "divine council", "small-g gods", and many more things. Through him, God opened up so many minds to these truths. I have not seen the accusatory video and in fact am just about to watch this Podcast, but I am saddened by the idea that people just don't want to learn or progress in biblical knowledge. He wrote and spoke as God directed him in such a humble and straightforward manner.
Ive spent countless hours listening to mike heiser. Brilliant, and blessed. Im grateful for the debunking of ancient aliens video, 10 years ago, it introduced me to mike. No nonsense teaching, with a unique ability to turn scholarly work into laymans terms. Ive learned more from him, than anyone i can remember. A close second would be will durant.
I really appreciate you taking the time to respond and to uphold Mike’s character. If you could list the panel in the comments and any links to their UA-cam or podcast channels would be great. Several years ago when I came across Dr. Heiser‘s Work I found it really inspiring. I found it safe, I found Dr. Heiser very confident in his own scholarship, but humble enough to receive correction or a different opinion. He opened up the scholarly world to me. He encouraged me to think outside my theological box, and re-examine my beliefs in a way that deepened my relationship with God and be more compassionate towards unbelievers and Christian alike.
If there were “no other gods’,” then why would Scripture warn us, over and over, to not worship them? Why would God judge His own chosen people for worshipping the gods of paganism?? It’s really strange that people reject this! Satan’s very objective was to “ be like the Most High!” To redirect worship to himself and bring into question the Word of GOD!
The scriptures consistently portrays God as a singular being. Verses like Deuteronomy 6:4 ("Hear, O Israel: Yehovah our God, Yehovah is one") and Isaiah 45:5 ("I am Yehovah, and there is no other; besides me there is no God") are clear declarations of monotheism. The commandment "You shall have no other gods before me" can be seen as a directive against the prevalent polytheistic practices of surrounding nations. -Peace and blessings

So glad to see this, and can’t wait to watch it from beginning to end. As a reformed Christian married to a Presbyterian minister, I came across Dr. Heiser a little over four years ago. I could not believe his content as I had never heard anything like it before, but quickly got sucked into the whole world of the “divine council”, et al. I contacted him, however, after hearing him reject reformed theology and Calvinism. I expressed concern about his caricature (!) of both, and sought to challenge him. His response? He sent me a free copy of The Unseen Realm, signed. While he did not want to engage me along the lines of my concerns, (his call-busy man), he unexpectedly sent us his book and asked us to read it. What a generous thing for him to do. This book, with Michael’s signature, means more to me than just about any book I have on my shelf.
Thank you so much for this video. I had read my Bible cover to cover alongside a commentary twice the size of my Bible right before I ran into Heiser. At first I thought ya this guys not right but something inside me pushed to investigate. It was kinda weird, I felt a bit like a heretic lol, but whoa what I found. I fell in love with my Bible and Jesus in a deep, deep way I had not known. Heiser helped me see the epic love story that is our Bible. I now credit the Holy Spirit for leading me to investigate Heiser’s work. I put together a girls family Bible Study we have been doing 2-3 nights a week now for years. Thanks to falling in love with my Bible through Heiser’s work.
Thank you all for discussing these topics. My late husband was an avid reader of Heiser and would take umbrage at being referred to as a cult member. I learn so much from Doug and really enjoyed this.
Thanks to you all for this! I had someone drag me into this controversy by bringing me Jordan Cooper's disclaimer video, where he's trying to distance himself from Doreen Virtue. I had no knowledge that anyone was out there tearing our friend Dr. Heiser apart posthumously. So, I suffered through the Virtue (not her real name) video and was really struggling until I ran across your rejoinder. I've been reading/listening/following Dr. Heiser's work since about 2012. It changed my life, and I'm sad that there are those who can't get outside their traditions to consider what is obviously good scholarship. Blessings!
At the very least, Doreen should issue an apology to the Heiser family. She started out by saying its not a personal attack. Then, for over two hours, they picked away at his reputation as a scholar, much it could be called slander.

Heiser was VERY careful in how he expressed things as an academic scholar and he made his Christian beliefs very clear and they are completely and utterly orthodox (Jesus as incarnated God, one person of triune God, resurrected from the dead and ascended, the only way to salvation and then by faith alone). Of course people are going to misuse what he wrote (whether carelessly or purposely) and there is always a danger in that, and I did worry about it, but that risk is no reason not to educate Christians in what the Scriptures actually say or might be alluding to. Christians need to be trained to understand the difference between primary and secondary doctrines/beliefs as well as what it means to be epistemically humble. It seems to me that it is currently very popular to claim to be ex-New Age and somehow an expert on all things spiritual and somehow now an expert on what the Bible says about the spiritual realm. UA-cam is full of them and much of what is said is just plain embarrassing.
Regarding the accusation that Michael Heiser "is a gnostic", it's utterly ludicrous. He put out a 6 hour long video in which he analyzed and debunked gnosticism. Look up Introducing Gnosticism: Understanding the Worldview Behind The Da Vinci Code on youtube if you're interested. Calling Dr. Heiser a gnostic is like calling Irenaeus a gnostic.
I am not surprised that the comments have been turned off on Doreen Virtue’s video. As Chuck Missler said if you torture the evidence long enough you can make is confess to anything, this is in fact what she and her entourage did to Dr Heiser’s work. I am very thankful you have brought together the people you have to rebut this. It shows that though ‘educated’ many either do not or refuse to understand what is placed before them. I pray God works this together for good and many more are introduced to Dr Heiser and his work and perhaps some of those who made the video will gain a better more cogent understanding of Mike’s work.
While I do not agree with Doreen’s critique of Heiser, she keeps comments turned off on UA-cam because she doesn’t have anyone else helping her moderate comments and she gets a lot of hate from New Agers who used to follow her. She has comments on with the podcast she shares with Jen Nizza and Jac Marino Chen and she encourages people to email her or comment to her on instagram and she will get back to them. She’s explained this a lot of times on her podcast. I think she’s really trying, she went to seminary, I just think she missed the mark here and I hope she apologizes.
Sola and Tota Scriptura should inform our theological understanding and convictions. Excellent discussion about Doreen's misguided discussions on Dr. Heiser and his work. I hope she recognizes the errors of the videos and repents.
I listened to the video you were discussing. I am happy I listened to it before this video. I commented on it kindly by saying I did not hear much substance. I did hear opinion. I hav read Unseen Realm going on my second time. I have listened to about 25 hours of Michael Heiser and I found him to be consistent and respectful of scripture. He never said the book of Enoch should be in the canon. But he did say that because the writers in the Bible used that in scripture, he felt that it was important for exposing some very difficult things that we have been struggling with for quite a while. Since listening to him and reading the Unseen Realm. It has deepened my commitment to Jesus and how he wants me to behave (Love others the way he loved) and what he wants me to do, tell others about Him. It's because.... the Bible has exploded into full view for the first time. Life changing. Everything finally falls into place. And we have to ask the question: why has God given this gift of understanding to us at this time in history? It does seem that we are getting ever closer to the Great Unveiling. Of course, the Bible says the end will come, eventually. If I could advise any sort of preparation for this time, it's to daily remember your fear of the Lord, so you stay on the right side of what is being revealed. I was so upset when I started watching the referenced video. I had to turn it off very early on. While I didn’t always completely agree with Dr. Heiser, I appreciated his teachings and am forever grateful for him not protecting me from my bible! Thank you to you and the others who spoke up, and I do pray more will take the time to listen to this faithful, thoughtful and gracious defense of Michael Heiser.

Dr Heiser made you think. He encouraged thinking. Thinking outside the constraints of confessional restrictions, not because they have no value, but because confessional thinking edits our reading of the Bible.
I love that about him. I pray that we believers endeavor to follow in his footsteps- that we learn the basics, then find the stuff that interests us and really get into it. I also appreciate his non-dogmatic way of discussing what's important to him. I know I'm talking about him like he's still here with us. The Gospel was delivered to the Saints once and for all. God preserved His word and the correct meanings in it. You're frighteningly ignorant of Christian history and apparently believe no one had the Holy Spirit and discernment and that Jesus lied when He said that the Holy Spirit would lead the Church He established. If you're reinventing it, you're doing what Paul warned against and teaching some new thing. This makes you a heretic.
Unseen Realm forever changed my biblical framework and spiritual worldview for the better. I did not agree with him on every piece of theology, but I am a stronger and more knowledgeable Christian because of him. And I'll defend and teach his Deut 32/Psalm 82 worldview as long as the Lord allows.
You first admit that you don't believe all of his theology, which means you think he teaches some heresies and you don't care much about complete truth and think it's okay to normalize heresy. Then you say you will defend HIS specific views as YOU pick and choose what you feel like. Why not learn what Christianity actually is and what the unified Church of the first 1000 years of Christianity taught? I'm not talking about modern Roman Catholicism here. If you believe God preserved Scriptures, why do you think He didn't preserve their meaning and left it up to every individual to figure it out and recreate the entire religion in every generation? Do you think Jesus lied when He said the Holy Spirit would lead the Church into all truth and that the gates of hades would not prevail against it? Or when Paul said that the Gospel has already been delivered once and for all to the Saints? Do you not think that the people who learned directly from the Apostles knew what they were talking about and had less knowledge and discernment than YOU? You're basically a sectarian cult member with some modern theologian as your little pope. You might as well be Mormon.

Well done guys! Loved Dr. Heiser information, books and concepts he brought forth. It helped me to understand the Bible much more even after being at a Bible University some years ago myself.

Go, and do so now.” And the Lord declared disaster for them. Seriously, I believe all “this” is about God exposing jaded, haughtiness- in His house. They way I understand the OT use of "eloheim" is that it is similar to our use of "spirit". No one thinks that because Christians believe in spirits (both evil and good, and human) in addition to the Holy Spirit (sometimes called "The Spirit" in the NT), that that makes us polytheism. Eloheim is similar in that it can refers to spiritual beings.

Just so disappointed that she, to be blunt, lied about what he had stated in every interview he did which is that this is not something new he came up with. First, thanks to you men for all your labor past and present to make known to us the goodness and glory of our God and Savior Jesus Christ. I had listened to Mike for 15+ years before accepting his teaching as truthful, it was so foreign to me than the 50 years of traditional Southern Baptist teaching I had previously known. Acceptance destroyed religious strongholds and set me free in Christ. I am most grateful to Mike and those like you who continue to set the captives free. Thank you! Bill
Dr. Heiser was a wonderful teacher who boldly waded into the Christian fringe. While there were things I disagreed with him on, such as not understanding Old Testament passages of Satan according to the New Testament understanding of Satan, and his premise that the flood account was ambiguous enough for it to have been a local flood, I have greatly appreciated his books and his devotion to presenting us a greater understanding of the cultural context in which the Biblical texts were written. It is a shame that he is being slandered by people who have chosen to reject the supernatural paradigm.

Dr. Heiser was a gift from God for these last days to help us mere mortals connect the dots of scriptures; these dots were left unconnected from past scholars for various reasons, too numerous to mention here, did he connect all dots, no, he was still a mere mortal with gifts for us, I have "deep dived" with Dr. Heiser since 2015 seeing this unfounded criticism is easy when used against the dead, I do appreciate Doug and company for bringing this to light. I always saw Dr. Heiser in the light of my first teachers, Donald Grey Barnhouse, Walter Martin, Chuck Smith, Chuck Missler, Tom Horn etc. who were gifts to the true body of Yeshua, Maranatha!! p.s. I do think Mike would enjoy the challenge of debating the critics, I personally miss his physical presence but not our will, His will be done.
Marcia Montenegro (one of Doreen's critics) told me she spent NEARLY 300 HOURS studying Heiser before the filming. Inconceivable! (And I know what that word means!)
No, she's spent 300 hours cherry-picking his work and the book of Enoch in order to defame him. I'm in a Facebook group she runs. Despite all her study, she still doesn't understand Heiser.
While I appreciate some of Marcia’s exposure of the occult New Age movement, she seems to have gotten a big head and lacks discernment in other areas. I pray all the “critics” hear this podcast and repent for misrepresenting the truth!
I am not a smart guy. Dr Heisers work changed my life. It opened up Scripture like you guys said in the podcast to explain the Text in a context that just fits. It doesn't pull me away from Christ rather it only shows that Jesus is the ultimate Victory and awesome saviour of my life and has Victory over everything. Dr Heiser never took away power from Christ, he only showed how much more he conquered. Not only biblically it makes sense but also looking at Archeology, Human History, the Astronomical wisom of the ancient people, the knowledge of principalities and their claim of Land.....all those things match up with the Bible, and with the Bible as the Authority and the Holy Ghost helping us understand Texture I have no doubt that the supernatural view as described in Dr Heisers books are correct. Fellow Christians accusing a brother should be carefull by doing so......The accuser does the same thing......before someone calls a fellow Brother a liar, be very careful of what the motivation is behind that accusation. I was so disappointed in Doreen and hopefully she'll take the time to actually dig into his material personally instead of just going off of here say. I watched Doreen Virtue's video. I found it to be terrifically disingenuous. All of the participants mischaracterized Heiser. They made statements that were very close to being 180 degrees from describing him. I am happy to see you rebutting that video. Michael Heiser has brought texture and color to my understanding of scripture NOT secret information.
I've said it before I'll say it again, Doreen and her gossip group are not even close to the scholars Mike was. If Darrell Bock, John Peckham, Ben Witherington III et al have no problems with Mike's theology then why are we bothered when UA-cam commentators criticise Mike's work? Thank you gentlemen for a very thorough, passionate and Godly discussion. Dr. Heiser made the spiritual realm easy to comprehend, it is a subject that in some arenas isn't discussed much at all. With the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls alot more historical information is available to fill gaps. Ephesians 6:10-12 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. I am not a biblical scholar, but was in the military. The phrase "know your enemy" comes to mind. Bless you all.
Sad that people take to criticizing him after he passed and in such an awful way. I say to those people take a step back and really research your topic. Some people just parrot what the Majority are saying with no knowledge of the topic. I appreciated Mike’s opinions and explanations. He had a unique perspective and quite a sense of humor. You said it. You let a man reinterpret a 2000 year old religion for you in modern times. You apparently believe he had more of the Holy Spirit and discernment, and perhaps more intelligence, than the entire Body of Christ for the first 1000 years of the Faith. Maybe you think Jesus didn't know what He was talking about when He promised the Spirit would preserve the Church and lead it into all truth so that we have to reinvent things and contradict what the Body of Christ has known for centuries. this was so helpful to me bcuz I started listening to m. heifer and I found him interesting but I loved his voice and his quips to bring humor and understanding. but I got scared bcuz I didn't want to be a nephelim nut job so I thought I won't listen to m. heifers teachings. but this podcast has made me want to dig deeper in the bible and study other topics that m. heiser covered. thank you.
Besides slandering Dr. Michael Heiser, Doreen Virtue also criticized Deliverance Ministries. The fact that she CONTINUALLY does this (picking on whoever and whatever catches her attention), only means she herself has NOT gone through the process of deliverance from new age and everything associated with it.
I loved Heiser's work. He is the reason I am a Christian. His work was so simple to understand, so clearly explained and laid out. Everything was completely logical and explanatory of the world we live in. How people don't get Heiser I can not understand. It is very frustrating. I've found the opponents I have had to deal with regarding Heiser is they can not deal with the "sons of God" being anything other than normal humans. Which of course, strips the Bible of almost all of its spiritual meaning. Such a pity. Heiser nailed it. I say it every time I get the chance. I loved his podcast with Trey as well. I miss him. Thanks for the defense of a great guy who brought the Bible to Life for me.

It is fascinating that Doreen and co. are trying to say that polytheism is the general belief in many ‘gods’ instead of the worship of multiple ‘gods’ alongside Yaweh.
Great video - thanks! Doreen has gotten deep into a specific brand of Reformed Baptist dogma and her attitude about it has become a bit cultish. I stopped watching her channel because she has become so rigid. I left the Reformed crowd a couple years back because of further studies into the early Church and Church Fathers. Reformed theology promotes so many inconsistencies, misunderstandings, and flat-out lies that I just couldn't stay on board with it. Mike Heiser was a true scholar and never let preconceived notions stand in the way of discovering and understanding Biblical and historical truth.

As a former student of Dr. Mike Heiser, I really appreciate this video. Thanks, everyone!
As soon as they raised accusations of polytheism, I stopped watching Doreen’s video. It was apparent to me that they had either not studied Heiser’s material or were being dishonest. It was no longer worth my time.
It’s horrible how many “Christians” are disparaging Mike’s work after his death!!! It’s not surprising,though, just really sad.😞 Thanks guys for standing up for him! It’s one thing to disagree with him, but, these people are bludgeoning Mike personally, and it’s just wrong!

Dr. Heiser earned a Master’s Degree in ancient history from the University of Pennsylvania…which is one of the few universities where one can get a PhD in Egyptology. He also received a PhD in Hebrew and Semitic Languages from the prestigious Hebrew studies department within the University of Wisconsin. As a former student of Dr. Heiser, I can say that his scholarship was not only superior, but also solidly based on the Holy Scriptures. And for critics of his work…remember Mike said that he never had an original thought. Thus, if you criticize Heiser, you must also take one many many other scholars.

Mike opened up a view on the biblical narrative in a humble unassuming way that only he could; God's plan was to incorporate him into the Lord's army on this earth and he was taken home way to early. Miss him so much! 😮
Before Dr. Heiser, most of us had never heard of "spirit realm", "divine council", "small-g gods", and many more things. Through him, God opened up so many minds to these truths. I have not seen the accusatory video and in fact am just about to watch this Podcast, but I am saddened by the idea that people just don't want to learn or progress in biblical knowledge. He wrote and spoke as God directed him in such a humble and straightforward manner.

Ive spent countless hours listening to mike heiser. Brilliant, and blessed. Im grateful for the debunking of ancient aliens video, 10 years ago, it introduced me to mike. No nonsense teaching, with a unique ability to turn scholarly work into laymans terms.
Ive learned more from him, than anyone i can remember. A close second would be will durant.
I really appreciate you taking the time to respond and to uphold Mike’s character. If you could list the panel in the comments and any links to their UA-cam or podcast channels would be great. Several years ago when I came across Dr. Heiser‘s Work I found it really inspiring. I found it safe, I found Dr. Heiser very confident in his own scholarship, but humble enough to receive correction or a different opinion. He opened up the scholarly world to me. He encouraged me to think outside my theological box, and re-examine my beliefs in a way that deepened my relationship with God and be more compassionate towards unbelievers and Christian alike.
If there were “no other gods’,” then why would Scripture warn us, over and over, to not worship them? Why would God judge His own chosen people for worshipping the gods of paganism?? It’s really strange that people reject this!
Satan’s very objective was to “ be like the Most High!”
To redirect worship to himself and bring into question the Word of GOD!
It is sad, Mike always made sense and even if some of his teaching was off in any way, he was always a gentleman. And I don't think he was, by the way
The scriptures consistently portrays God as a singular being. Verses like Deuteronomy 6:4 ("Hear, O Israel: Yehovah our God, Yehovah is one") and Isaiah 45:5 ("I am Yehovah, and there is no other; besides me there is no God") are clear declarations of monotheism.
The commandment "You shall have no other gods before me" can be seen as a directive against the prevalent polytheistic practices of surrounding nations.

So glad to see this, and can’t wait to watch it from beginning to end. As a reformed Christian married to a Presbyterian minister, I came across Dr. Heiser a little over four years ago. I could not believe his content as I had never heard anything like it before, but quickly got sucked into the whole world of the “divine council”, et al. I contacted him, however, after hearing him reject reformed theology and Calvinism. I expressed concern about his caricature (!) of both, and sought to challenge him.
His response? He sent me a free copy of The Unseen Realm, signed. While he did not want to engage me along the lines of my concerns, (his call-busy man), he unexpectedly sent us his book and asked us to read it. What a generous thing for him to do.
This book, with Michael’s signature, means more to me than just about any book I have on my shelf.
Thank you so much for this video. I had read my Bible cover to cover alongside a commentary twice the size of my Bible right before I ran into Heiser. At first I thought ya this guys not right but something inside me pushed to investigate. It was kinda weird, I felt a bit like a heretic lol, but whoa what I found. I fell in love with my Bible and Jesus in a deep, deep way I had not known. Heiser helped me see the epic love story that is our Bible. I now credit the Holy Spirit for leading me to investigate Heiser’s work. I put together a girls family Bible Study we have been doing 2-3 nights a week now for years. Thanks to falling in love with my Bible through Heiser’s work.
Thank you all for discussing these topics. My late husband was an avid reader of Heiser and would take umbrage at being referred to as a cult member. I learn so much from Doug and really enjoyed this.

Thanks to you all for this! I had someone drag me into this controversy by bringing me Jordan Cooper's disclaimer video, where he's trying to distance himself from Doreen Virtue. I had no knowledge that anyone was out there tearing our friend Dr. Heiser apart posthumously. So, I suffered through the Virtue (not her real name) video and was really struggling until I ran across your rejoinder. I've been reading/listening/following Dr. Heiser's work since about 2012. It changed my life, and I'm sad that there are those who can't get outside their traditions to consider what is obviously good scholarship. Blessings!
At the very least, Doreen should issue an apology to the Heiser family. She started out by saying its not a personal attack. Then, for over two hours, they picked away at his reputation as a scholar, much it could be called slander.
What kept going through my mind when I watched Ms. Virtues’ critique was, “Holy misrepresentation Batman!!”

Heiser was VERY careful in how he expressed things as an academic scholar and he made his Christian beliefs very clear and they are completely and utterly orthodox (Jesus as incarnated God, one person of triune God, resurrected from the dead and ascended, the only way to salvation and then by faith alone). Of course people are going to misuse what he wrote (whether carelessly or purposely) and there is always a danger in that, and I did worry about it, but that risk is no reason not to educate Christians in what the Scriptures actually say or might be alluding to. Christians need to be trained to understand the difference between primary and secondary doctrines/beliefs as well as what it means to be epistemically humble. It seems to me that it is currently very popular to claim to be ex-New Age and somehow an expert on all things spiritual and somehow now an expert on what the Bible says about the spiritual realm. UA-cam is full of them and much of what is said is just plain embarrassing.
Regarding the accusation that Michael Heiser "is a gnostic", it's utterly ludicrous. He put out a 6 hour long video in which he analyzed and debunked gnosticism. Look up Introducing Gnosticism: Understanding the Worldview Behind The Da Vinci Code on youtube if you're interested.
Calling Dr. Heiser a gnostic is like calling Irenaeus a gnostic.
I am not surprised that the comments have been turned off on Doreen Virtue’s video. As Chuck Missler said if you torture the evidence long enough you can make is confess to anything, this is in fact what she and her entourage did to Dr Heiser’s work. I am very thankful you have brought together the people you have to rebut this. It shows that though ‘educated’ many either do not or refuse to understand what is placed before them. I pray God works this together for good and many more are introduced to Dr Heiser and his work and perhaps some of those who made the video will gain a better more cogent understanding of Mike’s work.
She has them turned off on ALL of them, which is a red flag. Usually it means they're right and don't want any discussion...
While I do not agree with Doreen’s critique of Heiser, she keeps comments turned off on UA-cam because she doesn’t have anyone else helping her moderate comments and she gets a lot of hate from New Agers who used to follow her. She has comments on with the podcast she shares with Jen Nizza and Jac Marino Chen and she encourages people to email her or comment to her on instagram and she will get back to them. She’s explained this a lot of times on her podcast. I think she’s really trying, she went to seminary, I just think she missed the mark here and I hope she apologizes.

I listened to the video you were discussing. I am happy I listened to it before this video. I commented on it kindly by saying I did not hear much substance. I did hear opinion. I hav read Unseen Realm going on my second time. I have listened to about 25 hours of Michael Heiser and I found him to be consistent and respectful of scripture. He never said the book of Enoch should be in the canon. But he did say that because the writers in the Bible used that in scripture, he felt that it was important for exposing some very difficult things that we have been struggling with for quite a while. Since listening to him and reading the Unseen Realm. It has deepened my commitment to Jesus and how he wants me to behave (Love others the way he loved) and what he wants me to do, tell others about Him. Thank you for keeping your conversation on topic and I actually dealing with the misconceptions. Gods Blessings to you all.

And we have to ask the question: why has God given this gift of understanding to us at this time in history? While I didn’t always completely agree with Dr. Heiser, I appreciated his teachings and am forever grateful for him not protecting me from my bible! Dr Heiser made you think. He encouraged thinking. Thinking outside the constraints of confessional restrictions, not because they have no value, but because confessional thinking edits our reading of the Bible.
I love that about him. I pray that we believers endeavor to follow in his footsteps- that we learn the basics, then find the stuff that interests us and really get into it. I also appreciate his non-dogmatic way of discussing what's important to him. I know I'm talking about him like he's still here with us. He has moved on, but we still have his teaching, and guidance! ❤🎉🎉
The Gospel was delivered to the Saints once and for all. God preserved His word and the correct meanings in it. You're frighteningly ignorant of Christian history and apparently believe no one had the Holy Spirit and discernment and that Jesus lied when He said that the Holy Spirit would lead the Church He established. If you're reinventing it, you're doing what Paul warned against and teaching some new thing. This makes you a heretic.
Unseen Realm forever changed my biblical framework and spiritual worldview for the better. I did not agree with him on every piece of theology, but I am a stronger and more knowledgeable Christian because of him. And I'll defend and teach his Deut 32/Psalm 82 worldview as long as the Lord allows.
You first admit that you don't believe all of his theology, which means you think he teaches some heresies and you don't care much about complete truth and think it's okay to normalize heresy. Then you say you will defend HIS specific views as YOU pick and choose what you feel like. Why not learn what Christianity actually is and what the unified Church of the first 1000 years of Christianity taught? I'm not talking about modern Roman Catholicism here. If you believe God preserved Scriptures, why do you think He didn't preserve their meaning and left it up to every individual to figure it out and recreate the entire religion in every generation? Do you think Jesus lied when He said the Holy Spirit would lead the Church into all truth and that the gates of hades would not prevail against it? Or when Paul said that the Gospel has already been delivered once and for all to the Saints? Do you not think that the people who learned directly from the Apostles knew what they were talking about and had less knowledge and discernment than YOU? You're basically a sectarian cult member with some modern theologian as your little pope. You might as well be Mormon.

They way I understand the OT use of "eloheim" is that it is similar to our use of "spirit". No one thinks that because Christians believe in spirits (both evil and good, and human) in addition to the Holy Spirit (sometimes called "The Spirit" in the NT), that that makes us polytheism.
Eloheim is similar in that it can refers to spiritual beings.
Why have I not known about your channel Doug? So glad to have found it! Also glad to see you addressing this. Other than Doreen, I hadn’t heard of the others that she had on. Just so disappointed that she, to be blunt, lied about what he had stated in every interview he did which is that this is not something new he came up with. She should know that, he hosted her on his show🙄.

I had listened to Mike for 15+ years before accepting his teaching as truthful, it was so foreign to me than the 50 years of traditional Southern Baptist teaching I had previously known. Acceptance destroyed religious strongholds and set me free in Christ. I am most grateful to Mike and those like you who continue to set the captives free.

Dr. Heiser was a wonderful teacher who boldly waded into the Christian fringe. While there were things I disagreed with him on, such as not understanding Old Testament passages of Satan according to the New Testament understanding of Satan, and his premise that the flood account was ambiguous enough for it to have been a local flood, I have greatly appreciated his books and his devotion to presenting us a greater understanding of the cultural context in which the Biblical texts were written. It is a shame that he is being slandered by people who have chosen to reject the supernatural paradigm.

Dr. Heiser was a gift from God for these last days to help us mere mortals connect the dots of scriptures; these dots were left unconnected from past scholars for various reasons, too numerous to mention here, did he connect all dots, no, he was still a mere mortal with gifts for us, I have "deep dived" with Dr. Heiser since 2015 seeing this unfounded criticism is easy when used against the dead, I do appreciate Doug and company for bringing this to light. I always saw Dr. Heiser in the light of my first teachers, Donald Grey Barnhouse, Walter Martin, Chuck Smith, Chuck Missler, Tom Horn etc. who were gifts to the true body of Yeshua, Maranatha!! p.s. I do think Mike would enjoy the challenge of debating the critics, I personally miss his physical presence but not our will, His will be done.

Like Dr Mike has thought over and over again: "Yahweh is an elohim but no other elohim is Yahweh".
I am not a smart guy. Dr Heisers work changed my life. It opened up Scripture like you guys said in the podcast to explain the Text in a context that just fits. It doesn't pull me away from Christ rather it only shows that Jesus is the ultimate Victory and awesome saviour of my life and has Victory over everything. Dr Heiser never took away power from Christ, he only showed how much more he conquered. Not only biblically it makes sense but also looking at Archeology, Human History, the Astronomical wisom of the ancient people, the knowledge of principalities and their claim of Land.....all those things match up with the Bible, and with the Bible as the Authority and the Holy Ghost helping us understand Texture I have no doubt that the supernatural view as described in Dr Heisers books are correct. Fellow Christians accusing a brother should be carefull by doing so......The accuser does the same thing......before someone calls a fellow Brother a liar, be very careful of what the motivation is behind that accusation. THANK YOU! I owe so much to Dr. Heiser for putting a the final pieces of the puzzle together for me and my Bible Study has exploded as a result. I watched Doreen Virtue's video. I found it to be terrifically disingenuous. All of the participants mischaracterized Heiser. They made statements that were very close to being 180 degrees from describing him. I am happy to see you rebutting that video. Michael Heiser has brought texture and color to my understanding of scripture NOT secret information.

I've said it before I'll say it again, Doreen and her gossip group are not even close to the scholars Mike was. If Darrell Bock, John Peckham, Ben Witherington III et al have no problems with Mike's theology then why are we bothered when UA-cam commentators criticise Mike's work?

Dr. Heiser made the spiritual realm easy to comprehend, it is a subject that in some arenas isn't discussed much at all. With the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls alot more historical information is available to fill gaps.

You're also parroting what you've heard and seemingly clueless that Christianity has been around for 2000 years and not based on Mike's personal opinions and explanations. It doesn't need to be figured out again and reinvented by sectarian cult members outside of the Body of Christ.

He was a good man and a strong Christian. I have been around a long time. There is a lot to learn still no matter what age you are and instead of appreciating another opinion you attack the man! That is wrong and certainly not Christian!! I have read Mike’s books, seen probably every podcast he’s done no do not agree with all of it but I appreciate Mike’s intelligence and his take on a lot of topics including the giants and Genesis 6 and especially Psalm 82! You said it. You let a man reinterpret a 2000 year old religion for you in modern times. You apparently believe he had more of the Holy Spirit and discernment, and perhaps more intelligence, than the entire Body of Christ for the first 1000 years of the Faith. Maybe you think Jesus didn't know what He was talking about when He promised the Spirit would preserve the Church and lead it into all truth so that we have to reinvent things and contradict what the Body of Christ has known for centuries. Maybe like Mormon cult members you believe Jesus was wrong when He said the gates of hades wouldn't prevail against it, and the entire Church failed or some other conspiracy theory. It's funny how no one ever stops to ask why God preserved the scriptures and not the meanings of them so that you have to keep figuring it out again in every generation. You're the very definition of a sectarian cult member that's outside of the Body of Christ.
this was so helpful to me bcuz I started listening to m. heifer and I found him interesting but I loved his voice and his quips to bring humor and understanding. but I got scared bcuz I didn't want to be a nephelim nut job so I thought I won't listen to m. heifers teachings. but this podcast has made me want to dig deeper in the bible and study other topics that m. heiser covered. thank you.
Besides slandering Dr. Michael Heiser, Doreen Virtue also criticized Deliverance Ministries. The fact that she CONTINUALLY does this (picking on whoever and whatever catches her attention), only means she herself has NOT gone through the process of deliverance from new age and everything associated with it.

I loved Heiser's work. He is the reason I am a Christian. His work was so simple to understand, so clearly explained and laid out. Everything was completely logical and explanatory of the world we live in. How people don't get Heiser I can not understand. It is very frustrating.
I've found the opponents I have had to deal with regarding Heiser is they can not deal with the "sons of God" being anything other than normal humans. Which of course, strips the Bible of almost all of its spiritual meaning. Such a pity. Heiser nailed it. I say it every time I get the chance. I loved his podcast with Trey as well. I miss him. Thanks for the defense of a great guy who brought the Bible to Life for me.

Great video - thanks! Doreen has gotten deep into a specific brand of Reformed Baptist dogma and her attitude about it has become a bit cultish. I stopped watching her channel because she has become so rigid. I left the Reformed crowd a couple years back because of further studies into the early Church and Church Fathers. Reformed theology promotes so many inconsistencies, misunderstandings, and flat-out lies that I just couldn't stay on board with it. Mike Heiser was a true scholar and never let preconceived notions stand in the way of discovering and understanding Biblical and historical truth.
