Just swapped this out myself. I had the same buildup. I was super-worried about that because I know that vacuum hose is immediately right there. I was worried because I thought maybe there was something going on with too much oil heading up the vacuum. I swapped out the IAC for a brand new one. I have 22 error codes on a '98 that I just bought and am trying to sort everything out. I'm just replacing every single thing with the fuel/air/oxygen/spark system just to be certain.
G’Day Mate 👋, Thank you for the great Video,, thanks for sharing your information to all of us 🫡🤝, Mate a tiny question your engine is. GMS 4.0 I never drove one on Discovery 1 I have the Discovery 2 Thor 4.0 and Range Rover p38 4.6 , i think if the GMS engine it will be better!! Just my opinion 😂😉,, Many thanks Cheers Matt
Should mention that you may need to have it reset with the computer. That’s what happened to me after I installed a new idle air intake control valve. It would not reset and I had to take it to my mechanic. Thanks
soak it in carb cleaner for a few days - that is the best way to clean - almost always works
All of you guys who change the IACV on a 98 disco please watch my video on adaptive values… will be needed for this fix! Thanks everyone

Would this cause a stall at idle?
I'm having that issue and I've been told it could be
Fixed?
