Mixing the Paint is completely safe and wont have an effect on the nib. You can dap the pen to clean it. By dap the pen you will create paint flow which will wash out the color you were mixing with.
holy cow dude.. im impressed
keep it up
Yeah Sorry about that i'm planning to take the music out in my future videos. Thank you though for watching =D
Seriously just answered every question I had about blending! Thank you. You truly are amazing!! Made my day :D
AWESOME vid -- love your description of your process and what the effect of each step is.
I love the music! Makes me want to go surfing (fat chance of that as I live in Tacoma, WA!). Great tutorial, as well.
Great art mate. Just one question on blending.. Does it ruin the nibs.. Make the mixed ?
Really nice stuff man, I especially enjoy the way you explain technique and the painting steps. Keep 'em coming:)
No, don't worry about it. You can can blend black and white together and after dab the white pen a few time and the color will revert back to its original color.
me, being a guy trying to start a custom game console/accessory business at 1:11
*this changes everything*
how do you clean the tips after??
Its a quick place to bad the pen to get the paint flowing. Its not harmful and washes off with soap and water.
I just start to use uni posca, please tell me if , we need to vernish it , to keep the colors longer, thanks you for the goog explanations, and sorry for my bad english!
erase the left eye, and the shark would be thousand much better
does the blending work in a normal paper?
doesnt going over with the grey with the white pen dodge up its tip or stain the tip with the grey acrylic paint?
SkateboardingGiraffe No, The paint will in the pen with flush the mixed color out.
Yea 3-4 coats of krylon would be enough but for extra protection 8 would work.
this is the first comment on this video in 2023, congratulations on finding it
so your saying when doing the bold outline you just do it on the basic shape not the entire outside?
I hella subscribed real quick lol
Freaken awesome!!!! Thanks so much for the tutorial!!
stupid question... how do you 'clean' the white Posca after blending it with another color? my tip always gets really dirty after blening... do you just dab it on another sheet of paper?
Just found your vids, they are very helpful thank you
Is it possible to blend the two blue colors as well? Like with the gray and the white.
awesome!! now if this shark was on a goalie mask, at the end of the drawing/painting you would apply 4-8 coats of clear coat, is that right? thx man, you inspire me to try this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
is there any surface texture left, after the gesso is applied?
I have the problem, that the paint pens don't reach into the creases of the canvas, with leaves tiny white spots in the painting.
Winznut Yes. The gesso helps to smooth the surface of the canvas. Apply multiple coat you can make the surface flat and smooth. You can also Sand Gesso after it has dried.
So, these markers use gouache? Why not use gouache in paint form with a brush?
I have been working with sharpi oils based paint pens. what I am struggeling with is that once the paint is dry I try to go back over the top. like you are doing with the black outline. except the dry paint becomes wet again and smears into the new color. do you have this problem with the pens you use.
switch to decocolors. The sharpies are good pens for the most part but if you want a pen that you can paint over once dry, the decos are the best.
Yes I have try that technique before it works.
thank you so much for this series! :)
You do a bold line to the silhouette of the object.
I dont understand the question. sorry. You can blend any two colors together.
can you make the "galaxy" on a canvas? or can you do that with uni posca pens?
Blending with the white pen - doesn't that ruin the white pen? (love your video's thank you for sharing.)
and whats the best surface to use for blending a picture? ive tried it on card, but whenever i add an area of solid color, it damages the card???
this is an issues some times with the unis. try decocolor oil for super solid opaque areas but be for warned the decos do not blend like the uni's. They can be used to produce gradients but it is a more difficult and all together different process.
I loved your skateboard
thank you for anwersing! keep up the great work!
when you say medium sized nibs, what size exactly?
Thanks!
very cool, thanks for your help
I will dap it on a sheet of paper until the color return to normal.
Dude tis is great
how can the pencil go through the paper? Its amazing :-)
Please answer I know this is all about posca markers But Which would you recommend: Posca Paint Markers, DecoColor Acrylic Paint Markers, Or Sharpie Paint Markers. If you could respond that would be wonderful. :) (Also if its not too much trouble im having a hard time picking in between Medium, Or Bold)
+Evil Gibus Gaming Personally I'm a fan for POSCA. When I first got into using paint markers I used the Decocolor, but they were terrible mainly because they were oil base. So if your looking to make clean blends stay away from any oil base pen. (Waterbase is the way to go.) Sharpie paint markers are pretty much the same as POSCA but at the time I started I was told that they discontinued making them. (back in 2010). So I have always chosen POSCA for their quality and availability. As far as size, well it depends on the size of your project. If you working on something of small scale choose a 3m or 5m, larger scale projects 5m or 8k. Personally I always made concept art before beginning a painting so I could see what I would actually need color wise. Then I would determine the scale of the project and choose the size of the pens according to that. Over time you will collect a wide variety of sizes and colors and eventually you won't have to worry about what size pen you need to buy. I hope this helps.
Joseph Tubb That really helps i was quite confused, but its all about planning, and one day ill have a lot more posca markers. Thank you so much, just ordered some White gesso, Painters brush, 8 pack of medium posca markers, and some canvas Thank you so much, Have a great day!
Joseph Tubb Hey if you don't mind, i have one more question, Would posca markers work on the griptape of a skateboard? Or would it ruin the nub?
Joseph Tubb Alright thank you, I want to keep these in the best shape as possible Thank you for answering my questions :)
+Joseph Tubb: DecoColor also makes water-based acrylic paint markers. I just used them on a big-ass 18"x24" canvas and they are very nice, except I had never used paint markers before and I kind of effed up the tips by bearing down too hard! Ha ha! Also, I used a canvas panel and didn't know I was supposed to gesso it first. Oops! Anyway, for some reason, on the Dick Blick website they say, "Although Decocolor acrylic paint markers use acrylic paint, they are not recommended for use with other brands of acrylic paint." I wonder why?
great help man. thanks
Doesn't that white get ruined by mixing it with the gray?
thats what i thought as well; the paint eventually fades back to clear white (fairly quickly)
Why is there paint on your hands?
awesome!
I don’t even know how to OPEN these things
its carbon paper its awesome.
you could have blended the light blue into the dark blue a bit more its a bit choppy.
Thank you =D
Will the tip of the white marker get stained?
Grace Jones yes but push down on anotge paper to squit out wgite paint and it fixes since theur water based
I thought it was brilliant😊😉
the gills are too far back
+heidbrain
Thanks for the feed back, but I don't think at the time I did this I was going for exactly anatomy.
Thank again for watching!
