Posca Pen horror story that I'm still salty about: I had a project for my graphic design class where I had to use something other than a digital medium. I was painting a galaxy using watercolor and I added some larger stars with a white Posca pen that I had bought about a month before that. I was adding one of the last stars and the nib of the pen just exploded all. over. my painting. In the time it took me to run and get a paper towel from my kitchen, part of the paint had dried and ruined the painting. I had no choice but to redo the entire thing. It was a little late but luckily, I got an "A".
Very proud to say I introduced posca pens to my artist mother. She’s an oil painter and paints in flowers and has found much use for posca pens by adding vine and leaf details

There’s literally a name for it in linguistics lol it’s called the “pin-pen merger”. I mean, it’s not a big deal because we can figure out through context which word is being used, but it is glaringly obvious to anyone who pronounces those sounds differently.
These guides have been so comprehensive and helpful. I'm planning to buy a large set soon, and I'm so excited now. Especially appreciated the last tip about refilling and your notes about lineless art. Lineless is something I struggle with but always wanted to do. I love the look of bold, highly contrasting shading but usually chicken out. Thank you.
A way to avoid pilling of the paper is also to put down acrylic gesso beforehand! Gesso is also super helpful to use if you wanna overall use acrylics/posca on things that werent made for the paint. It also makes it nicer to work on since the gesso gives it a matte finish
I litterally opened a birthday package today with a set of these pens in it, so perfect timing! I'm going to watch both your posca tip videos, thanks for making them!

Love learning about these pens. I’ve been out of art for a hot minute due to lack of will and family issues. I’ve been wanting to get back into the hobby that used to bring me so much joy. I think these would be a cute start. Thanks for the information and education!
You can refill poscas ... but it's best to use acrylic paint with a little bit of 91% isopropyl alcohol instead of water. The alcohol dries faster, carries the ink more thinly through the nib, and just makes the flow a little nicer. The large ones can be unscrewed if you turn them the opposite of a normal motion (they are left hand threaded) and then take the valve out. Small ones can be refilled through the nib. And ALWAYS keep you old markers - they can be refilled or used as parts for other markers... because if you use them on anything but paper, you will destroy the nibs. Even canvas will take its toll.
I did really buy Posca pens after watching your videos! They 're very interesting , i thought, and i still don't regret ! Got into using these pens thanks to these videos and the fine detail pens are really great for lineart and the paint doesn’t smudge once dry, which makes coloring with things like water color pencils and such easy. However the downside to that is that the color pencils would get on the lines and you have to redraw the lines again. But the result is worth it.
