- Here is a new video !!
It's a 1218 American Flyer locomotive. 0 gauge.
This model had a lot of different colors (green,orange,...) and I decided to make a full black finish.
It was in very bad shape, pretty much rusted, not tested before being restored.
Please watch till the end to see this rare electric locomotive in action !
By supporting the channel you help me make more of these video and find more amazing items.
I hope you'll enjoy this restoration.

It is very obvious that you spend a lot of time to get the details just right on the restoration, but again, what most impressed me is the amount of time and effort you put into each video. Fantastic results! Thank you.
Thank you very much! I think I spend more time on the the editing ;)
@@TheFabrik I so love watching these videos. I love it when things get restored. 🥺🥺😍😍

The world needs more restorations, shame we live in a throw away culture
Wow, wow, wow!
Who needs Netflix when I can binge these absolutely amazing videos. (1) The craftsmanship is second to none; (2) the attention to absolute detail is second to none; (3) and we cannot overlook the videoraphy, text narration and screenplay, which even includes silent humor.
I have no words. Just beautiful work and productions.
Thank you for sharing this.
Thank you so much !! 🙏 glad you enjoyed 😌🙌
I couldn't have put that better myself.
Well said......
this one didn't look too bad from the outside but that motor looked like it needed at alot of work. Great work! :)
I had Am Flyer when I was little(50s)...still this was an above average restoration lol
One thing that stands out: the proper tools for the job. The sign of a true craftsman.
Many thanks 🔧🪛⚙️⛏️
The "pickling" technique to remove rust and old paint has been demonstrated on this channel before, but I never cease to enjoy watching it. Thank-you for another excellent video!
Thanks a lot William 😌🙏
Personally I like the rust on the exterior of the locomotive. Gives it some character, and that authentic old feeling
You mean tinny.
Imagine a whole scenery with all your recovered and reconstructed trains. Now that would be a sight.
I’m thinking about it 👍🏻
Remember people!☝️ These are the loving ❤️ hands ✋️ of restoration here! Respect!
Thanks a lot !
It's so amazing to see these pre plastic era toys, these little things were built like tanks
Such amazing work
Thank you so much 😀
The love of trains never leaves. Great restore work.
I completely agree! I have a couple of old ones I can't repair. This talent is exceptional!
@@brln4 Do you know what kind of locomotives they are, depending on what they are I might be able to provide a little bit of help. I don't really know much about O scale, but I know plenty about 1970's and 1980's locomotives.
One of my favourite builds so far. Not much rust and simple cleaning tech. Nice
Brilliant restoration of the old Locomotive
Thanks a lot 🙌
I have a 1930’s American Flyer New York Central lines streamlined locomotive that belonged to by Dad(r.i.p.) that sat in the floodwaters of Hurricane Katrina for 2 weeks , the brackish water ate half the wheels off , motor ruined ect, I only wish i could restore it to great working condition like you do, you truly have a excellent and precise skill for the tedious restorations
Thank you for sharing this memory with me and thank you for your comment.🙏 Why don't you try to restore this object which must have a lot of value for you ?
I love how you breathe new life into these toys
Thank a lot. Glad you enjoyed it !
Beautiful restoration of the toy electric train, and a few remaining classics worth saving.
Many thanks 🙏
Each video comes close to perfection for the quality and inventiveness of the image setting, brilliant !
Accuracy is everything 👍
Nice job
I never tire of watching your amazing skills in saving another toy from the scrapyard. Thank you for sharing
Thank you so much for continuing to watch my videos! And thank you for commenting...it means a lot to me 🙏🙏🙏
I'm a collector of antique trains, and these 100-year-old tinplate American Flyer trains actually have some value. However, despite the amazing job you did on this, I can't help but think that its actually lost some value by being restored like this. I mean, I'd still pay top dollar for it, but I'm sure others would argue it. Great job none the less.
Thank you very much ! I know it has lost its value because of the restoration :/
@@TheFabrik but at the same time, keeping it as a rusting hulk isn't exactly the best fate for it
@@yeoldeseawitch i agree :) My two little boys are now playing with that locomotive ...🥳
@@TheFabrikThat’s perfect. I understand why people want to collect things in their original condition, but toys are meant to be played with!
Finally something from 🇺🇸 ! Keep it up!
Yeah !!! 😃
beautiful restoration
Thanks a lot mate 👍
Wow, it was an incredible restoration, then I saw it in action 😲
Thank you very much 👍
Hi, I often think where do you find these old items, then there is the stripdown and the restoration process. The results are aways amazing, another old toy running and if looked after will last for decades. Thanks for sharing your skills. Cheers, Paul. 🚂🔨🪛🖌👍👍👍
Thank you very much Paul !! I bought this one on eBay a few weeks ago
It's always amazing just how many different parts there are in one of these toys.
Yup, I agree. Back then there's a lot but the majority last long. Whereas some of today's today's have fewer parts but breaks easily ( *coughs* made in China *coughs* )
My 3yo adores your train restorations❤
I’m so glad 😌🙏
this was INCREDIBLE!!!
A beautiful restoration, or rather, a great metamorphosis! The attention to detail is extraordinary. The result is absolutely great.
Absolutely amazing!
sehr gut arbeit 💯👍hoch ng
This is a wonderful restoration and I enjoyed it. By the sound of the locomotive the oil was missing on all the key friction areas especially the motor bearings. Still, what a beauty and it is something to be proud of. Thanks, Jersey Bill
Always love to see you fix trains!!!
Awesome job!!! ❤️❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Glad you like it ! Thank you🙏
Good restoration! 🛠👍
Thank you The Fabric 👋
Absolutely beautiful restoration. ~Kevin
Thanks a lot 👍
This is very very very nice I like it very much ❤️
Glad you enjoyed it ! Thanks to you for watching and commenting 🤩
Merci. On attend la suite...
If you had the wagons it was perfect. Very good work. Congratulations
Thank you 👍
Beautifully photographed. Exquisitely recorded sound. You took us back into the past to show us the secrets of craftsmen who lived a century ago. I was thrilled.
Glad you enjoyed it ! Thank you very much 🙌
Absolument magnifique !!!👍👍👍
Wow! That’s beautiful!
Thank you! 😊
Satisfying restoration
T'is Sunday morning and I got my treat!! Beautifully done. What a result!! Take care 🙂
Thank you so much Isabelle 😌
What a beautiful work!! Amazing!!
This is so cool! I absolutely love this. Keep it up man!
That looks awesome!, and maybe, just maybe, you can find rolling stock for it
Great job. It's beautiful!!!
What a fine addition to the fleet! I always look forward to your restorations. 😊
Heck of a toy and an excellent restoration. I’m glad the termites were still holding hands.
Great job very engaging until the end
i LOVE these model train videos
love the work and i find it very relaxing
Happy to hear that!
Great restoration
Claro ! Muchas gracias 🙏
Your videos have the exact correct amount of everything! Thank you!
Thank you !!
Merci Charles 😌🙌
Another great project, the patience you use is amazing
Patience is the key 🥲😅
I never realized that American Flyer ran on "O" gage. Lionel ran on "O" and super "O" gage.
Beautiful job on a beautiful piece. Seeing that locomotive run was just the sweet icing on the cake, kudos! 🙌
Thank you very much 🙌
That is awesome!!!! Such a beauty!
Thank you very much 👍
Masterful masterpiece! But I couldn't see if the light was on? 👍
Great job on the body and decal work. As a model train runner I knew that one needed oil in several places, especially the armature and axle ends, and gears...
Great point! I didn't show it but I put oil in the engine ;)
Very nice project my friend, but most curious I'm about the velo solex, I noticed on your terrace. Is it an upcoming project?
Looking forward to hear from you.
Thank you so much. No, this Solex is in too good condition to be the subject of a video ! It runs perfectly 🤣🤣🤣
Just fantastic! Thanks!
I so enjoy all your videos. Wish they came more frequently, but as they say, "Beggars can't be choosers." Haha. Cheers.
More to come!
OMG I love this type of vintage toy locomotive I was really waiting to see when you’d do a video on this model and you finally did 😄✨✨✨
Glad you enjoyed !! It took a while but I finally did😌
This was a very delicate piece to restore and a very sensitive, careful, and complete restoration was done. This train would be great display piece for an office or library. Fantastic!!
Restored toys are made to be used by children, not for useless display. Try and make children happy !
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed. I'll keep that loco ;)
I have two little boys and i can tell you they love to turn that locomotive on !!!😁 'Dad can we play with the choo choo ?'😅

Probably the best restoration I have ever seen & extremely well filmed, excellent work thank you.

Great job!I got an aesthetic pleasure!

Thanks for this wonderful work 👍🏻
You have so many locomotives, but they lack a car! :)
What a superb job you did restoring the old Flyer locomotive. It looks much better and it works like a charm too. Excellent work as usual.
Thank you so much George ! My first US loco 😃

Beautiful restore job! I bought an old rusted motor early 1940s engine. I thought I'd try to restore. You gave me some good ideas, but if I can't restore the rusted motor, I see I can buy a used replacement motor if needed for my project! Thanks 😊
what a Masterful restoration, beautiful result 👍
Bonjour The Fabrik,
Amazing how nice the shiny parts got by polishing alone. I expected you would have had to nickel plate
I should have probably but I think it was chrome originally
perfect
Very cute train, well done. I also have a train for restoration. Can't wait for start with that project.
Oh really ? Looking forward to see it !! 🙌
A MASTERPIECE !!!
