I've always enjoyed seeing the old being given a new lease on life. You, Chip Channel Restorations, AR Restoration, and other channels like y'all are always fun to watch. It's good that little steamie has a new home that loves it enough to restore it to full working order. Hope it lasts many more years and the great great grandkids of the future have it running and taken care of still.
When watching, I cringed at the stickers and the end of the video proved me right. The original was painted. Stickers should not be used. I also think sand blasting brass is a terrible idea. Could have dunked the boiler in vinegar for a short time for better clean. Also I caution against jbweld on boilers.
It's terrifying this was ever a toy. An open flame, a high pressure vessel filled with super heated water. This would have been my favorite toy if I ever had one.
I was literally doing research on one of these little guys in order to get my hands on one of these someday. and this restoration is just absolutely amazing. this is the closest i've ever seen to a bowman 265/300 in factory fresh condition. just amazing
@@gavindavis6035 I kinda all over the place, I love pretty much anything that runs off steam, I work on a full size steam locomotive when I can, I volunteer at a museum with a miniature ride on locomotive, and I own 3 live steam toys one of which is from England
The condition of this locomotive is so telling of it's story- You can just look at it to see that the original owner took great pride in it by how it is still in completely original condition with minimal external wear/damage for it's age... Quite honestly, it's more than a little awe-inspiring seeing how something so old, can still be in such good condition with the proper construction of the maker and care of the owner... I do genuinely hope that you continue to do more restorations like these in the future!
That was a careful, talented restoration of a child's toy of my youth , beautifully coated , painted , plated all under the gaze of stoker P. Lastic. Then firing and running . Great job . Hope it runs for many years . 👍🇬🇧

It’s quite literally the purpose of the model, it was made to operate, and when you’ve just spent (presumably) days getting every single component back into shape, you’ll obviously want to see your little mechanical marvel doing what it was designed to do
Great job, I own a BOWMAN 4-4-0 -234 locomotive WITHOUT THE TENDER. The piece is in good used condition blackened, I repaired the safety valve, and went over the coloring leaving everything as it is. I appreciated excellent functioning, so much so that I thought that a possible total restoration could damage everything ...
Great to see this! As a kid my dad used to tell me he had one as a child in the 1930’s. He had to weigh down the coaches with stones from the back garden , otherwise loco and coaches would fly off on the curves and set fire to the living room carpet. Eventually he swapped it for some Meccano with a kid from school. I don’t think I ever forgave him for that! Now at last I know what he had 😂 Who knows, maybe this is actually the one he owned? Dad passed on in 2013, so I guess I’ll never know. He did tell me he got ripped off, as the other kid never gave him all the Meccano he owed him. What a pity your lovely LNER apple green paintwork got so scorched. Great to see her running though !

Takes me back to the 1960s and my Dad. He restored that model of locomotive. We found it in junk shop in Margate UK. Many hours of fun! It towed house bricks on flat wagons to slow it down and prevent derailment. How I loved that engine. 😎🚂
Needs stainless steel plates mounted between the boiler and the original panel with the decals on with a gap between them to act as a barrier to possibly stop the decals getting damaged. But stunning restoration regardless. Love the fact it was mostly bolted together and not rivetted.
