I felt this way too. For this to have been America's first SH game, I just wish they would have included a bit more about Alessa or even her mother. The original story as far as Travis and his parents go was very well thought out in it's entirety. To be honest. I appreciate that the aesthetic of SH: Origin is based so much around that instead of doing what SH:3 piggybacking off of Silent Hill's overworld and the pain and suffering Alessa endured. Outside of it connected with the storyline from the First and third, if you never played Silent Hill at all, this would be a beautiful starting point to enter the series at to get an idea of what Silent Hill is about. It honestly might be one of my top 3 Silent Hill games. .

Actually for me this has one of the most creepiest sh storyline in the series. Esp when travis slowly unlocks his past he must have repressed. The sanitarium is is scary as hell. The motel scene however finding out how his father hanged himself is a terrifying revelation. The sh1 connections however are pretty decent. The rituals however is overdone.

Just found your channel yesterday, I've been watching all you Silent Hill gameplay and was hoping to see this one. Growing up it was my favorite( still is) I remember swamping through the first 2 with my older brother when I was 7 and when I finally had my own Ps2 when I was 12 this was my first game and it took me about 3 years to pick it up. It almost gave me the creeps and I absolutely loved the soundtrack. Truely one of my favorite games. Liked and Subscribed!
I didn't mind Origins secondary story, in fact I think it's very strong in concept but a little weak execution. The idea of Travis mom turning insane due to manipulation from otherworld, trying to kill Travis and being locked away has so much more potential. A real reunion should have happened at the end. Travis here accepted she was dead, and then discovers she was actually alive...and he just kinda glosses over it. He doesn't really acknowledge it too much. With his father, the memory returning of his suicide, spying through the peephole on his father grieving..... Travis reacts a only little bit. He questions how his father could do that. Even before the boss fight, he kinda realises how insane it is that he's switching mentally between being a kid and being a man. I love how when he finds the motel key, the memory of his kid self kind of starts to break through. It really really pushed me on to discover what was the secret behind his past. And the motel music....soft, calm and foreboding... Oh, and Travis questioning the morality of having to go through this. "You dug up my parents, now what?" And he flips it around "when do we get to see into YOUR sick little mind?" All the ingredients are there to deliver a story on par with SH2. Maybe a few more survivors, a brother or sister perhaps.... But it's pushed down, it's sidelined again....and for what? For CULT CULT ALYSSA CULT rubbish that just bores me to tears. These elements are what I play Silent Hill for. I have to be honest with you, after the motel, I turn the game off now. I have no push, no desire to keep playing. They should have sidelined all the cult stuff and made Travis backstory the centre stage. A littke tweaking with the beginning, maybe he drives the truck as a metaphor for always running carrying huge burdens. Maybe he rescues a brother in the beginning fire and his trip to the hospital reveals it was his mother who was blamed for starting the fire when they were kids. This could be why she was locked away to begin with. Could even be it turns out that Travis actually was the one burned in the fire, not his brother, underneath all those trucker clothes. The brother set the fire trying to please their Mother who he saw hated Travis. Father still committed suicide. It was what he wanted, and 'they' told him it was the right thing to do to be reunited with her (or his memory of her anyway). Afterwards the brother hates Travis more and blamed him for their parents death. Bitterness and hate drew him to silent hill. Now he's the last boss. The people through the mirror spoke to him too. Yet perhaps the mirror people/town only reflected (!) the subconscious feelings in their heart. It didn't create them, but the brother, Travis mother and even father, all fed off of their own vomit, so to speak. I'm sorry for that bit of bad fan fiction. But this kind of driving psychological horror is why I love Silent Hill.
Helltio Everygames I'm personally not a huge fan of 4, but it's still better than anything that came out after it. I assume you mean Homecoming with 5, in which case I agree. Downpour was also pretty good imo, techni al issues aside.
@@localnemesis94 Its a good game despite being pretty different and most action oriented game ! The gameplay/mechanics is very good and monsters design too .Its not the best Silent Hill of course but u can enjoy it even if the game is not very scary like others SH.
I really miss this game. Played it on PS2. I love it. It's not the best game out there but it was fun nonetheless. I managed to get that sportswear costume and beat everything in my path with moon gauntlets due to the costume's unlimited energy effect 👌👌 I remember how I fought with fists often due to my fear of weapon shortage. I remember how I loved to throw TV and glass jar and typewriter to unaware enemy 😂 I remember ended the final boss fight with moon gauntlets just by swinging my fists around four times. I remember how I sneaked around the enemy, very rarely turning on the flashlight. I remember how I opened the map often and then as I progressed, I have remembered the path and opened the map less often. I remember how I hated that dog-like enemy that lunged at Travis and dealt heavy damage like fuk off 😩 I remembered trapped in a room with four dolls to take care of -.- This game is my childhood 😭❤
I remember playing this when it first came out on PSP with headphones. By the time I got to the sanitarium, I pretty much shat myself with all the jump scares and eerie music. I loved the concept of travelling through mirrors though. Great touch
Origins is one of my favorites in the series tbh. When it came out there weren’t really mobile horror games. I have many good memories of me with the lights off under sheets with earbuds in. Yes it is short but for what’s originally a psp game it’s golden. It was also the last fully true to series( feeling and gameplay wise) silent hill game.
Nostalgic game played it back I think it was 2007 at ps2 and till this day I remember it..great graphics and enviroment for its day release and great music!
Much credit to you for getting through this brutally tough (and cheap enemies) Silent Hill game. I only got so far and there were other games that I wanted to play that weren't as punishingly tough. It was fun to watch the whole game be completed, thank you!
I don't think that's ever actually mentioned. But my guess would be to follow Alyssa/figure out what happened to her. And, I guess the Travis remembering what happened with his parents is just icing. This is definitely one game in the franchise that is underrated I enjoyed playing this game very much.
For this being the first Silent Hill game developed by the American team, I think they did a fantastic job, even better than SH4 in some aspect cause it went back to the format we knew & loved. Although...... One thing that really fucking annoyed me was the fact that they locked the Noise Filter & Run/Walk option behind an Extra Options wall, only accessible once the game is beaten. So basically you gotta play the game once with the screen looking like it's wrapped in cling film, before you can get the sharper graphics option. The original SH games had the extra options too, if you pressed L1 or R1 on the options screen which was also kinda stupid, but not as stupid as locking them out. I understand making Bloody Footprints, & Flashlight Mods etc as unlockables, but not something like a noise filter & a run/walk option
I must say this game is a very good SH game...I know many dislike this one but I can't understand why...this game has it all what it takes to be a SH game..great atmosphere...great music and the horror in this game is very well present...hell the first time I played this one I was shitting my pants :D story is realy not that bad. Imo this SH game is the last good Silent Hill we got...what I like about this game is that you get to explore big areas inside buildings...that's what SH is all about...getting lost inside of big buildings and find your way out with all the mysteries and puzzles around it. The other world is so damn creepie and very well done. I love this game so much...so yeah that is my opinion
This feels like an off-brand Silent Hill somehow. Maybe it has to do with limitations on hand-held gaming devices, I don't know. Anyway, thanks for playing and sharing! Glad I finally got to see this one, have read things about it but never played this particular game. Much appreciations~
If any body wondering how did he decipher the Rotary calender code. Here it is, After Breaking the Jeweled Heart with the help of heavy duty vice attached to the bench.we get the wedding ring belongs to the (Father)Richard. In the wedding ring itself engraved this line “to my june bride, Love forever which means The month of the calender is June- 06 that's one mystery solved and the others are : you can find a peephole in riverside motel maintanence room in there you can see a narrow way in the maintanence. There we can find a calender showing red round circle marked which is mentioning“12”day. That i find on the game the other month and year where founded in the research. As you know we have the lucky quarter in the begining of the game itself in the item examining how there is a two digit in it. ie, 61 which allocates the year of his father died “1961”.(06/12/1961)
9:31 Man, I fucking miss these maps! Just checking every door then Travis puts X and Os. Not to mentions mirror gateways that also changes the map color. The screen stutter and distortion as well when enemies are nearby

One of my top favorite Silent Hill games. Other ones are Silent Hill , Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3. I had gotten this one with my brand new PSP when it first came out from my hubby and son as couple of my Christmas gifts. I love storyline , graphics , gameplay and music of this game. This game was amazingly beautifully connected to original Silent Hill and Silent Hill 3 in its environmental and characters that blended each one together through connected storyline pathway. ❤

Travis is probably the most morally sound guy in the Silent Hill series. His first act is one of heroism, he goes out of his way to make sure that Alessa is safe, and completely tolerates her putting him through his own personal hell to overcome his past traumas, and he takes all of it in near-perfect stride. Eventually, he even makes it a priority to see everything through to the end, just so he can resolve whatever blight is bringing all this harm to her. Lastly he smiles sincerely at the girl through his rearview mirror before taking off, satisfied, relieved, and ultimately grateful for everything he just went through, for he got to not only resolve his own woes but helped out someone else in the process as well. I find it rather fitting, that we get to see an older, clearly more mature Travis at the beginning of Homecoming giving a lift to Alex Shephard, who is obviously another contender for more sound minded protagonists given what happened to his younger brother was clearly an accident, and even he shows signs of willingness to help others if given the chance.

But this kind of driving psychological horror is why I love Silent Hill.
oh the memories. i loved this game when it came out, especially the soundtrack. thank you so much for uploading this.
One of the best post-Silent Hill 4 Silent Hill games.
Helltio Everygames I'm personally not a huge fan of 4, but it's still better than anything that came out after it. I assume you mean Homecoming with 5, in which case I agree. Downpour was also pretty good imo, techni al issues aside.
Helltio Everygames
Sh4 is like re7 in my opinion. Good game but should be released under deferent name
Ghost Of War I loved RE7, but I get what you mean.
I bought homecoming years ago but never played much of it. Is it any good?
I remember how I hated that dog-like enemy that lunged at Travis and dealt heavy damage like fuk off 😩 I remembered trapped in a room with four dolls to take care of -.-
This game is my childhood 😭❤
26:27 I remember doing that part. Absolutely crapped myself when the eyes opened.
The first SH i played/speedrun'd. That's why i love it as much as SH2.
My only complain about origins is that the game is way too easy...
I like that his reaction to the nurse being stabbed by the butcher is just confusion.
Love Silent hill origins 😢💖
l like that game too even if this game ins't have the difficulty mode for bosses
Let me burn!
Travis: You're coming with me!
That's a good listener! XDXDXDXD
3:25 this game has a lot of haters but nobody can denied this moment its one of the most iconics in the entire franchise
Love how his pockets can hold a scalper, a coat hanger, 2 hammers and a frickin' TV screen
and the filing cabinet
And the typewriter
The music at 1:13:43
good 'ol silent hills. Brings back memories
There is something terrifying about Silent hill foot step.
*Me see a burning house*
Silent Hill: Is there somebody in the house?
Me: Nope, nope, nope ummm 9-1-1
Such an underrated masterpiece horror survival game! This should have been in place of homecoming instead.
God, I love the opening song! This brings back memories of playing on my PSP while riding the subway to work!
Travis looks exactly like my dad!
This game and Shattered Memories need remaster on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.
Yeah
@@lucasmoreirasantos8377 konami fired kojima :(
@@lucasmoreirasantos8377 no need to reboot .Remastered is enough
I'm watching this gameplay for an hour but i still don't know whats travis's objective 😂
I don't think that's ever actually mentioned. But my guess would be to follow Alyssa/figure out what happened to her. And, I guess the Travis remembering what happened with his parents is just icing. This is definitely one game in the franchise that is underrated I enjoyed playing this game very much.
His only objective was to drive that truck and deliver me my fuccing Thermomix!
I never got it so he obviously failed!
In my opinion Silent Hill Origins has the best opening in the entire Silent Hill series.
I understand making Bloody Footprints, & Flashlight Mods etc as unlockables, but not something like a noise filter & a run/walk option
i miss silent hill so much, was a great game back in the day.
Maybe because this was the first game in the series that was outsourced to a western developer..
Idk why people hate this game. Its not as good as the first 3 but its still good.
1:40:22 Travis:yeah l are using a pocket dimension to drag all these things >;)
Doraemon perk
Finished RE marathon and now Starting SH one. Thanks for the upload!
9:31 Man, I fucking miss these maps! Just checking every door then Travis puts X and Os. Not to mentions mirror gateways that also changes the map color.
The screen stutter and distortion as well when enemies are nearby
Oh my God I can't believe it.. I start watch from 0 minute until done... day by day Watch this, While I eat my food, While I take a rest after work... And did not skip this video, really thank you for this, I watch this because in the past I can't play this 'till done, so I come here to see what the story is... Good luck ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I wish there was a PC port of this game i think it definitely deserves one
Great Video SHN ! I loved this game back in the day......graphics were amazing and top notch at that time.
Tremendo soundtrack, Akira Yamaoka es lo máximo! gracias por el video de este juegazo.
damn, ive been playing this on the psp the past week and boy do these graphics look 100x better. Silent Hill for life ..🤘🤘
Alessa's Mom, like wtf she looks nothing like the original it's so weird. Still I like this little gem, you can beat in one sitting. I love your videos!
21:50 nice desktop shot bro, sweet games on display there
Imagine... picking up a completely burnt corpse and thinking “yes, you are still alive, you are coming with me” lmfao
when i was young i used to get angry about this game
1- i didnt know how to run till i reached half way of the game
2- i never picked up any maps so i get lost every time
i never finished the game
- cry in spanish -
how do you won't know how to run until the half of the game, that's ridiculous.
@@Carlosocc95 I know right , that was my first game ever to play when I was a kid😂😂😂
When I was young I had herpes
Played this 9 years ago..... with the lights all off
Took me 3 days,
besides making things eerier!
Man this reminds me of the good old days when games like this were worth the play. Although now in late 2018 early 2019 im excited for the stuff coming out.
Also makes me wish someone would redo the Silent Hill movies, maybe James Wan. He did all those Saw movies and the Conjuring series. Just a thought XD
played it 10+ yrs ago and once again I'm amazed by how powerful PSP is.
Lesson learned : If you ride on your car pass midnight, then you see a little girl, alone, across the street, please don't even bother to stop... Lol
Love this series!! I just re-beat origins and forgot how much I actually loved this little gem!
I never got past the first nurse, and still, this feels so nostalgic
Too scared?
I've been playing all silent hills since the first one on emulators and this is the only one I didn't advance the credits on. The soundtrack is wonderful.
One of the most epic horror games ever. So ambient and what and atmosphere. Great great game.!!!
Butcher is a scary as hell boss.
Omg this made my memory unlocked I played this game on my psp long time ago and I didn’t finish it bc I was scared and I didn’t know how to play this game when I was little😭
😆 didn't finish 😝
the monsters : *start chasing*
me : *stop breathing*
also me : BRO YOURE GOING TO DIE
travis : ill walk as calm as i can
bro- ok.
The most depressing game I have ever played was the silent hill series starting from silent hill one on ps1 til silent hill downpour , still waiting for Kojima to announce his silent hill
Love Silent Hill
Out of all the silent hill games, this one is my favorite. Hopefully it gets remastered
*walking on concrete*
Developers: oh ik lets use regular foot steps sound effects in houses
Kha Pham Cowboy boots.....maybe?
Thanks for this video! it brings to me good memories. Love Sillent Hill and love your channel! ♥️
