Russ, I can't thank you enough. I don't use pedal assist except for hills (due to health issues) but I live near the coast and is mostly flat. I set it up for fishing and thanks to your concise tutorial this bike (ocelot pro) is a dream come true. Thank you. 💥
Totally different than my Himiway, plus in fancy color! But they all do the same thing! I learned the hard, long way, before it becomes easy! I’m sure the new folks will appreciate the assistance! Explained pretty well!
Good info Russ. I just made a public service video concerning PAS and how they are sent from the factory. I have seen people doing reviews out there who don't even know what these are and how to change them. That's dangerous. My advice to people are start slow and work your way up. Regards Richard
Absolutely correct! Start slow. The pedal assist can get you seriously hurt as most of us are not use to the pedal assist. My best advice is to take your bike to a park where no cars are going to be and practice. Intersections are very dangerous, as the pedal assist can kick you into traffic, other than that these bikes are the most enjoyable.
Just got my deer step thru, it is great arrived on time & in excellent shape. The only thing that is a little disappointing is the screen. It lays to flat in it's uppermost position & is very hard to see while riding. Do you know if there are any different type of mounting brackets available so the screen could be placed higher & !thus be able to angle it more so the sun does not fade out the screen. Love your videos & keep up the great work!
Very informative 411 video Russ👍I'm going to try your percentages on the 1-9 PAS level. I've only tried the 1-7 level and will be an interesting comparison. I checked the weather in your area and it is brutally cold! Stay warm Russ.
If you have a 26x4 tire, switch the wheel size to 18, and put the display in km/h. It will allow higher wheel rpm, and will show true speed in mph. My bike was limited to 25 mph, but will now do 32 mph.
Quick shipping, I got my new Ocelot Pro today (thanks for the $100 off)and your video explained everything great. The manual doesn't mention that you need to use the minis to move between options. I don't do Chicago, or I'd be buying you a few drinks::o)
thanks for the great video explanation. could you tell me how to get the odometer to give total kilometres on the bike. the way it is now all I see is trip odometer. thanks
When you first turn on your bike, or when you are riding and in the main screen of the bike (not the advanced settings), if you click the "I" button in the middle (between the + and - buttons), it will toggle through the trip meter, odometer, maximum speed, etc. Hope this helps.
We have purchased two E-bikes, please-please-pleeeeze learn the function of your bike as most of us are not use to the pedal assist which can get you seriously hurt! Once your use to the assist you will have the most fun imaginable. We love ours and enjoy them more than we can express.
Thank you for everything Russ. Is there a way to make the bike go to a crawl to help you go up stairs without going too fast like in and apartment thanks
Hi, this has been very helpful, now I know why it takes off on level 1! Quick question: is there a way to lock the battery on off mode, so even if the battery is on the bike nobody can start the motor, please?
My Ocelot has a P setting on the PAS selector. When it says that, there is no power to the motor with the throttle or pedaling. When set at 0 the pedals have no power but the throttle still does. Also on mine there is a setting in advanced to turn on/off the 'cruse control' ,Called PACE
Hey Russ, I'm enjoying all your videos and the information that they contain, just wondering what is the seat post diameter of the ocelot pro because I need to buy and adapter.
I'm sitting here looking at my ocelot pro fully assembled for over two weeks but haven't tried to ride it yet. Confused about the pedal assistant thing. I prefer to use primarily throttle as im semi paralyzed though I can ride a regular bike my ankles don't work. What thing would I change to get throttle off the very start with least amount of pedaling? Almost regretting the purchase as customer support is very bad.
Appreciate this video as still learning best settings on our Oceplot Pros The manual says how to change but not why you would. I think my Wheel setting came with 20" but I'll try 22" to see if I notice anything (not sure where I would be able to tell difference). So far I like Power Set of 0-5. The one setting I still don't fully understand is Sensitivity. You said you leave it on 2. But I don't understand the difference in that setting and the Slow Start setting. Maybe just try a few settings and see if I can tell any difference.
I believe sensitivity is how sensitive the sensor is to your pedal movement. If you were to very slowly move the pedals, a very sensitive setting start up your motor, but if you slowly pedal and your sensitivity was low, it won’t start up as easily. The slow start delays the motor no matter how hard you pedal.
@@RussIsRight Like I said, trial and error will be my best approach. And I'll have to work the same "magic" on my wife's as she probably wants something different (and safer for her). Really do appreciate your videos!
I have the Ocelot Standard not the Pro. When I turn my screen on I do not see the circle (which looks like a ships wheel) with the mph in the circle, the TRIP on the left and the PAS on the right. Instead I see only 0o for the mph, the battery % at the top right ad the trip on the bottom. When I press and hold the + and - it does not jump into the advanced screen with the 6 icon but instead it goes to a screen that displays tC-n with the n flashing. I know this screen is to reset the trip meter, however, how do I get into advanced screen with this type of display?
I had heard from a subscriber that they added an on off function on newer bikes. I think it is in the display unit which controls the controller. But this function only happens on newer units and cannot be retrofitted to the older units unless you change the display or the controller (since I can’t confirm which unit has the function). My guess is that it is the display unit that controls the controller.
@@RussIsRight and if I change in my settings current amp limit to 10 A how will this effect my riding and my battery drainage on my deer 52 w battery ?
@michalmisio64 Less power would go to your motor if you lower the amp rating on your controller. I would not advise it if you want a more capable Deer.
I have been riding my Ocelot Pro for about a week now. The wheel is set at 22" Factory setting. I have ridden according to the bike screen 16.3 miles. I was concerned as I have used 50% of the battery. Then I checked my iPhone Gps Tracking my rides and it says I have gone 32.35 miles. The Screen said I have averages 5.4 MPH. The iPhone says 8.6 MPH. I ride as PAS 1 or 2 seldom use throttle. I am trying to rebuild strength after Cervical Spine fusion on my neck and have complete rehab. Anyone know why the screen doesn't give me accurate Mileage or MPH? Magicycle chat says this normal to use GPS as mileage but screen as MPH. Math says that is wrong. I went 8.2 miles in 55 minutes so the MPH different than the screen. Temperature here is 17 overnite, 36 afternoon.

Hey Russ, I'm enjoying all your videos and the information that they contain, just wondering what is the seat post diameter of the ocelot pro because I need to buy and adapter.
According to the Magicycle website: Seat Post Diameter: 30.9mm, length 300mm
How should I ser my settings for maximum battery efficiency ? Woldn’t be better to set power set to lower numbers like 1-3 for battery efficiency ?
Well, the lower the setting is, the more you save on power, but the performance may suffer at the same time.

Will adjusting the speed setting help with Ghost pedaling?
Ghost pedaling happens when you are riding fast. But no, speed adjustment will not stop ghost pedaling. Gear ratio adjustments will help stop it.
Do all three of Magicycle Deer, Ocelot Pro and Cruiser have cruise control?
The Cruiser does not have cruise control. The Deer, Ocelot Pro and the Jaguarundi all have cruise control.
How do u turn the headlight on? I can't find any info or a switch.
Hold the “+” button for a couple of seconds. Do the same to turn it off.

Minimal effect on your battery. It doesn’t draw anywhere close to what the bike motor draws.
